In case of a true medical emergency patients should call 911 or go to the Emergency Room. If you are unsure you can call the office or the after-hours line for advice. For urgent issues Family HealthCare offers same day appointments, evening hours, and Saturday hours. If you feel your issue can not wait until the next time Family HealthCare has appointments please consider going to an Urgent Care Center rather than the Emergency Room.
Can I be seen at any office if I am a patient at FHC? You can be seen at either the Germantown, Rockville, or Olney location. We keep our records in an electronic medical record so your information can be accessed no matter where you are seen. Can you fax my prescription to the pharmacy? Yes. For most visits, as well as refills, we can electronically send or fax your prescriptions directly to the pharmacy.

The call center employee(s) have little to no customer service skills. They're impatient, short, and not helpful. Iv been going here for many years but I think I am finally sick of service. I guess it's time to find a new primary. The only people I will miss are the two ladies who do blood work - they do a good job.

Worst staff service. For some reason they don't take online appointments, so you have to call the front desk to make an appointment. That's totally fine, but you have to wait for 30mins till someone answer your call. The receptionist she even does not bother to pick up the phone, the background noise is very loud, it's very difficult to communicate with her, and more importantly she has an hostile attitude towards the patients, very unprofessional. The whole experience is not pleasant. Decided to change to a different location.

In this pandemic, there are no social distancing in the waiting room at all. All patients are sitting very close to each other jammed up on one side of the room which makes no sense at all. I didn't feel safe while in the waiting room at all. This was a great office when the late Dr. Skurla was there but it has changed a lot and I will not be returning.
Lab Corp is also in that office but the person who was there when I was waiting for my bloodwork was very slow and disorganized. I had to wait about an hour for my turn to have my blood work done and after waiting all this time, she informed me that I had to fast for one of my tests. Neither the p.a. that I saw not the nurse informed me of that so I waited an hour in a waiting room where I didn't feel safe for nothing (some patients were waiting outside the office in the hall bc they didn't feel safe to wait in the office). I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there.

I have been taking meds for ADHD/ADD my whole life and it is a controlled substance, when I first switched to FHC and asked them to put me back on my meds (I was off them for a while but anyway) they said that they could but to get refills I would have to call and every 6 months stop in for a "check up" okay fine not a problem. Things were going good up till about a year or so when I would call every month when I had about 5 pills left (so that way I wouldn't run out) and ask for a refill, then I would have to call every day to make sure that the doctor got my Refill request and its EVERY MONTH I HAVE TO CALL 2-3 TIMES TO GET MY RX!
Like I don't understand I never had this problem before. Also when trying to tell the front desk people about it they dont really seem to care and just want to try to get you off the phone.

AVOID THIS PLACE! I was denied care due to a balance they said I owed since 2015! An almost 7 year old balance. I was mortified that I received a call about owing a balance while driving to the appointment. It was pouring down raining and I just told the receptionist that I would pay so I could get off the phone but I do not have money for an old balance.
I needed care today due to a serious matter and I thought they would work something out. When I made the appointment a balance was not mentioned so why call a patient 30 minutes before they are to be seen? The unprofessional manner of the person who called was unbelievable. She called the billing manager and talked as if I was not here. I will NEVER go back to this place! Nobody knows my circumstances and to demand money on the spot and be denied care is mind boggling!

Horrible Service! I had to call for over a month for a prior authorization. Left numerous messages for the nurse and no response. I frequently have to call back to ensure my Rxs are refilled and the nurse has an attitude issue. Understandably I am frustrated for having to call for over a month and all she was focused on was shunning responsibility for poor service. The nurses here are extremely rude. The PAs are kind and attentive but they need different nurses.

I have been going to Family Health Care for over 20 years and have seen most if not all of the doctors at the practice. Most of them I like, a couple not so much, and of course I have my favorites. I saw Dr. Sadikman for countless years until he left to open his own practice, then I saw Dr. Martha Skurla until she sadly passed away this year. I am now seeing Dr. Patrick Whitman and each one of them have been wonderful, not only with their one on one care, but with following up, filling refills quickly, and most importantly listening to me and making me feel comfortable about trusting them to be my doctor.
I was on A LOT of meds at one point including a sh*t ton of narcotics due to a car accident, and because of already having a myriad of health issues and never once was I denied treatment, much less the medications I was on, or forced to change any of my meds. FHC and my pain management doctor monitored what I was taking, made recommendations and adjustments (with my approval) when needed for my best interest and then even helped me get off the narcotics when I reached the point of no longer wanting to take them.
I have never had a problem with them billing my insurance or the bills I have to pay when it's time to pay off my insurance deductible. The office staff has always been friendly, willing to help with anything needed, and more often than not returned phone calls the same day. I am always able to get appointments quickly, the same day when sick, and at the location I wanted unless I requested to see a specific doctor who happened to be at another office.
There is a reason I've been going there for so long and trusted them enough to bring my son to the practice when he outgrew his pediatrician. Even my husband left the doctor he had been seeing and started coming there. He didn't care for one of the doctors he saw, but went back and found one that he did like. If for some reason you don't mesh with one of the doctor's, there are plenty of others to see and I'm certain one of them will work for you.

