If I could leave a zero star review, I would. I scheduled an appointment almost 2 months ago for my daughter to have an eye exam and new contacts. First, they needed me to schedule two separate appointments. One for the exam. And the other for a contact fitting. My daughter's been wearing contacts for 4 years now. This was the first time we've had to have two different appointments.
We go to get appointment today and we were 10 minutes early. They ask us to have a seat and they'll call us back shortly. Thirty minutes later, we asked reception how much longer. They said we are next, and they will be out shortly. Another twenty minutes later we walked back up to the reception. They called back and said the doctor is coming up right now to get you.
We sat back down and waited 10 more minutes. I called my husband and said should we just cancel. As we now have waited a total 1 hour and still haven't been seen. As I was on the phone the doctor called us. I asked the doctor to hold on a second. He would not hold on for me to finish the call. I said just a second, I'm trying to see if we need to cancel, because we have another appointment to get to.
The doctor interrupted me again and said, if you want to cancel then cancel. So my husband said to cancel and we'll go somewhere else. So I did. I found Dr. Church very unprofessional and rude. No one should have to wait that long for a scheduled appointment. And no one should have to make two appointments just for an eye exam and contact fitting. I would recommend finding a different place for you optical needs. HORRIBLE service!

This place needs a reality check of how important keeping our personal information safe! I called to get an appointment for a consult. The receptionist said she needed to register me first to have an appointment. I guess "registration" isn't the best choice of words. she asked regular info like name, address, phone number. After that is where things go south.
Mind you, I have never been to this facility ever in my life. The receptionist then asks who my insurance provider is, I tell her, she asks for my group number. I did not have that at the time. Then she asks for my social security number as well as my husband's. That is extreme and literally should not be given to anyone especially over the phone.
I got cautious then. Again she asks for my group number on my insurance card. I again explain I don't have it. I need to download the app and get that site figured out. She proceeds to tell me to just call her when I have that info (but they keep my social on file)and we finish setting up my appointment. that's when I can have an appointment. Since when does any drs office require that you give social security numbers over the phone to have an appointment?
The receptionist didn't seem to see these vital information pieces as a problem. At that point I said that this wasn't ok and I'd like to speak to their manager. The office manager answers the phone and I explain I'm extremely upset that I have to give information that is the key to my entire life to them over the phone, but if I don't have some numbers right that minute, that I can't have an appointment?
Why is it that I can't come in person on the date of my appointment, hand over my insurance cards and fill out my vital info? Why is it that I can't have an appointment? She then proceeded to tell me that it's normal for all drs offices to ask for social Security numbers and group insurance numbers over the phone and not give appointments until they have them. Wanna bet, I replied.
Can any one who reads this review tell me the last time they called anyone dr, for an appointment, and the office said "give me your social, your spouse's social and group number ID, then we'll entertain seeing you"? I explained this is exactly how data breaches happen and office workers walk off with customer info, that should never have been in their hands in the first place.
Her answer was that instead of me being upset I could have just given her the info and had an appointment. Obviously I'll never be stepping foot in this building- ever! Folks beware of these antics. Read the bottom of your social security cards: this number should be kept private and should never be used as identification. I feel scammed and unsafe as well as upset that I'm only money. I'm not a person, and undeserving of even a consult, unless I provide extremely important information before they even agree to a time slot on their calendar. Wow!

After 6 months of my prescription, my vision started to blur and my eyes were constantly dry, so I called in asking for an appointment for a new prescription. The secretary said I wasnt due for another 6 months. So I explained i was seeing double and she suggested I see a neurologist instead. I explained I have astigmatism in both eyes and when I said I was seeing double it was more like images slightly ascued from images.
She scheduled me an appointment and said it would be billed as medical because I was seeing double. I asked her to clarify what kind of appointment it was and she refused. I asked her if there was a neurologist who worked there and she said no. I asked her to explain again why she thought I needed to see a neurologist and she said it was because I was seeing double.
I told her I've had astigmatism since I was 5 and that I felt it was normal and there was nothing wrong with my brain. At this point she was too flustered to talk to me and asked for the conversation to be over and for me to just come in and talk to them about it when i got here. I told her I thought I should go somewhere else for my eye care and she emphatically agreed, as if I was being difficult.
It is not a secretary's job to diagnose or refer patients to medical professionals. I don't want to pay for mystery appointments. I just wanted an eye exam with my optometrist and she went off about neurology and refused to make me an appointment for a simple exam. If my OPTOMETRIST were to refer me to a neurologist at that point, great. But this secretary was animate that she knew what was wrong and inststed I get a different kind of appointment she would not explain to me over the phone. I am a very patient person with an even tone. I am sure Sir could have come across as a "bad tone" but I was only trying to figure out what was happening with my care.

