Just like mechanical devices, human bodies are subject to wear and tear from use. Degenerative disorders are sometimes due to the process of normal aging and/or wear and tear. Once a new technology has been demonstrated to be safe and effective, we do our own investigation and research to evaluate whether it is appropriate for patients.
There are a number of disorders that can be responsible for inflicting back pain. Besides sore muscles and sprains, there are congenital and degenerative diseases, infections and, on rare occasions, tumors that can affect the bony and soft spinal tissues. The spine is a compact environment occupied by bony structures, groups of muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves all living side by side. This arrangement is similar to a neighborhood (spinal column) where the homes (vertebrae) have been built close together.
A clue to answering this question is found in the meaning of each word. Spinal refers to the spine. Stenosis is a medical term used to describe a condition where a normal-size opening has become narrow. The most common area affected is the lumbar spine followed by the cervical spine. Are there particular spinal structures that are affected?

Came in once and the doctor gave me trigger point injections. They seemed to work and I have no more pain. I am very happy.

Went to visit the doctor today as a new resident from another state with a disc herniation. They said they need my medical records in order to help, and that there is not much to do but offer a safe haven. However, wouldn't it make sense to ask for this information to be released prior to seeing the patient or setting the appointment. Spent a co payment for no reason to be left with no plan of action and to be seen for literally 3-5 minutes the most. Very unprofessional and the lack of care is very concerning.

Please reconsider The pain management doctor and spine surgeon in this office, Dr. Estes. The office's handling of paperwork is casual at best and even though my referral was faxed over twice, Carol told me to have my doctors office "do it again". I asked if I could at least schedule the visit with the promise that I would have my referring doctor refax the official referral. Carol likes to tell you what she can't or won't do and refused any help to me at all.

Dr. Burack is a very compassionate and helpful doctor. He's been extremely helpful in diagnosing my back pain and designing a treatment plan that has me getting more and more mobile as each day passes. When I started treatment about two months ago, I had difficulty walking short distances, but yesterday I walked 6 miles. Dr. Burack recommended physical therapy which as been a huge help! I highly recommend Dr. Burack.

I have been seeing Dr Steven Burack for over a year now to help manage the pain in my hip. He provides excellent advice, is very skilled and exact when a shot is administered and I appreciate that he does it with a sense of humor.

I personally have had the distinct benefit of being treated by Dr. Eidelson and working his practice. Prior to being treated for herniated disc and spinal stenosis in my cervical area (spinal area in my neck) the other doctors I had seen were at a loss to explain my symptoms and were chasing what were wrong directions in hindsight. The wrong MRI's were ordered, concerns for other causes were put forward.

This caused me a lot of personal distress during the process. Initially I was instructed by my interest to see a neurologist by my Internist. That is when I found Dr. Eidelson's practice through the suggestion of my Aunt and Uncle who had both had surgeries performed by Dr. Eidelson and had high opinions of the practice. After seeing the practice neurologist, Dr. Guisse who ordered the correct MRI's based on her assessment of my symptoms.

Once I had the cd of the MRI and brought them to the neurologist, Dr. Guisse suggested I had to get in to show Dr. Eidelson the MRI as soon as possible. The MRI showed that I had severe compression on my spinal cord. I was able to see the Dr. the next day and five days later was in surgery. When I woke up I knew that my situation had changed. The symptoms had been removed and the road to recovery had begun. It was a very delicate surgery and I was very fortunate to have been under the care of the practice.
