Glaucoma is a group of eye disorders which can cause progressive damage to the optic nerve and eventual loss of vision. Primary open-angle glaucoma is the most common form of this disease and is associated with an increase in the fluid pressure within the eye. This increase in pressure may cause progressive damage to the optic nerve through the loss of optic nerve fibers. Advanced glaucoma may even cause blindness (second leading cause of blindness in the U. S. and most often occurs in people over 40).
The retina is the light sensitive tissue lining the back of the inner eye that contain photoreceptors to capture light images. The retina then converts these light images into signals that travel through the optic nerve to the brain. Diseases of the retina vary greatly, from common and easily resolved to ones that are difficult to diagnose and treat.
The first time you visit Zeiter Eye Medical Group, you will be given a comprehensive eye examination. During this initial meeting, your current eye-wear prescriptions will be reviewed, and your vision history will be discussed. For returning patients, yearly eye examinations are encouraged. During these routine exams, the health of your eyes will be evaluated for cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye diseases.

I don't think I have encountered a more rude group of people. The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a bad day? The next time, same thing. This last time I only went to pick up a copy of my prescription, and am so happy I don't have to go back. The people working genuinely seem like they don't want to be there and definitely don't want to help anybody. I will walk around blind before going back there.

I went in and was charged $175 co pay for 10 minutes of the doctors time. He walked in looked at my eyes in a few different angles told me I was all good basically and see you in a year. Then I had to ask him about the reason I was there. He hadn't read my chart or anything to know that I had a specific issue. I asked about that issue, he looked at my eyes for another 90 seconds and said they were fine.
I again asked about my issue and informed him of some thing another doctor had said could possibly be going on. He looked at my eyes again and said oh yeah they are a bit plugged up, just put some hot compresses on your eyes four times a day. He was so much in a hurry and so rushed that he made me feel like I shouldn't be asking my questions about my issues. I will not be seeing him in a year, I will not go back there. The girls were great however.

Had to come to the Lodi office to correct a bad prescription that was given by one of the Stockton doctors. The doctor was great but trying to order contact trials has now taken 6 weeks. I stopped by the office to try a slightly different prescription on the contract trials and never heard from them despite the office workers telling me they'd contact me the following week.
I stopped back in 2 weeks later and the contact person had placed the order without calling me and said she'd call when they arrived. 3 weeks later and still haven't heard from them so I called and the order apparently did arrive but I was never contacted.

Have been going to Lodi Optometry for years. Never had a problem. Zeiter took over and things went downhill fast. First the prices went way up, then my long time Dr got fed up with them and left. Last time I was there I had found out about a new Dr; so asked for and got the new Dr. Was very happy with the new Dr. The customer service, however, was horrible and prices out of control.
I was told they would send me my new prescription, as they were busy. I never got my new prescription. I am a creature of habit and loyal to local businesses. I have been getting photo gray lenses for many years. The time before when I got my new glasses the lenses didn't change while wearing a hat or driving. I was told that is how it is now.
The lenses also kept flaking. The first time they put my many years old lens back in and sent the new lenses back. The second time I was told there was no more warranty and I was doing something wrong. Really? I have been wearing glasses all of my life and never had a problem, and my old lenses were still like new after many years. Glasses are very expensive and with no insurance I take very good care of them.
I stopped by recently to make a new appointment. They couldn't be bothered, and I was told to make it online. Ok, so while there I wanted to get my glasses adjusted. The guy in that department was very rude and told me I needed new frames and my exam was over due. I told him I was there to make a new appointment and was turned away. No response and no adjustment.
We don't get to Lodi all that often, so wanted to take care of everything while there. Get home and do the online appointment deal. You cannot make an appointment online! You send them an email from their website and are supposed to get a call back. After several days with no call, I called the Lodi number and got Stockton. I was able to make an appointment two weeks later; however my new Dr was no longer there.
This was the straw that broke the camel's back. I did some research and found my new Dr at another place and was able to make an appointment there. Very disappointed with how things went so bad in just a few short years. Both of my great doctors left and the staff couldn't care less about us. There are so many other places to go; guess they make so much money they do not care about the people that have been going there for many years, sad.

After dealing with Dr. Hetzner for 20years, I'm done. Running late I called prior to Appt to say I'd be 10 min late. After waiting to get past covid measures I arrived at receptionist 11 min late. She checked with Dr Pham and I was turned away. "Later than 10 min. late." Well I went 2 doors down and am a new patient of Dr. Burke. See ya Zeiter.

