Most of the staff is wonderful working under very difficult circumstances. Covid isn't a joke. Thank you to the people who contacted me about my problem with my visit. FIX IT. That's it in a nut shell. No more calls to ask me what you can do. fix it. Now start "listening" others like me with compassion It's sad others have had the same experience.
Read your reviews. It's in black and white. I am not a rarity. So don't act like this is new. Fix. It. Thank you. I f you've talked with the person who tried to toss me out before I was seen then You Have Done Your Job. Hopefully it will help others. My special thanks to nurse Betzy. you cared. Yes name the people who do their best along with those who may have did you wrong Hopefully the good people will rise and be recognized too.

I went to ER gave list of my meds, & insurance information. I went in from a car accident & also has gastric problem. I ended up in ICU & being shipped out to another hospital. I never was given my meds, which ended up having 2 silent heart attacks. My gastric issuer was exploratory surgery! Then today, 7 months after my car accident they are hounding me for money they say I to pay for but, oops again they never billed my Medicare! Sorry, most people are very nice, food is great, the place is clean, but they almost killed me! Wouldn't send my goldfish there. Be aware!

I can't thank you enough for the wonderful care my mom received. Everyone, from the emergency room, the 4th floor and the ICU were nothing short of amazing. My mom and my family were treated with kindness, compassion, great care and respect. Dr. Jensen, Dr. Hassan, Dr Pavlov, Dr. Stemp and the entire nursing staff thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

HMC has improved dramatically over the last 10 years. IMHO it is a great local community hospital for myriad things that can go wrong They're not a level one trauma center, but for injuries that are not super severe, and other such ailments, and health concerns, it's a very decent place to go. And they now have Much shorter wait times in the past, and special triaging for children moving them to the front of the line.
Due to minor sports injuries I've had to bring my son there a number of times over the years. I've always been impressed with the doctors taking their time and having excellent bedside manner. I have a number of elderly family members go there for serious issues as well, and their treatment was always quite good. I would have no problem recommending this hospital-especially for the run-of-the-mill type stuff that tends to bring you into the emergency room. If I was having a heart attack or something, I go to Baystate. But otherwise, my local hospital is just right.

Went to the ER towards the end of January. None of my symptoms were addressed or taken seriously. When I got home I saw the notes from my visit in the patient portal and NONE of my symptoms that I arrived with were listed. Also not included was my insurance information, my primary care provider, and other crucial details. With that said, there are some people at this hospital that are kind and want to sincerely help people.

Hi, My daughter has been in the Er since 3:45 pm. It is now 2:03 am and the triage nurse working right now has been extremely rude and disrespectful to all patients. When my daughter brought up that there are people who have been crying since 11 am she told her to worry about herself. I called her to ask about my daughter and she got rude and hung up in the middle of my sentence.
My daughter asked her why they are not taking these patients who have been here since the morning and she said unless you're not breathing we can't take your right now and you're not gonna be prioritized unless you stop breathing. Other patients who have been waiting for 16 plus hours also complained about her that she has an attitude and that she's un compassionate. Sent from my iPhone

Hospitals always seem to get a bad rap no matter how well they care for their patients, so I'd like to compliment Holyoke Medical Center on a fantastic patient experience today. I found Dr. Mali to have excellent bedside manner and he took the time to explain things to me in detail before and during the procedure. I could tell he is very good at what he does, I had very little discomfort.
From the time I walked through the front door to when I walked out, from the registration staff to the radiology staff, everything was smooth and everyone was kind and efficient. Well done!

Was there thanksgiving morning. With my 15 year old. Primary Priovider Currie, Melanie was extremely rude and unprofessional. Her words to me where because of people like me their are people dying. All over a question about the covid vaccine. Mind you I told her I suffer from high anxiety. There is so much more to this story. All I will is if you don't have a kid heart to care for people then maybe you shouldn't be in the medical field

Paid agreed amount to their agency one time debit for hernia operation co-pay. Didn't even have follow up to operation but of course billed. And they keep on sending bills for the difference that agency discounted me to pay that day. Then unable to get anybody in billing to look at or adjust. Will edit review when billing adjust properly. EDIT Finally got a hold of a very pleasant lady in billing and she made the correction. Should not have been so difficult to talk to real person but.

This place needs a complete wash out of management. Don't listen to their "see something say something" culture. If you speak up you will get bullied out. Just go against upper management for 2 seconds and you will see what I mean. It doesn't matter if you are doing an amazing job and your patients love you. It matters if upper management does. Don't work here!

We recently spent time in the Emergency Room at Holyoke Hospital. From the minute we stepped foot in the door till the time we left it was an amazing experience! From registration to our nurse Nick and tech Colin and Dr Curry we were treated like gold! They were pleasant informative compassionate ( genuinely) with all aspects of our care. This place is a hidden gem!
They were so knowledgeable and AMAZING! Very efficient and kept us up to date often. Coming from a family of medical professionals it was so refreshing to see that kindness still exists. It truly made an unpleasant situation wonderful! I can't Thank them enough, from the bottom of my heart! We are so grateful for you!

