Dr. Bales is a skilled surgeon with a fantastic bedside manner. He is patient and willing to answer questions thoroughly. All the staff I had the pleasure of working with at Anchorage Neurosurgical Associates were kind and helpful. I would most definitely and without hesitation refer friends and family to Dr. Bales and Anchorage Neurosurgical Associates.

Dr. Bales, along with his PA and the entire Anchorage NeuroSurgical support staff are amazing! We have had amazing experiences with multiple family members needing neurosurgery. Definitely the best group of docs I have found in Alaska! I highly recommend any doc in their group. Dr. Bales was my third opinion on an "urgent" neurosurgery. He was the first of three neurosurgeons who actually walked me through the recovery process, and informed me that previous doctors, were over selling the surgery. Based on my incredibly complex medical conditions he encouraged me to wait and he would re-order imaging in a few months.

I appreciated his Direct approach and willingness to explain how rough recovery was going to actually be, plus the guarantees from others telling me I would be getting my lower body function back may NOT actually happen. He walked me through all the pros and cons based on my medical history and genetic results. Amazing doctor all around!

I didn't get the news I wanted but Dr Bales explained everything in detail. At first I said no to the spinal surgery. After seeing Dr Atkins at OPA for my shoulder; I called & said schedule me as soon as possible. She confirmed what Dr Bales said that there would be two separate surgeries. I can tell a major difference in my abilities to do normal activities. I have not been able to work for over 7 months. I fully trust Dr Bales and highly recommend him.

My initial contact with Anchorage Neurosurgical staff was at Providence ER, for an overnight stay in ER for a head injury. I was disoriented and dizzy and sore! After release I had follow up appointment with Dr. Bales and his Team in their office. I was impressed by their professionalism, attentive to details and kindness. All of my concerns and questions were adequately answered and explained- easing my mind and curiosity. It was a pleasant experience. I have yet another follow up appointment and am looking forward to seeing how this is going! Thanks TEAM!

Dr. Bernard has done excellent work on both of my back surgeries. He retired in December of 2021, so I did see him for my initial post-op check. However I was turned over to Dr. Bales as he was taking over Dr. Bernard's patients. When I went for my 2nd post op visit, I didn't even SEE Dr. Bales, which was disappointing. His PA was excellent but it's not the same.

She conferred with him a couple times so I know he was there but didn't even pop in to meet me. I had a pretty long wait time in the exam room also. The stuff that was covered with the PA could have been handled with a phone call or telemedicine. It took up a couple hours of my day, which could have been handled better. I'm not sure I would return to Dr. Bales for future visits or seek a different provider. You only get one chance to make a good first impression and that didn't work for me.

During my first visit to see Dr. Bales, the staff and the nurses were very welcoming. With their friendly and great service, I felt so happy especially being new to Alaska and having an appointment with your office for the first time. Dr. Williams Bales was awesome and very straight up with the details concerning my medical condition. I would definitely recommend your service to my friends and families whenever they come to visit. I felt like a human being when I met doctor Kralick not just another surgical number to check off in his book. He made me feel comfortable in his office. The front desk was fun to visit with, they were encouraging and sympathetic to the pain that I am in. They are just a great office to work with.

A very professional but caring and friendly office. Dr. Rosenblum let me feel like I was his only appointment for the day. He listened to me explain my health background and didn't cut me short and even asked clarifying questions. He laid out my options in layman's terms and helped me make the best choice for my care. He has awesome bed side manner with a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Bernard was pleasant, friendly, patient and confident and so was PA Sophia. She was patient, helpful and informative in explaining the procedure of my neck surgery that I was scared to undertake to begin with. With their friendly smiles and confidence, I put my faith and trust in them and the procedure was successful and it turned out nicely so far. I trust that I will recover very soon.
