We are very proud to announce that Tennessee Oncology and BCBST (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee) have launched one of the most comprehensive value-based programs in the country to coordinate cancer care for thousands of Tennesseans. Wearing masks and social distancing is still required regardless of vaccination status when in patient facing areas.
Patients may resume having one visitor accompany them or remain in the waiting room while receiving care. Some areas, such as the lab, may remain restricted due to space limitations or other safety concerns.

Read original article HERE. Casting for Recovery's (Men)ding Lines series is back! Each month, we will highlight a male river helper, donor or volunteer who is supportive of CfR. Meet Charlie Penley, a CfR BOT and longtime River Helper who is passionate about both fly fishing and serving women with breast cancer.
During your care at Tennessee Oncology, you may meet and be treated by an Advanced Practice Provider, also known as an APP. APP's may be either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a Physician Assistant (PA). Nurse Practitioners receive training and certification beyond that of registered nurses, which allows them to perform examinations, order tests and treatments, as well as prescribe medication. A Nurse Practitioner's focus is to make sure your doctor's treatment plan is followed and your needs are met.
We understand the concern of treatment cost and have a team of experts available to answer your questions and to assist in obtaining the help needed should out-of-pocket expenses be more than you can afford. Our Patient Advocates are experts on the resources available through Patient Co-pay Assistance Foundations and pharmaceutical manufacturer programs that may help to offset out-of-pocket treatment costs. Patient Co-pay Assistance Foundations are non-profit foundations designed to assist qualified patients in meeting their financial obligations.

I am under the care of Dr. Meluch and the team of Tennessee Oncolgy. By team, I mean every step from the smiling, caring faces that greet me when I register to the fantastic nurses who watch over me and are so thorough and caring through each chemo treatment. As well, the wonderful woman who sets up my schedule around my crazy rotating school teaching schedule is beyond helpful.
And finally the finance and billing department have worked perfectly through all the insurance avenues so I have not had any roadblocks along the way. I could not be in better hands!

Dr. Alpa Nick performed ovarian surgery for me in April, 2018. She was very thorough in obtaining a diagnosis of my condition. At my follow-up visits, she answers all of my questions, even my husband's! I would recommend Dr. Nick if you need a gynecological oncologist; she's the best. My family and I feel very fortunate that Dr. Shipley recommended her to me.

First off Dr Nick has no compassion at all for her patients. She is not informative and acts like you are putting her out to do her JOB! She runs at least 2 hrs behind in clinic and surgery unless you are the first patient! I do NOT recommend her to anyone who needs just a little compassion and understanding of what you are going g through.