Was there for 5 hours in August due to concerning symptoms of weird symptoms that have been lasting since March (pain, burning sensation in lower abdomen, random pain, dehydration, diarrhea, nausea) Tell me why they didn't do a Cat scan after hearing how long I was uncomfortable for? and just treated me for dehydration by hooking me up to an IV fluids Dr.
Didn't even come in a me see me just another nurse. Still have symptoms. Turns out you have to order cat scans now.what good is a hospital if they can't do x-rays/catscans on spot in emergency room? I am starting to think that patients don't matter anymore unless they have COVID. This use to be the best hospital to go to, now quality care went down.
And I noticed it is not just This health place. P.s you got a great nursing staff and they took care of me. Just wish catscans were ordered. Now I'm still suffering cause of my symptoms DRs can't treat if they don't know what to treat. still waiting on your Team to give my DRs an answer so they can provide the best treatment option. It i weeks later basically a month now and still no documents?

Terrible program for my loved one in the behavioral care unit. No ongoing support and therapy, laughable creative outlets, unable to get fresh air even though it is promised. Terrible follow up by the prescriber and social worker. It is like solitary confinement with pharmaceuticals. The only exception is some of the nurses/attendants would have an occasional conversation.

Aug, 15, 2021. 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. In less than 3 hours, from the door to the time of discharge, they was able to stabilize the elderly patient. Everyone was so attentive, from the front desk, nurses, technicians, translator, doctors and janitors. All staff was so serious about the emergency. They discharge with a care plan and important information for the patient.
I was able to see them working as a team. Thanks to all the staff, for the excellent service and special thanks to the the nurse Isabella for her extra mile. I don't mind to travel, it would be my first choice. Definitely recommend it.

One of the worst emergency rooms in the state. The nurses are horrible, seem to be right out of college and don't know what they are doing. I have a daughter who did an internship in the emergency room an the horrific stories. Horrible Hipa Violations as well. My daughter shouldn't know many of the peoples names walking in and out of there. It is a beyond dangerous hospital, try mercy

By far the worst hospital I've ever been to. As soon as my nephew was born they didnt check vitals, measure or weigh him. When the mother almost passed out after using the bathroom, they were scrambling like a front end at a busy mcdonalds not knowing wtf to do. I asked the "NURSE" when she was going to weigh the baby and she said, "I'll do it in a minute." When i came to the hospital, I didn't have to check in, give my id or anything. You can just walk in. They should shut this place the fuck down.

It always comes down to the people. There were couple of truly friendly and passionate health care providers, but the overall care was at substandard level. My father has been hospitalized for few weeks with terminal disease. We often found him in awkward, uncomfortable positions, sitting in his own feces. I personally work in a medical field and this kind of state of a patient is beyond unacceptable.
The very definition of patient neglect can been seen in this hospital. Unfortunately this is today's health care. Not including photos due to the graphic nature of them.

In the last year, I have had a lot of issues with my nerves. I have high anxiety and I went into a full anxiety attack and because I had a pinched nerve in my neck the pain went down my arms. Honestly, I thought I was having a heart attack in my mid-thirties. I kid you not. Staff was so kind and treated me well. We had a few laughs until I calmed down and was able to feel normal again. I also had to go in with my son who got pink eye. They treated him amazing as well. Good job Holyoke Med Center! What a turn around. I am impressed.

They told us it would be an hour for my son's results. That was on Wednesday. It is now Saturday and I've been calling everyday. Now I have to wait till Monday to find out if anything is wrong with my son! They won't give me my record number so I can look it up on the portal and they all refuse to tell me because I have to talk to the pediatrician. How does that make sense? No one is available to talk to me till Monday. Don't go here. No one needs such nonsensical games in their life.

I recently had a colonoscopy at HMC and received the very best of care from every individual I encountered. The pre-op and endoscopy nurses, the anesthesiologist and the physician performing my exam were absolutely wonderful. Although I was quite nervous at first with a spiked blood pressure, all went out of their went to ensure me that everything would be fine, and it was. I would encourage anyone to consider having a procedure performed at HMC.

Excellent care for chronic (hematology), routine (mammogram, colonoscopy), and urgent (cancer detection, surgery, radiation & follow up, also ER) care for me & my family. Small hospital, so the collaboration for our care has always been evident. We like that, never felt rushed or like a number. Is it relevant to note I also enjoy the gift shop/ coffee shop?

Back again for a muscle/tendon injury. Wait time was reasonable, considering I was in a lot of pain. New heavily renovated larger facility has more capacity, more and better parking, and more comfortable conditions. Dr. was a bit rushed at first, but then later gave me a printout describing my X-ray results, and gave me info to take home explaining my injury. Was released I now and have a follow up appointment with my regular provider. Would return again, but I really hope I don't have to!