Thank you Zeiter and Dr. Pham for a wonderful optometry experience! Unlike my previous optometry experiences before her, Dr. Pham was patient in ensuring I received the best care. During my initial visit for an eye exam, I encountered difficulty determining which comparison photo was clearer. Instead of rushing me through the process to get me out of her hair, she sensed my frustration.
She commented that my eyes may be too dry, suggested we put in some drops, completed some other assessments and provided me with the option to complete my eye exam that day or come back another time. Her flexibility is a testament of how much she truly cares about her patients. Since my first encounter, I've moved to LA but continue to travel so I can keep her as my optometrist. Thank you Dr. Pham and Zeiter!

This place is an absolute scam. Haven't been since 2017 and received a letter in the mail today saying I owe them 68 dollars for an exam from 3 years ago. The letter says they'll send me to collections if it's not paid despite me having insurance and paying a 25 dollar copay at the time. Not sure how I end up getting billed 3 years later. Attempted to call them and sort it out and was told that the office is closed.
Left my name and number but haven't received a call back yet. Stay far far away from these scammers who don't have any understanding how to properly do medical billing.

I understand the offices are closed and cannot see or handle patients at this time but I'm really frustrated. I ordered some frames around the end of February and I've had to keep checking back to see if the frames are in. I've confirmed that they are but was told to call a different person (Amanda) to take my money. I have to pay for them to get the lenses put in but I can't get anybody to return my call to take my money and I don't even know that my glasses will get filled. I'm a teacher and trying to distance teach from home and really need my glasses.

I cannot express how absolutely disgusted and dissatisfied I am with Zeiter eye. My mom has been going to Zeiter eye for at least 30 years if not more. My 80 year old mom was hit head on by a drunk driver. She endured horrific injuries and of course her glasses got bent totally out of shape. We asked the Lodi office if they could send someone 2/10 of a mile to the care facility where my mom is located, just to have them adjust the glasses so that she could see and not have the pain and pressure of her glasses pushing against her bruised and beat up eyes and nose.
They flatly refused. My mom thinks of the Zeiters as family as they attended the same church and have been long time customers. In fact, her entire family are longtime customers bringing in tons of business and referrals. The fact that they couldn't send somebody on a two minute drive or a six minute walk to adjust her glasses is just unconscionable and inhumane. Zeiter Eye just lost a boat load of family members and absolutely everyone that will listen to me tell this tragic example of inhumanity.

When I made the appointment after my exam in Manteca, (i live in lathrop) they said i needed to do my next appointment in Stockton, where i sit in their parking lot now after being told i can not be seen. Sure, my mistake, i thought my appt was at 315 and i guesd it was at 330 which is when i walked in the door. After signing in, waiting for 10 mins and letting them copy my cards and sitting back down for 5 more minutes she calls me up again, to inform me of the 330 and only allowing a 10 minute grace period. Whos going to pay me for the whole day of work i missed? What about my gas and areangements for a baby sitter? Dont worry, ill send you a bill for around $150 that u cost me today.

Our family has been going to this location for our eye care needs for 25 years. For years they where great to work with BUT the last few years they're becoming more difficult to work with. This week was unbelievable! 4 Days I called to try and buy my daughter contacts. She was there 2 times in the last 6 months. For days they repeatedly say that my daughter hasn't been there since 2012.
They are insane. We both had to take off work 4 days later for appointment. Turns out they lost her confidential medical records! So where are my daughters records? I'm sooo mad that I thinking of reporting them to both the medical board and better business. No respect to there clients. To add to the pain we received they would not stand behind the glasses that she could not see out of. How they could mess up sooo bad it was the 3 pair with in 6 months and very$$$$. Worst service ever! Do go there. Who knows where you're medical records will end up

Had a procedure done that was supposed to be pre authorized thru my insurance. Their office called my insurance 2 hours before the surgery. Because they could get an approval that quick they called me and told me my insurance had declined to pay for it and I would have to pay out of pocket. I pay out of pocket and then ask them for an itemized statement so I can forward to my insurance. They say that once I am a cash patient they cannot give me an itemized bill! Total bullshit! Doctor 5 stars, office billing lady -5 stars!

So shocked to see the bad reviews on yelp for Zeiter Eye. Maybe there is a difference between the staff at different locations? My experience at Zeiter Eye Lodi has been nothing but great. I've been coming here on and off for the last 5 years and never once had any issues with office staff. Dr. Grewal is also one of the most genuinely kind and caring optometrists I've ever met.
She is truly passionate about what she does for living, and it shows! Very intelligent, but also gentle and respectful with her patients. She truly cares about providing the best service possible to her patients. I'm sad I have to move away and find a new optometrist!

