Services
Bellingham Anesthesia Associates is a group of anesthesiologists who practice throughout Whatcom County and in select Skagit County locations. Our physicians are dedicated to delivering the highest quality of anesthesia care with compassion, competence, and respect in a wide range of settings.
Your body relaxes all of its muscles when you receive anesthesia or sedation, including the one that keeps food and liquids in your stomach. This can damage your lungs and may lead to pneumonia. The American Society of Anesthesia has developed rules for eating and drinking prior to surgery based on evidence from studies.
After going through the admission process you will be called up to the "holding area." This is next to the operating room and is where you will meet your anesthesiologist. The two of you will review your medical history and discuss the plan for your anesthesia. There are a variety of techniques used for different types of surgery.
We provide anesthesia services to multiple outpatient locations throughout Bellingham. Whether you are having a knee arthroscopy at Pacific Rim or a cataract replacement at Bellingham Surgery Center, you can be certain that you will receive the highest quality of anesthesia care our community can offer.
Our physicians care for children at St. Joseph Hospital and the surgery centers throughout Bellingham. We are all trained to administer anesthesia to children safely and compassionately. Before your child goes back to the operating room, you will get a chance to meet with the the anesthesiologist who will be caring for him.

I have had excellent care from this group of professionals. Surgery is always a bit scary for me due to many allergies (including propofol!) Kudos to Dr. Spilker, Dr. Sneed, Dr. Pitsch, Dr. Schoene, and especially Dr. Atkins, who used ondansetron prior to induction of etomidate and miraculously avoided the severe vein inflammation I've had in the past. My gratitude to you all!

As was stated by someone before, I did not choose Bellingham Anesthesia Associates, my surgeon did. BAA required that I pay upfront. They would not deal with my insurance company because they said they did not contract with them. What a bunch of blarney! They made ME bill my insurance company. I know nothing about insurance, claims, billing, codes, ineligible costs, adjustments, etc.

But I had to educate myself. When I sent the paperwork to my insurance, they deducted half the costs that BAA charged as adjusted charges. And THEN sent the payment to BAA. So currently, BAA has my payment for the full amount PLUS the insurance companies payment of the adjusted amount. What a scam!

Pretty sure I had a fired janitor working on me and poking me in the back with needles doing a spinal tap that leaked and put me back in the hospital. Regardless I had to pay for this low grade service I received, when I thought I settled, they sent the rest to collection! My fault!

When you go to the emergency room and have surgery you do not pick Bellingham Anesthesia to be there for your surgery--Peace Health does. On that note. I had an ER surgery and have decent insurance which paid out tens of thousands of $$$ for my procedure. I'm barely able to even keep my insurance so when the bills came in for "my share" I was overwhelmed and Peace Health gave me a Financial Asst form that I completed and sent in months ago.

They finally came back with a letter stating that my financial situation was one the would give me 100% clear on my outstanding balance. That was a relief. HOWEVER, I called Bellingham Anesthesia to let them know and the billing rep told me "they do not participate in charity" How insulting first of all and I didn't hire them PH did. So they sent me to collection etc. FYI These guys give zero thought to you as a person.they "don't participate in charity"