Went to ER for immense pain, had Nurse Practitioner say "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" She didn't even look at me or order images, just lectured (I didn't want medication I wanted diagnosis and treatment). Then she and another nurse were taking about me while I could hear it, saying due to a specific type of med I'm on that I am lying about something I knew I had, possibly due to age.
Still in pain, in tears, and they left me in a room for three hours on purpose and didn't believe a word I said. Gave me a med that I know from being on it should have been taken with food, and didn't really care. Will never go back to this hospital again. Rude people, crap location. Left angry because I felt I wasn't taken seriously at all, was spoken to like I was a child, and although I was pleasant at first even though I was cranky from hurting all weekend, triage staff listened and understood, I ultimately left in more pain than I came in with.
Apparently they either don't have the correct doctors on call or they don't care to utilize them on patients they deem a waste of time, like myself. I very well understand there are priority patients with severe illness (a reason why I held off going for so long and tried to get an appointment with my PCP) but when I became desperate for orthopedic help, from an orthopedic doctor I stupidly went to a place I didn't realize had none of those on call.

Absolutely terrible. The nurses could give less of a shit if I felt like I was dying from chest pains and breathing problems i was having. Went up to the counter to speak with a nurse and this guy was texting on his phone, shooting the shit. After saying excuse me, he told me the wait time would have been approx 4 hours. WTF? My chest HURTS SO BAD. HELP? Needless to say i just walked out and took my chances.
Still alive, no thanks to them. Only reason i gave this an extra star is because of how attentive and courteous the receptionist was when i said i needed a doctor. she even got a wheelchair for me.

Working an overnight shift for a company that helps individuals. One of my residents are here sick. Tried coming through the main entrance. My first night I might have got lucky or something because people were leaving. My second time coming here I wasn't so lucky jus felt like it was a bit rude a lady(supervisor)coming out sayin walk around u can't come through here even after showing my badge.
She said I don't work for the hospital to walk around.like it would of killed her to let me in when it's cold n raining wouldn't been a problem jus I got dropped off will b gettin my car later n feel like its poor treatment she was leaving its not like I woke her up out of her bed. It's October 22 11:300 at night. Scared n Holyoke I'm six months pregnant n the emergency exit is a block away.
I really was confused because I was even told she would tell me where to go but maybe because we got into a lil argument I told her everyone acting like a bitch tonight because the security guard who I asked first to let me in said no walk around she said she tellin my supervisor n I told her I'll be tellin her supervisor n she don't own the hospital.

I went to Holyoke Hospital for an ultrasound today. They had a student start the ultrasound and she said the technician would be in to complete it. It was a nightmare! I was checking to see the progress of my pregnancy after having had 2 previous miscarriages. The student would not explain anything she was doing, or even say if the baby was alive.
I had to ask if she got a heartbeat just to see what was happening. She gave me a number, but said she wasn't allowed to give me any information about it. She wouldn't even let me look at the screen and told us we were not allowed to get even one picture! Also, aside from all of that, she was pressing extremely hard with the ultrasound wand on my scar from a previous c-section.
I told her to be careful because she was hurting me. She mumbled something and just kept doing it! I was at my wits end and about to stop the whole procedure, when she stopped and got the technician. I wish I had confronted the situation with the technician, but I didn't. I was in shock. The tech was a bit kinder, but sent us off with one very poor picture of the baby.
It was a very stressful and discouraging situation to say the least. The lack of professionalism was absolutely astounding! I would not recommend this department to anyone as long as that student is there. This is my 4th ultrasound in this hospital over the past 2 years. Although the others weren't nearly this bad, the staff is always quick and not very friendly.
They only explain things if you drill them with questions. It's really a disgrace! REVIEW UPDATE. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from the hospital's Chief Operating Officer, Carl Cameron. He was very apologetic for the unprofessional experience I had, as well as the lack of compassion and lack of judgement shown by the staff and the student in the ultrasound department.
He reassured me that changes have been made in the department, and this kind of situation should not reoccur. Students will no longer be performing ultrasounds on their own, and staff will use better judgement when assigning students to patients. Sometimes it's difficult to get past a negative or traumatic experience like this, but knowing I was heard by someone in the hospital who cares and can make a difference, really means a lot and helps me to move past this incident.
I give them a lot of credit for taking action and not just ignoring the situation. I will add two stars for the effort made by this hospital to address the problem and to take action to prevent this problem in the future. Thank you, Carl Cameron.

I would never advise anyone to go to this hospital; you might come out BRAIN dead if even alive at all. They are one of those hospitals that allegedly get incentives from the pharmaceutical industry; therefore, you could go in the ER with a BEDSORE from a nearby nursing home that neglects their patients.and leave HOLYOKE MEDICAL CENTER with an injections of ANTIPSYCHOTIC medication.and leave SEEING DOUBLE.

I was experiencing some chest pains & my husband took a chance on bringing me to HMC instead of the closer Baystate Medical in Springfield, thinking it would be a shorter wait. Best decision he ever made. They had me on a gurney & speaking with a doctor just minutes after my arrival. The staff was courteous and reassuring the entire time. I was given a battery of tests. The results were back quickly and we were on our way home in about 2 hours. If we had gone to Baystate, I probably still would be sitting in their waiting room.