I'm quite surprised by the negative reviews for this office. Having heard great things about Zeiter eye, I schedule my first appointment with Dr. Grewal. She is fantastic! She is knowledgeable, and extremely personable. She does not rush you, and is extremely thorough. We are currently working on trying to fit me with contacts after a long break from them.
My particular vision issues are not the easiest. Dr. Grewal has been so patient and persistent with trying different options. I also have a completely different opinion on the office staff. Granted. I haven't had to deal with any insurance or additional issues requiring their help. However, I can attest to the fact that they have all been extremely friendly and welcoming.
I was referred to this office by not only a friend, but also local people via a Facebook group. I hope that others with positive experiences will join me in leaving a review. I am extremely pleased with this office, and especially Dr. Grewal.

There are a whole lot of choices in doctors offices that you can make and Zeiter Eye would be the worst choice you could possibly make. While the doctors themselves are fine, the staff is entirely incompetent. If you require any insurance pre-approval, they prefer to schedule you an appointment and submit the paperwork seeking the approval AFTER your appointment. "Dropping the ball" is a regular thing with their back office staff and your insurance.
They are guaranteed to waste copious amounts of your time. POOR MANAGEMENT and zero accountability are very frustrating to patients and they could care less. And this poor management is in ALL AREAS. Want glasses? Go elsewhere and you can save a fortune.

Love them, I have been using them since 2007! Working downtown they are very convenient for me to use. They provide excellent care. I have recently started using the the March Lane location and Dr Hand for an eye infection. I love him. He is very thorough and saw me weekly until the infection was all cleared up. He avoided surgery which was more work for him and better for me! I love both location!

There are tons of optometrists in the area. Find someone else. Staff is rude on top of it. Last time my family went they spent most of the benefits on unnecessary tests which in turn cost us when it came to glasses. Usually I get get bifocals and contacts, but I received only one pair of glasses before benefits were exhausted. My wife had to pay for the reading pair. Total rip off.

Zeiter eye group is a joke. I got kicked out. Most medical offices and hospitals have a statement on their forms saying the patient is responsible for payment if insurance does not pay. I almost without exception cross out this statement. It gives medical practices a "blank check" and an "easy out" if they make errors in billing such as using incorrect codes or poor documentation.
I wont be responsible for poor billing. I also refuse to pay more than the copay and what my insurance agrees to pay. I dont pay overages unless its arranged and agreed in advance. Most medical practices ask why I cross out the statements that I do. When I explain to them that they had better bill insurance correctly if they want to get paid. I also explain if they want to be paid for overages they better declare them in advance.
Most practices understand my demands and they work within those parameters. This became an "administrative" problem with Zeiter eye group and I was asked to leave and got kicked out of the patient exam room. This action by Zeiter indicates to me that they are not at all confident in their insurance billing and have a high error rate when billing insurance (ie lots of denied claims) or they knowingly bill for items that insurance simply does not cover. Its obvious Zeiter has extreme lack of confidence in themselves for successful billing.

This group is as good as it gets. Do not pay any attention to complainers like "Katherine" who is probably one of those whiney people who can't understand that even though you may have an appt, you still might have to wait because your doctor had an emergency or got backed up or? And that doesn't mean the other doctors/specialists are running late so therefore there WILL be people going in ahead of her seeing other doctors! Anyways, my daughter started seeing Dr Joe Jr who is extremely professional and my husband treats with Dr. Canzano.
Both doctors specialize in different areas and they are both very good. The office staff knows what they are doing and I love the fact that Zeiter eye has offices in lodi, manteca, tracy, and 2 in Stockton that I know of. There are always options for getting an appt. My daughter continues to see Dr Joe and if I ever need to be seen, I'm going to Zeiter eye.

My appointment was with Zeiter's new doctor, Dr. Joseph Zeiter, Jr. I was provided great care. The doctor took his time explaining the medical problem that was affecting my sight and corrected it with an inoffice procedure and medication. The staff was warm and friendly, putting me at ease. When I was ready to pick out glasses, I was surprised by their selection of designer frames and pricing. I would highly recommend the doctor and the Lodi office.

RUDE! I went here because I was having some eye issues and I will NEVER go back. Even though I had an appointment, and I was 30 min early I waited till an hour after my scheduled appointment time! People came an went in the time I sat there! Then the doctor proceeded to make fun of me for not having insurance and stated "I bet you wish you hadn't voted for Obama now." Please don't bring up politics during an optometry appointment!
And he could not diagnose my issues! Also he dilated my eyes without warning me, & told me I would be able to drive after! I could not! And I had to work later that day! RUDE! I hate this place.
