If someone colors their hair regularly, it is best to color at least two weeks before and at least two weeks after any surgery, just to avoid potential irritation of the scalp. The earliest you can get a haircut is post op day four after an FUE procedure, but in general it is best to wait until any crusting on either the recipient or the donor area has resolved, which is usually about a week.

Excess hair loss can have many different causes. Hair will regrow spontaneously in some forms of hair loss. Other forms can be treated successfully by a physician. For the several forms of hair loss for which there is no cure at present, there are cosmetic solutions and ongoing research in progress that hold promise for the future.
Follicular units are distinct groupings of usually one to four terminal hairs. The follicular unit is thus a naturally occuring physiologic, as well as an anatomic entity. Follicular unit transplantation offers the surgeon the ability to transplant the maximum amount of hair with the minimum amount of non-hair bearing skin.

After many years of hesitation (and fear), I was finally ready to have a hair transplant. My first appointment with Dr Wasserbauer was disappointing as she told me that she would not recommend a hair transplant in my case. I am actually THANKFUL for her honesty. She could have charged me more for a hair transplant but she really showed concern about the results.
Instead she recommended me a Scalp Micro Pigmentation (like small tattoos on your head). I was really reluctant but I gave it a try. Bissan is the SMP technician at the clinic. Bissan is incredible. She is nice, polite and very professional. She cares about her patients and wants to provide the best result. Bissan gave me great advices. SMP is not painful and so far I am very happy with the result.
It gives the optical illusion that I have more hairs (than I really have). I am now ok to have short hairs (as I don't look bold). I recommend cutting your hairs short before starting the process. It will help you visualize the result. The safety and cleaning protocols during COVID are great and I feel really safe in the clinic. The only negative point at the clinic is the phone communication with the office. Anne is nice but other staff members on the phone/desk are rude and made me feel very uncomfortable.
I was rushed or ignored at their office. I still give 5 stars but for the price, I was expecting a better customer service. A smile and friendly welcome would have been more than welcome.

I called this office recently for an initial consultation and the operator kept reminding me about the cancellation fee about half a dozen times during that brief call. Her attitude was quite appalling. Here, I'm willing to pay thousands of dollars for a cosmetic procedure, but it felt they are warding of someone barging in for free service! Of course, I didn't proceed with the appointment even though the doctor appears to have solid reputation.
Advise to the doctor: find a front office person who is cheerful and better trained. I'm giving 2 stars because at least there is someone picking up the phone and answered the call.

Here is my story: I am a 30 something balding patient who went to different clinics for FUE consultations. From all my scheduled appointments, California Hair Surgeon exceled from others clinic in California. They got a friendly staff, a recommended by American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery doctor who looks out for the best interest of her patients, an experienced SMP technician and a beautiful St. Bernard that receives you at the door, what else could I asked for?
After all my research, I didn't do the procedure right away but I did start saving money. Months passed, finally I had the budget but I was at a different state due to work and I got impulsive. There was a clinic in which the price was a little more affordable and I couldn't wait to come back to California. Worst decision I've ever made. The phrase "you get what you paid for" is absolutely true.
There was lack of guidance for the aftercare, the healing took forever and the hair follicles were transplanted on different direction, no natural pattern, crazy hairs! I hated when people look twice and noticed something wrong. That's why I just shaved my head. What a waste of money! So after months I went to Dr. Sara, with "my tail between my legs", told her what happened and my concerns.
I was ready to pay for a FUE procedure with her. She was sincere and told me I didn't need it. She went over what she can fix in order for me to have a natural pattern. Any other doctor would have told me to get the FUE procedure right away for the money. Dr. Sara did an outstanding work on laser hair removal (for the "crazy hairs") and SMP removal (I had a previous SMP and she made the hair line more natural).
Her technician Bissan did a superior work with scalp micropigmentation in the donor area dots that I didn't have to go for a second treatment. It was so well done that my wife or my coworkers didn't notice. From my experience if I had to go back to the clinic for any further treatment I would go back in a heartbeat.

I can't begin to explain how the micro scalp tattoo improve the look of my husband. He doesn't see anymore the emptiness of hair over his head, now looks like he has a head full of hair.