They have great doctors but their receptionist is RUDE! I'll take full responsibility for running late, but she rushed my cancellation, got annoyed I couldn't reschedule for the next day, and then hung up on me when I said I'd have to call back to reschedule for another time. I don't care how good the doctors are, any receptionist like that isn't worth going to the clinic for. I found a new eye doctor instead.

I love coming here! When I go in, there is a bit of a wait but I don't mind at all. I've been going here to get my glasses since 2018, and the first time I've gone in I was super nervous, but they helped me understand what they were doing. Ever since then, I come here to get my glasses and have no issues. They are always so kind to me!

This was my second time going here for an appointment and it will be my last. I did all my paperwork online and paid my copay. I arrived ten minutes before my scheduled appointment and after checking in I waited over forty minutes. No way should anyone have to wait that long for a simple eye appointment. I asked about my copay that I paid online and needing a refund.
They said I would have to speak to billing because I paid online. I asked isn't billing in the office now to refund my copay? I was given a card with a phone number for billing. I will go to South Ogden Eye Center from here out, thank you.

I was seen at the clinic by one of the ophthalmologists for an evaluation of a cyst on my eyelid and was referred to their surgeon at the clinic. I was given an appointment for a one week follow up at their check out process. One week later, I arrived to check in to my appointment to be told that MY APPOINTMENT HAD BEEN GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE! The receptionist was apologetic and kind and subsequently referred me to the scheduling clerk.
The scheduling clerk approached me in a very abrupt manner telling me that, "I TRIED to call you and I also sent you a letter in the mail telling you that I had to reschedule your appointment!" TRIED?First of all, I had no missed calls NOR a voice mail on the phone number listed with their office. I DID NOT receive anything in the mail indicating the change either!
Isn't it COMMON COURTESY to inform a patient that their appointment needed to be rescheduled?!?! And the fact that I had NOT been notified through ANY MODE OF COMMUNICATION is just plain uncaring and unprofessional! Not to mention how poorly I was treated by the "Scheduling clerk." Now I have to start this process all over with a new provider.wasting my time and creating more out of pocket expense! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR BY AVOIDING AN INSTITUTION THAT CLEARLY ISN'T VERY ORGANIZED AND MOST IMPORTANTLY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Dr. Jackson Lever was 1.5 HOURS LATE to my appointment and didn't even acknowledge this to me. I had a small cyst in the corner of my eye, which he told me was just inflammation from my psoriasis and gave me a steroid ointment, which obviously didn't work. I was told I had to come back not once but twice to have it taken out. I refused to go back to a doctor I didn't trust or respect, so I made an appointment with a different doctor who took the cyst out during my very first appointment. Don't go to this doctor.

I have been a client of Country Hills For 30 years. My kids all grew up going here. BUT, they have changed so much. I called for an appointment to get my annual eye appointment, ok I not great at yearly, and the get my drooping eyelid fixed. YOU CANT HAVE TWO APPOINTMENTS THE SAME DAY. I called my insurance and spoke with them. No problem they said, I called back to get them both the same day. NOPE they can't do that, billing said so. I'm done. I live 2 hours away, it's an all day thing for me. I'll find a eye Dr. that wants my business and shows respect towards the clients. NOT AT COUNTRY HILLS!

