The head of the grounds crew harassed me about taking a walk on the campus (very common for families to do on the weekend) and told me he would call the cops on me for looking at mushrooms and birds. Maybe this should be left to the security guards if it is illegal to walk there midday?

Neglected a young man's mental health which led to him having an incorrect diagnosis which, in turn, triggered severe mental health issues for another family member and a "awwwww you'll be fine" from one of the front desk workers.

Admission processes are traumatic and discharge plans are abysmal. People who are in mental crises should not also have to contend with such incompassion from a mental health provider

Been there 3 times and 3 times been treated like it's a crime to have mental health issues. Staff treats the people who are suffering, horribly. They are only there for a paycheck. Very pathetic.

I was here not that long ago. The staff were terrific and on top of everything when needed. I loved the walks outside on the grounds. I looked forward to them everyday. A couple times a day for the most part. There was a good staff level the unit seemed to be staffed well as far as staff and patients go. When someone wanted to talk they were their for that person. Including me when I needed to talk. Groups were some of the best ones I have ever attended. And that is a lot of them. Overall I would not mind going back here.

The Activities Therapists are the best part of being on a unit. Some of the ATs go above and beyond all others. With a few, very bright, shining stars. However, for some reason during my most recent stay I noticed Butler Hospital is seemingly utilizing Occupational Therapists to fill in and take over the AT postions instead of just doing their job of assessing mobility limitations and providing patients with recommended mobility aid devices.

Why they stay on units and attempt to run groups when there are available Activities Therapists is beyond me. Its the most detrimental thing I've seen in a Hospital meant to help the mental health of its patients. Occupational Therapists lack the education and expertise to adequately run a decent group dealing with mental health. They run activities like making cheap bead bracelets or coloring.

Which Activities Therapists have proven capable of doing while providing actual therapeutic mental health focused dialogue that everyone can benefit in some way from. Every activity group I attended that was run by an OT was complete garbage. Every patient was disinterested in the activities, stating "they could do this at home." We all wondered why we attended an OT lead group after receiving excellent groups from the Activities Therapist on unit the day prior. DO BETTER BUTLER!

Take OTs off of the units! Not one OT could answer our questions about cpt, cbt, or any other modality of therapy. Nor did they provide any beneficial information. I'm remaining anonymous because I wanted to say something while there but ended up figuring out the person I was gonna complain to had an OT designation on their id badge. And I'll probably have to go back there as my insurance will cover Butler.

Partial program for young adults sucks. All of the group activities are centered around kids games that 65% of the time seem like have no correlation to mental health or coping strategies. The therapist acts more of a doctor then a therapist. Definitely criticizes more than trying to help and just asks you how your feelings and writes it down on paper. Gives no feedback. Psychiatrist will not put you on medications the first day even if you say it's urgent.

Since being here I have noticed a slight reduction in my anxiety's symptoms though but probably just coincidental timing. Also very annoying their keen on keeping your mask above your nose 24/7 even when you're in group 6 foot + spread out from each other. Update: day 2 and said they won't prescribe me medication and the psych is unwilling to even listen to my concerns because I had rested my eyes for less than a minute in group and said I'm not attentive enough, not taking into account that some people have social anxiety and won't speak unless told to do so.

Butler's inpatient program was the worst I've been to (out of 3). I learned absolutely nothing and it did not help at all. I also got hand foot and mouth disease. Their TMS program was amazing though. The entire TMS staff was incredibly helpful and caring.

The staff here is extremely rude and are not compassionate at all. There are very few great people here and for them I'm sorry. I'm sorry that they have to work with such inhumane people and honestly they don't listen to you and don't treat you like a person! They will straight up insult you many times and pretend it never happened. We are all people trying to make it in this world. Don't expect much, it's either ineffective therapy techniques or the same medications that you can just get from your primary care doctor. There's nothing unique about the care here, if you have anxiety or depression it's literally on par with asking your regular doctor for some antidepressant. They've also been billing me as uninsured for well over a year now when I've told them multiple times that I'm not uninsured. That bill is now at $2900

Butler Hospital inpatient was insanely traumatizing. butler hospital partial-treatment was incredibly pointless as the staff members never listen to your problems or take action to prevent any bad thoughts or behavior. Parents, DO NOT TAKE YOUR TEEN HERE!

My dad came in by ambulance with bad chest pains and shortness of breath and he's been sitting in the waiting from for over an hour. What has this world come too? I understand with the amount of COVID patients if that's the case send people else where!

The fact that this hospital uses QUEST for blood testing is the only criticism I have against this place. But it is a BIG criticism. Someone made a clerical error and failed to submit my bill to the BC/BC Mass and it fell into a void. QUEST demanding $400+payment and cannot reach QUEST. They will not answer the phone. This review should really be about QUEST. They are horrible. This has been going on for 6 months now.and still not resolved. I would suggest getting a blood test elsewhere.

My own personal experience at Butter hospital was very professional. The staff always puts the patient first. They have licensed clinicians and Doctors who are very knowledgeable about several dignoses. They have group through out the day, most of these groups teach you several different ways to deal with anxiety, breathing techniques, positive thinking and a whole lot more!

They are truly blessed to help people who maybe suffering due to stop taking there medications? Or I'm most cases there medications had to be adjusted to a theroputic way. Sincerely Joseph L Pompei

I have only great things to say about this place and the staff. I have been treated there for 15 years now. The Doctors are kind, attentive and they go the extra mile to help you. They saved me and changed my life for better. Thank you!

I have a loved one in their care now. She desperately needs alcoholic help and wants to be in a long term inpatient program. They are giving her a run around and not telling her the true about where she can go. She's on Medicare and I found a few places she can go but it seems Butler has no idea about them? really? All they seem to care about is money and trying to get her to go to their outpatient program. And NOT thinking about her needs. She needs long term care or she'll be right back in. she can't be sent home and needs to get into inpatient ASAP.

Brought my mother to this wonderful hospital in Providence, and was astounded at what great care these workers gave to her! I have worked in healthcare and in customer service for over 30 years and was so impressed by the care and professionalism in the Emergency Room. This one emergency room worker Tony made my mother and I feel so welcome, so at home, and so comfortable. We couldn't have had a better experience elsewhere. Unfortunately, I don't remember nor wrote any other names but from housekeeping to the Doctors they are simply amazing!

The care the staff gives is compassionate and caring. The patient's needs always come first. Thanks for all the good you do.

It is awful. This place feels like a prison. It is filthy. No staff to be found anywhere and the security are not helpful. My recommendation is to go to Miriam less than a mile down the street which is a real state of the art hospital facility.

I wish Butler could have done more for my aunt. She has made no improvements in your care. She turned on family members and has made threats to have us prosecuted in the past when we have helped her financially and kept her from being out on the streets.

My experiences with Butler have been extremely positive. I have had family and friends who have had great success with the programs there. The staff is excellent, very attentive to both family and patient base. The campus and its buildings are bright and beautiful providing a positive feeling, This facility deals Solely with addiction and psychiatric issues. Yes the food is terrific.

This places calls itself a hospital, its not. They provide services for Psych/Substance abuse. The staff have no compasion for patients. I witness some of the most unprofessional behavior. If you can go to another location for treatment do so. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and diginity.
