Hospice of Marion County has earned Deemed Status from the Joint Commission, the national gold standard for quality healthcare. Our Mission: To provide exceptional compassionate end-of-life care to our community.
Services
Hospice of Marion County provides a full spectrum of physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual support for patients with advancing illness. Hospice allows the patient to remain at home, in a home-like environment at one of our Hospice Houses or other settings, such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or even the hospital.
At Hospice of Marion County, our mission is to provide exceptional support for patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes-86% of our patients are able to spend their last days in the place they call home. Our goal is to provide this professional service of pain relief and symptom management to as many people as possible, so that everyone may live out their days with the highest quality of life possible. Our interdisciplinary team makes frequent house calls; medical equipment, supplies and medications are delivered right to the patient's door.
Skilled nursing care, previously only provided in a hospital, can now be administered in the comforting atmosphere of our hospice houses. Our three hospice houses are licensed for inpatient care, equipped for the acute level of care required for hospice patients. Each patient is assessed individually to determine the appropriate level of care.
Transitions, a program of Hospice of Marion County, is a professionally managed, volunteer-based support system provided in the comfort of your home, assisted living facility, or wherever you call home. It's designed to assist those challenged by an advancing illness with a prognosis of one year or less.

DO NOT WORK HERE. People are so unprofessional and a bunch of snakes. They will sabotage your work and ruin your name as a professional. I was called a refugee and I mentioned it to my supervisor and nothing happened. There is no training process, it was like being thrown into the woods to defend for yourself and then get reprimanded when there was a mistake.

Working there felt like being in the movie mean girls. The back and fourth, talking behind peoples back, the lies. They will literally lie and throw you under the bus just to keep their name in good standing. If I can speak everything I heard about some people, I will end up writing a book. Admissions Manager Sebrina and Director Amanda K. lack professionalism, and moral.

And CEO Rick that knows the injustice that's occurs in that dept. and doesn't do anything about it. Just shows you can have a degree and still don't know how to act. Good with their patients but as employees, treat them like dirt if you don't fit into their little click.

Hospice of Marion County played a vital role in my ability to care for my father as he was terminally ill. They were attentive to our entire family's needs. Great communication. Caring and helpful staff. I really can't think of a single bad thing to say. I am so grateful for the gift of being able to care for my dad. I couldn't have done it without them.

What would you say if the head nurse called you and said your mom had passed then hung up on you? Yes that happened. When my sister called back, Bob said it had been a mistake and the line went dead. She called back again and no one answered! Appalling! (This occurred at Legacy House) Follow up post. I will say that after this incident occurred, the continued care and support for my Mom was outstanding. Nursing staff and Desiree the social worker were very caring, accommodating and helpful thru the end of life experience. No one ever apologized for the incident, but the follow on care my Mom received made me more comfortable than I originally was.

Very dissatisfied with this hospice company. Nurse came in morning to check on my grandmother as she progressively got worse we called hospice again and they never came back. They waited until she died.

I just want to say that these people are doing the work of God. Every single person I interacted with Debbie, Deb, Crystal, Wayne, Laura and Shelley were outstanding. They were so incredibly accommodating to my grandmother and took the immense pressure away from us with their care and expertise - I'm truly blessed to have met these wonderful people and I'm so thankful the work and the service you all provide. Thank you so much.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY! They are so unprofessional. I was told I had a position at this company just awaiting my background check. That was before Christmas. Called today to check on it only to find out they went with someone else. Now a courtesy call or something would've been nice so I didn't put my job search on hold thinking I already had a job. But no they didn't care. And a company like that isn't a good one to work for in my honest opinion. -Robin Andrews

We have this Hospice for my husband, His one main Nurse and one main Aide and social worker are awesome. The problem is when are aide could not come two days they could not cover for her. Left us high and dry and that is wrong. Our nurse could not come fix my husbands Cath on Fri said another nurse would come well still haven't seen them it is Sunday afternoon.

I am upset the bed sore we have worked so hard on to close up is now open again due to leeking cath keeping his bottom soaked. The Hospice we first signed up with could not come here because we are across Lake County lines just in Marion County even though they were closer. What I am saying is this Hospice who has accepted my husband needs to step up and do their job.

Not having another nurse or aide that will cover for our main ones is unexpectable. Who is going to be their for when he dies? They going to wait to come here until our nurse is able. Missing a bath on a Fri is not so bad I can wash him up It was the Monday after that upset me our nurse even said they needed to cover it and they said no one could. So I am not happy with this Hospice.

It's is with complete humility and gratitude that we write this review. We could never have gotten through one of the toughest times of our lives without the care and love of the hospice critical care nursing staff and caseworker. Today we lost our dear mother and the hospice staff walked us through the process with complete dignity. The way they gently spoke to our mom as if she was their own warmed our hearts. They not only loved and cared for our mom but us. Hospice of Marion County was a blessing for our family. Thank you, thank you, thank you

My father received substandard care at a bad hospital Ocala Regional then his horrible girlfriend allowed him to be shipped off to Hospice in Ocala and five days later he was dead. I know if he had gone to a better hospital he would have recovered and then I believe hospice killed him.with morphine medication. They claimed they were not told any family existed.

They gave me the run around would not show me medical records and tried to convince me I needed a psychiatrist when I was upset over it. My father had dementia and we were never told about it or given a chance help him. He is dead now and they know it.

This store has the best stuff! A little bit of everything, you never know what you are going to find. They have furniture, jewelry, clothing for men and women, household, shoes, books, golf clubs and accessories. I also donate to this store, as I know 100% of the sales go to Hospice Care. That's more than I can say for Goodwill. Its like a treasure hunt everytime I visit!