I had an appointment scheduled for 8AM and I got there around 7:50 and the waiting room was full! It took a lot longer to get through the line and get checked in than expected because of how busy it was. I finally got called back and was taken to an exam room where a clinician did the basic exam. After putting in the drops to dilate my pupils, they told me the doctor would see me in about 10 minutes.
The clinician left the room and I ended up sitting in the room for 30 minutes before the doctor finally came in. It would have been nice if they at least checked in or provided an accurate estimate on how long I would be waiting. In my opinion, clear communication is one of the most important parts of patient experience. The reason I give this 3 stars instead of 1 is because of how wonderful the front desk staff is.
They are extremely kind and want to help answer questions as best as they can. Also, Dr. Rupp was nice. I only had about 5-10 minutes with him. Overall, it was not a smooth process from a patient perspective but it's nice that it's local and that they can see as many patients in one morning as they were the day I went in.

I am so ANGRY. They got my prescription wrong. So I try to schedule and am told I have to wait a year because of my insurance. So a year later I finally get an appointment. (It took 3 months to get me in). I drive all the way into Ogden. Pulling over once for Emergency vehicle. I get there 10 minutes late. Wait in line to check in and now I'm 16 minutes late! So they BUMPED ME. They are running 10 minutes behind. Hello. It's ok for them to be 10 minutes behind but not me.

Vultures. Find a reputable business to spend your money with! Unfortunate that I can't support a local business, but they are very transactional vs relationship building. As much as I hate to say it, go to Walmart or Target or any other place as these idiots are blood suckers and hemorrhaging patients by the day!

My son started going to Dr. Lever when he was just 2 weeks old and Dr. Lever was always so kind, patient and helpful. He took the time to answer all my questions and to make my son feel as comfortable as possible. If you're looking for an eye Dr, especially for your children I would highly recommend him.

This review pertains to the Optical Center only. As another reviewer stated that he wished he could designate a negative 5 rating, so do I. We had purchased the replacement insurance for each of our children's glasses. My son had broken the arm on his frame and the arm was lost. We waited over three weeks for the replacement frame and did not possess the arm that was broken.
They would not provide the replacement frame unless all parts were returned. So, we walked out with no replacement frame. I asked for the return of my insurance payment along with the $25 dollar fee which we paid for the replacement frame. The employee who assisted me stated that the manager would have to do that. As she sat there silently I asked her when he was going to come out and do that.
She responded that the manager was not on site and she would talk to him. This was on Thursday. I had not received a call back; so, on Monday I called the optical office and asked to speak to the manager. He was not on site. He did call back and informed me that he had processed the refund. I asked how he had done that and he said he sent it back to the card we had used to make the purchase.
I stated that my family members (husband and children) would no longer purchase their eye glasses from their store. He replied, "I heard that, that's fine." I'm glad that business is so good that you can write off five customers in one day. No option or solution was provided to us. Both the employee who assisted us and manager only answer questions curtly and without qualification.
I would have been willing to purchase the replacement frame at their cost. I abhor businesses that are simply transactional in their sales. Excellent customer service, sometimes give and take, building a relational sales model is more productive and satisfying to both the customer and the business. This small business will always remain small.

My real rating is a negative 5. If you want to be treated like a human go to lens crafters, shopko, Walmart, literally ANYWHERE but here. Do you like resolving easy issues over the phone, such as getting a copy of your prescription emailed to you? Do you like to be treated like a human who doesn't have time to waste? Then this is not the place for you.
All I want is a copy of my prescription for glasses, easy right? Nope! Not here. You are nothing but a pain to them and they let you know all they are interested in is taking your money without giving you much of a product. A technician (not a doctor) determined my prescription and I was with an actual doctor for less than 5 minutes. They heard you through different rooms like cattle being processed. Seriously, I'm imploring you, do not waste your time and money with these people, you will regret it.

I was disappointed. I chose Country Hills because i have double vision and one of their doctors is a specialist. I had what i feel was a short exam by the doctor who had marginal bedside manners. I got the new glasses, the prescription was wrong. I went back, I was checked again by a staff member (a nurse or technician) and it was still wrong for the lower trifocal part.
I told the helper at the optical shop and said that I liked my older glasses for that part so she said she would use that prescription. Did not work. I feel that a doctor should have seen me for any corrections. I've struggled with those glasses for 11 months now and am now going to my old ophthalmologist who I felt did a much better job in the first place. I wish this was a better review, but that's my experience. BTW, the staff at the optical shop were very friendly.

