Asheville in the 1920's was an exciting place! Celebrities, including F. Scott Fitzgerald and Edwin Grove flocked to our beautiful city, joining locals like Thomas Wolfe, finding inspiration in the gorgeous mountain setting. Adversity breeds innovation; however, and in 1938 young Doctor William McGuffin recognized the need for quality medical care for young families and children.
Many parents want to know what kind of experience they and their children will have at the doctor's office. They want to know how often they will need to come in, who they will encounter along the way, how long their visits will be, etc. At Asheville Pediatrics we strive to make every encounter (from website to phone calls to the actual office visit) as pleasant as possible.
We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days as week, 365 days a year! When you call our office after hours, you will be automatically transferred to a live nurse from UNC Chapel Hill, who will answer your questions or page the on-call physician as needed. We provide care to well newborns at Mission Memorial Hospital.

Always excellent and caring. My child went here from birth to 18 years of age. No complaints! I completely trust the staff and the care provided here!

Pandemic fatigue is real and everyone is tired of Covid, but the inhumanity and lack of basic human kindness in this practice towards children, specifically Dr. Tomkins, is appalling. If you are incapable of treating and communicating with respect toward children, maybe don't be a pediatrician? Dr. Tomkins neglected to physically examine my child (or speak to them; or run a viral panel) and because of his apathy and neglect, my entire household has strep. Do better. Our children need advocates, and this practice certainly isn't the place for it.

I had been taking my children to this practice for 11 years! We saw Dr. Martin, and I can't say enough good things about her! She was an amazing Pediatrician and was always so engaging with our kids. That being said, I'm only giving 3 stars due to the way we were treated by the front desk receptionist. We recently went in for an appointment that we had set 3 weeks prior. (I drive an hour to go to this practice, that's how much we like Dr. Martin).

Upon arrival, we were told that we do not have an appt. We did in fact have an appointment, and I had the appt card to prove it. Unfortunately their staff did not set the appointment for us. Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake and trying to honor the appointment that I had, she kept telling me that since I showed up with out an appointment that they would have to work me in and I would probably need to wait over an hour.

When I asked if they could just take the information for this appt and call me when it was convenient since they were so busy and it was just a weight check, I was told no, that I had to wait the full time or actually make an appointment to be seen. As much as I like Dr. Martin I have now left this practice. I will not drive an hour to be treated so rudely.

If I could put zero stars I would. My son was seen by Dr. Tomkins and I've never been so disrespected by a doctor in my life. Doesn't care at all about his patients. So sickened by how we were treated especially durning covid and having a sick toddler. When a doctor laughs at me for asking a question and says they "don't know" what to do is absolutely disturbing.

I could not be happier with the staff and doctors at Asheville Pediatrics. So friendly, kind, and patient which helps with little ones ha. They are dedicated to your child's development and well being. The town was out of power one time but they still saw my new born baby for a possible infection by flashlight. I recommend them to everyone I know with little ones :

I was so disappointed with our recent visit to Dr. Page that I seriously considered leaving mid-appointment. I only give the practice 2 stars because the nurse was very nice. Dr. Page was not. The doctor failed to introduce herself though it was our first visit. She told me that my 18 month old daughter would never stop breastfeeding if I continued to comfort her with it.

She said we should discipline her with time-outs (an 18 month old?!). She told us children (including those less than 2 years old) are manipulative. The way she physically handled my daughter with an almost aggressive manner just about made me sick. She never even tried to talk to her or comfort her in any way. It really made me wonder why this woman is a pediatrician. We will never return.

We LOVE Dr. Martin SO MUCH. We're so lucky to have found her! We've seen many other doctors at Asheville Pediatrics and have found all of them to be kind and knowledgeable. Our 3 year old actually enjoys going into the doctor (that's not an easy feat!)

Love this practice! I have raised my child from an infant to adulthood and had the greatest care and attention to my child's needs. Always a friendly voice on the phone and friendly faces in the office. They treat me like family! Looking forward to my grandchildren being cared for there though their childhood also!

Dr. Cohen is amazing! My two typical children and my daughter with developmental delay, autism and significant medical issues are her patients and she always takes the time to really listen to both them and me. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Very caring and smart doctors! We see Dr. Cohen mostly, but all the doctors there are awesome. They take the time to answer all of my questions (and I have A LOT) and never make me feel rushed. I also love that they always seem to be up to date with new medical studies and that they believe in the importance of vaccines!
