A podiatrist, or doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM) is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of foot, ankle and lower leg conditions. Podiatrists, like medical doctors and doctors of osteopathic medicine, have a rigorous school curriculum before becoming a doctor. Podiatrists attend 4 years of undergraduate college education where most major in science and also take pre-medicine classes (pre-requisites for podiatry school). After graduating with a BS degree, there are 4 years of podiatry school.

I had a painful experience three years ago with a podiatrist regarding two ingrown toe nails. I was quite nervous driving to my appointment with Dr. Lefkowitz. I walked into their beautiful office and was warmly greeted by Jackie and Brenda. Dr. L was professional, kind and courteous. I could not believe that it was a pleasant experience. He took care of my problem and gave me some medicine to cure the infection. I highly recommend him and his practice.