Be aware that this office will code your physicals for whatever they feel like, so your insurance may NOT cover it. I have one of the best possible health care insurances and it did not covered my last physical there because they did not use the proper code. Neither the doctor nor the office manager care about it. The office manager is extremely rude.
This will the last visit of me or any of my family members to this health care facility. On the other front. Dr. Rita Sharma is really unprofessional. In my first visit she prescribed me some medication and she never follow up. In my second visit, when they supposed to some analytics and she forgot about it, she did not even take a look to my medical history.

I have been coming to Family Healthcare for almost a decade I think. I was very surprised by the low rating so decided to leave a review of my experience. Throughout the years, I agree with a few of the reviewers in that administratively, Family Healthcare has gone down. Previously, I did not feel as rushed and interactions seemed more personable.
I can only assume that maybe they have more patients now and may need better front desk hospitality. I kind of feel many doctors offices in the area are becoming this way. There is a general feeling of over busyness leading to administrative inattentiveness and longer wait times. I also think this happens at offices where providers are highly sought.
So why the 5-star rating? My rating is based on the individual provider. I would rate Dr. Rita Sharma a solid 5 stars. I wish she still saw patients at the Olney office which I feel was more organized. She is always willing to pass on the knowledge she has and is personable. She is also very familiar with other specialist in the area and can direct to you one who has the experience needed for any medical issue you have.

My experience today wasn't the best from the doctor I saw. She didn't seem to be very pleasant when entering to see me. She made it very clear right from the start that "she couldn't help me" My question to her is "If your not able to help me than what was your purpose". I asked her if she could run some blood work and she told me "No!" I mentioned to her that "I knew my body better then she did, but she still wouldn't not run the test even with my concerns.
I don't want this type of doctor working for me. I have had two unpleasant experiences with Family Health Care, never knew that there was a doctor there that looks like me that's the only reason why I will consider staying at this practice. If this doesn't work, I will surely leave and take my families medical records and go else where.

I am so disappointed in this practice. It took months to get a flu shot. Later I they diagnosed me with Ovid and they called me two weeks later after I had been in the hospital for a week. No follow up to speak of or attention. When the doctor told me I had Covid he made me feel like a dead man. Horrible experiences with them.

Dr. Rita Sharma is wonderful! She took time to go over my concerns and made suggestions that were positive and motivating. I did not feel rushed duing the appointment at all. When she called to go over my test results she again took time to explain what it meant and what I could do to remain healthy.

Doctor Schachter is irresponsible and unprofessional. See another doctor if possible. The pharmacy made numerous attempts to contact him because my medicine needs insurance pre-authorization. He is not responding to the pharmacy and claims that he never received the request from them. This is not the first time when he blames the pharmacy instead of taking care the pre-authorization paper work. Back in September, he came up with an array of excuses for taking over a week to contact me about the lab result. He is the least responsible doctor in the Germantown area.

I usually see dr Wollman and can not be more satisfied. She always goes above and beyond to make me feel "taken care of". If I call with a question she calls me back quickly and answers all my questions. I am so sad that now that I am moving I will not be able to have her as my physician. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wollman and her wonderful nurse. Kathy L.

Where should I start? I call the beginning of August to ask if they accept Medicare. Since they are listed on the Medicare website. The woman answering says yes. She also has a personality of a stale cracker. Mind you my mom recommended this "center" and I'm trying to talk her up and explain my situation. She gives nothing in return. just very dry bland answers.
She then says what are you coming for. I tell her I just changed insurance from Kaiser and was recommended for this center and i need to be seen and find a doctor. She tells me they don't do just because appointments. Granted. But I didn't want a just because appointment. I tell her I need to see them about several things one being I just had a baby and have thyroid issues.
Less than happy to hear it she asks me if I wanted next available or to pick my doctor. I tell her I looked on the website and wanted Monica Brown. SPECIFICALLY! I guess she didn't know how to do her job (later on this). She tells me next available for Dr. Brown is Mid Sept. ok?! I guess I'll take it. Sept comes and I show up to my appointment.
The building signs have nothing with their names on it not even the directory. hmmm. Finally find them and go inside. I give one of the receptionist my info (insurance and ID) she then tells me they can't see me because. wait for it! I have Medicare! Hhhhmmmm that's interesting since i called to ask that first before waiting over a month for the appointment. Annoyed at this point because I need my thyroid checked and medicine refilled.
I tell the lady what had happened when I made the appt. I tell them I need to be seen, that I've waited over a month for this. She goes and talks to someone and they decide they are gonna take me. The manager comes out and ask to speak with me. She "apologizes" and tells me I need to check the Medicare website before going to any doctors moving forward. Umh I did, but I just doubled checked and they are still listed. Did I mention I had to get a baby sitter for my eldest and had a baby in tow.
I was extremely irritated and upset by this point and should've just left but I stayed because I needed to be seen. I fill out the papers and I get taken back to the room. In walks a doctor, not the one I requested. I think she's another nurse or something. I ask who are you. She tells me her name. NOT DR. BROWN like I requested and waited over a month for. Surprised?! No!
She send me for a EKG. It's not covered by my insurance! Of course. I also have to sign off on a bunch of other things that isn't paid for by my insurance. They send me out for blood work for the test she wants to check. The wait is crazy to get blood done. One person for an office that is extremely busy and had easily 20 or more patients in the waiting room.
I leave, but as I'm leaving the nurse comes looking for me because she gave me papers she needed. Overall terrible place, bad customer service, and overall the way everything was handled I would never recommend. I had waited for ever for this doctors based off her intro on their website and they couldn't get anything right. I make an appointment for my blood work and get told that some of the test are not covered because they aren't standard but more extremely test. And did I still want them?! NO! I wouldn't recommend this place. They are obviously money driven, and all about milking insurance and their patiences.