The whole crew is GREAT! Professional, friendly, fast, clean, great products. Dr. Travis Dastrup was excellent. The young lady who completed my eye exam was very good and really was the most complete exam I have ever had. Sorry I did not remember her name. Very nice and the eyeglass sales department has some very nice frames and lenses. You will pay a bit more, but it will be worth it. It was busy, lots of customers getting glasses. They get an A++ in my book. Thank You,

I just moved to Utah from the east coast and needed a new eye doctor as I wear contacts. I experienced a new "floater" in my vision and was given a prompt appointment even though I had not started as a patient at Country Hills Eye Center. They were compassionate and thorough. Dr. Brodstein was very nice and explained my condition to me and told me what I needed to do if I had future problems. Everyone in the office was very nice.

They're competent and provide adequate care -- when you can finally be seen. They are masters of wasting your time as the wait times are unacceptable and ridiculous. My first visit took 90 minutes just to get in the back room. They claimed they were short staffed that day, which I would accept. HOWEVER, I've been seen a couple times since and the average wait time after check-in is 45 minutes.
I won't be returning, since I expect to be seen at my appointment time, not nearly an hour later sitting in a waiting room. If I'm on time to my appointment, I expect the same courtesy in return. As I sit here, I am in their office waiting for my elderly mother to be seen. It took 42 minutes to be taken out of the waiting room. I'd give only one star except that they do seem talented. It's frustrating, however, that they waste my time every time I'm here. If you decide to come here, expect an appointment to take half a day. I won't be coming back.

My eighty-nine year old father had an exam at Country Hills Eye Center. They had him alone in an exam room for three hours. The doctor would do some small thing and leave him for up to a half hour, then do a few minutes exam and leave again. He had no place to lie down and was so exausted it took him two days to recover. I tried three times to go back to check on him, but the staff insisted I needed an escort, but would not find someone to help.
When I tried to talk to the doctor after they did finish with him, the staff told me he was gone, and my father was so tired and confused, that he hadn't understood his diagnosis. I am so concerned that they treat such fragile, elderly people that way.

If you like a factory setting, this is the place for you. Lots of departments, lots and lots of exam rooms, lots of people in scrubs doing very specialized things. My basic, introductory eye exam took 2 hours. And at the end, I had to schedule a second appointment on a separate day and additional time off work to go back to be fitted for contacts.
They asked and asked and basically demanded I give them my health insurance card, even though I kept telling them that my insurance doesn't cover eye exams. The happy person checking me out said "This is submitted as a co-pay, you don't owe anything." Hmmm, yes I do! I have a high deductible, I'm definitely about to get a bill from my insurance company.
Now I feel like a walking-talking insurance claim. Their price for this 2-hour exam? $220. The price to the extra contact lens fitting? $75. I feel ripped off. There has to be some place better.

Reception was horrible. The exam took about four hours even though I had an appointment. I had an appointment at 8:00, I came in at 7:40 to check in and I didn't leave that place until 12. After two hours of waiting, I decided to ask if they had forgotten me, I was then told to go back to my room and wait. The doctor finally came to the exam room two hours later and he was rude. Overall, it was a bad experience and don't get me started on the part where they did the insurance paperwork wrong. I would recommend you find another place because this place is bad and it wasn't just a bad day thing because I've given this place multiple chances to improve.

Horrible customer service! If you can find a different place to go I would. I waited for 2 hours to be seen. When I approached the staff to ask if I was forgotten about I was told with an eye roll "No go back to your exam room, and wait." after blindly looking for my exam room cause the lady was to lazy to help me the dr conveniently walked in seconds after.
After I explained the situation it was handled HORRIBLY no respect for me or my time. So if you would like to be respect as a person and not just $$ I would say find somewhere else

I have been going to Country Hills Eye Center for years and have always had a good experience there. The doctors and nurses are great! They focus on your needs and give you their attention. My only complaint is the wait time. I just plan on having to wait forever at the office. I wish they would schedule the doctor out a little better so you're not sitting in his office for hours on end. ***UPDATE*** I just had another appointment here recently, and was treated well by the staff.
However the wait times are getting RIDICULOUS! I mentioned in my first post that you have to plan on waiting there, but it's getting worse. I watched my eye doctor walk past my exam room three times to go see other people before coming to see me. I only see him for less than 5 minutes, does it really have to take over 2 hours to see him? Super frustrating.
