Just came here today for wisdom teeth removal. I had to get on here and leave a review because I was just so blown away. The nurses and staff were just so sweet and incredible. The anesthesiologist was very comforting and I felt like I was in good hands. I've never had such a great experience in a medical facility. I will certainly go here again if I ever need anything else. Also, Dr. Mitcherling is amazing as well. So thankful for today! Thank you all so much

The Towson Surgical Center ("TSC") clinical staff was very caring and very pleasant. No problems during the surgery or during the recovery. As indicated by Michele Z. on the BBB site and others on Google Reviews, we had an extremely poor experience with TSC's "billing department". We allege the billing function to be fulfilled through their affiliation with AMSURG. TSC's billing representative is located in Florida with the processing of payments allegedly made by HQ in Nashville TN.
On the day of the surgery, TSC made us pre-pay what they calculated as our deductible. I was not going deny my wife the surgery required to fix her vision. Since I could not enter the facility (COVID prevention), my wife paid it when she walked in the door. But then after our exceptionally large top 10 national healthcare insurance carrier processed the claim, we found out we overpaid and were due a refund of over $400.
Since the beginning of 2021, many calls were made, and many messages left by me and numerous insurance carrier reps to resolve the refund due. Only one person handles all TSC billing and we speculate that person services other centers as well. It took constant vigilance over 9 months. The TSC billing rep did not return calls yet told the insurance carrier they did. TSC was told their contract with the insurance carrier was being reviewed for breach.
That may have broken the log jam. Then we were told it would take 30 days to receive the check which is unheard of in today's electronic commerce. We speculate they thought we were going to overlook that a refund is due as most people accept EOBs as presented and do not follow up. Or they thought we would give up. We speculate they were playing the percentages.
The trigger for submitting this review was that the local TSC manager would not even discuss the issue. Our money was tied up for 11 months. Please be aware. Lessons learned: talk to your doctor about a different facility that will bill you after surgery based on the insurance carrier contract, keep the insurance company included in the process no matter what anyone says, and pay only in accordance with the processed and completed insurance claim. Your money should not be held hostage.

Terrible. Take your pediatric cases to a hospital setting! Extremely unprofessional and unsanitary during these covid times. While the surgeon was extremely professional, the facility and staff members themselves were a complete nightmare. Do NOT bring your child to have surgery here. The procedure was 1.5 hours after I arrived at the facility with my son.
He is only 4 years old and had not eaten or drank anything since 6pm the night before. He was starving. No covid test was required prior to surgery. One of the front desk staff members was unmasked. When my son came out of surgery he was in complete disarray. Rather than being compassionate, I was walked back to him and told to calm him down. We basically were rushed out of the recovery room.
My son was not required to drink anything prior to leaving. The only discharge instructions I received were to call the drs number if needed. For a medical faculty I am in complete shock of the care and treatment I received. I would never bring my children back here for a procedure. Horrible Horrible experience

The center called me days before my surgery to inform me that they do not take dental insurance. I had to cancel my appointment after my driver and myself both took off time from work and I already had the pre-op labs and paperwork signed off by my physician. I have scheduled surgery three times (because I did not have a pre-op) and this is the first time they have informed me of not accepting dental insurance.

I have just had the most loving and amazing medical treatment in my life. From the time I walked through the doors and was kindly greeted by Esther Hughs until I woke up to the wonderful voice of Donna Hofstetter, I was cared for with warmth. My amazing surgeon was Dr Brennan Collins from Mercy and when I was getting all prepped, Michelle Jondo was positive and upbeat and helped ease the pain.
She is going to be a great mom. They were so professional to add to their genuine kindness and Marc Schott my O.R. nurse came out to introduce himself as well. Then walked in a man that I hope I never forget. Sanjay Trivedi. What can I say. I felt like my my father was in the room gently calming my fears and cradling me to sleep. Sanjay really cared about me and my safety and must have put me under perfectly because my body does not like anesthesia but this time I woke up after surgery almost near to feeling refreshed. Esther was patient in explaining the charges which get this. the price for the anesthesiologist and facility were a steal of a deal.
It was just a loving and perfect experience. I hope I never need surgery again, but if I do I'm tracking down, Dr B. Collins, Esther, Michelle, Sanjay, Marc and Donna :- I love you guys!

Yesterday, Yussi (my bf) and I were having an interesting conversation about a nurse he saw roll her eyes at me after surgery. We randomly decided to peruse the reviews left by patients prior to our experience. I was not surprised by any of the negative reviews, but did notice a pattern. So, I'm going to share my experience in detail for anyone else coming to this specific surgical center.
I came in around March. I was tended to by a woman named Ester. Obviously, I was nervous about a couple of different things: 1) the lockdown announcement and 2) the possible risk of opiod addiction - considering substance abuse runs in my family. 3) Any sort of TBI relapse by allergic reactions. Everything was going smoothly, until Dr. Louven was assessing what medication I was currently taking.
I listed my bc, multi-vitamins then also mentioned that my pcp had me take homeopathic remedies for depression & anxiety. I did not mention the primary reason why. I don't know what was assumed or whispered about me behind the curtain, when he stepped out, but when Ester reemerged. She decided to mock me while adding the liquid to my IV with, "This is so the demons and bad juju don't affect you." implying that I was either 1) an "anti-vaxxer" or 2) "New Age California hippy" personality.
In any other situation, I would have simply told her to "piss off", but I was obviously attached to an IV at the time and, well, that's bad manners & lacks social grace now doesn't isn't it? (Apparently, Ester didn't get that memo.) Fastforward, to post surgery: I woke up from a weird dream about a panicked man stealing a loaf of bread from me in a grocery store.
When I was trying to communicate my dream to Dr. Terry and my bf, it just came out more like, "He stole my bread! I don't even like bread!" *insert eyeroll from Ester that my bf noticed, but ignored* Cons: - I understand nurses deal with a lot behind scenes and sometimes abusive behaviour from both patients and higher ups. However, Ester can come off really rude & unprofessional. Had I done ANY of Ester's micro aggressive nonsense to a patient - no matter how much I didn't like a patient or agree with him/her/them - the surgeon I worked for in Beverly Hills, would have handed me my ass along with a possible pink slip. - The billing & collections department can be a bit too aggressive.
Even more so if you had a mishap (like we did) with Cigna suddenly cancelling our enrollment without notifying DTLR HR. Pros: - The in-take administrative team is quick and efficient. Dr. Terry is super chill, down-to-earth, and a total badass. As is Theresa (his wife & administrative manager). - The nurses are quick and efficient and will not let you roam around naked post-op. (I know this because apparently, I tried.) Overall: My advice is to ask for either the elder nurse or the cute petite nurse with red hair. They seem to care about their patients and did not exhibit the attitude that Ester had during my specific experience.

Was scared to death, petrified upon arrival for a larger surgery. From the moment my husband and I walked in the entire staff made us feel welcome, warm and like I was the only patient even though there were several others at the same time. Every nurse, anesthesiologist, doctor, PACU team made sure I was comfortable and relaxed the entire time I was there. I am thankful in today's medical community teams like this exist.