Remember the days when you went to the doctors office and left thinking-nope, knowing-you had care that covered everything that was not only bringing you to the office but those that were hanging in the back that were easier to put off till whenever? Me either. Andrea Eyestone will provide you with exceptional care. She is everything in medical care we want.
She followed up by phone with me to monitor my health condition several times to check, asking me questions to evaluate current condition. I am grateful to have her in charge of my care. I am completely confident in her evaluations.

Find another office and DO NOT see a PA here. It could risk your life and/or prolong your health issues. Years ago, a PA at this practice mis-diagnosed me saying I just pulled my back, when in fact, I herniated my disc. I called the office manager at the time, but it was brushed off. A week ago, a family member went for a shot (after being called to confirm the appointment) only to be told they dont have it when they arrived. **More concerning, is my family member wanted to speak to someone about chest pains.
He saw PA Andrea Eyestone who ultimately said he conducted his own stress test and she sent him home. Hours later, he had a heart attack. The doctor, Dr. Wollman, said this would be used as a learning experience for her PA. A little distastful, in my opinion. PA Eyestone has been practicing about the same length of time as my good friend (2 years or less).my friend said it is basic 101 that anyone with chest pains needs an EKG, etc. regardless, the patient is NEVER sent home.
The difference between those who graduate top or their class and those who do not, I suspect. PAs in this office have sadly given PAs a bad reputation and I highly advise you seek medical services elsewhere.

I've been going to this practice for about 10 yrs. now. I started out with Dr. Skurla, but switched after about 2 years. My regular physician is Dr. Sharma. I like her because she doesn't act like she is trying to get you out of the door in order to see the next patient. She is very supportive and does not lecture you, even if you do have a few vices.
I don't like going to the doctor, but if I have to go, at least I know I will be treated respectfully and listened to. I've also seen Dr. Howard and Nils Brownworth (PA) and had good experiences. Both were very thorough. I actually think the wait time has lessened since they moved to the new location (near Holy Cross Hospital) about a year ago.
It certainly is a better waiting experience compared to their crowded offices at their previous location. I'm sorry others have had such a bad experience; perhaps they should try seeing another doctor in the practice.

I was in need for an annual checkup and a primary care physician. I was referred to this office by two of my close friends. It was really to get an appointment, I'm not really picky, so I was ok to be seen by a nurse practitioner. I live in Germantown and it was a little confusing to find this office. It's right off observation drive but when you drive into a long driveway, it takes you to the holy cross hospital.
You just drive a little further up the street and you will see medical building. I slowly passed by the office and I was lucky enough to get a front spot right in front of the building (there is only 2 spaces for this office). I heard some other patients had a hard time finding parking. I heard someone explain if you go pass the building and around there is a parking garage. It's the first parking garage for patients, if you pass that one you end up in the employee parking garage.
I went further pass it up the street and it leads to a dead end. This office has 3 welcoming desks for checking in, filling out paperwork or answering questions. Checking in was really fast, if you already print out paperwork, which is strongly suggested on the website. I was called up for my appointment and they quickly checked my weight, height and blood pressure.
The office was really big, that it took me a couple minutes to walk to my check up room. I was very pleased that after changing into my checkup gown, the nurse practitioner did not take long at all to come to my room. Everything was complete and I needed to get my blood drawn. They have a lab inside the office. I didn't know that I had to fast before. I'll be back for another visit. This office was very clean, fast, organized and efficient.

Booked an appointment in order to have a very standard prescription refilled. Appointment was at 9:30, and wasn't called for until 10:10 (I had two young kids with me, so that added to the fun). Subsequently, they spent ~5 mins with me as they took my weight and vitals. $20 co-pay. There's so much wrong with this process and yet another doctors office not doing anything about it to change the cost and process. They are simply here to make money, that's it.

Been coming here for probably about 20 years. I like every doctor I've seen in all those years except one. I never have to wait long. It's hard to get ahold of them if you call within the last 1/2 hour. I will be on hold and it will roll over to their after hours line if I'm still on hold when they close. But they do answer phones throughout the lunch hour and I like that.
