I don't know whom to be more grateful for, my friend that referred me or the staff and Dr Assil. The experience from beginning to end (of surgery) and follow ups have been great. I giggled when Dr Assil said, congratulations! I wanted to congratulate him for another SUCCESSFUL surgery! You've changed my life. as you promised. I have friends and family that will be coming to SEE you all!

Took their time with me and made me feel super comfortable with the whole process. Answered every single question and never rushed me, and always assured me that "that's what they're there for" and not to worry about asking or re-clarifying certain things. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to go here. EDIT 1 month later: Just did a follow up appointment at my optometrist and my vision is 20/15 (better than 20/20). Still super happy with my results.

I was truly impressed with the depth and breadth of the examination of my vision. I expected a few simple tests and a consultation. Instead, every part of my eye was mapped and evaluated, and I feel extremely confident that the surgery (should the retinal specialist sign off after my upcoming ultrasound) will provide the best possible outcome.

I received Eagle Vision LASIK from Dr. Assil. I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and service that him and his team offer. I wore glasses and contacts for a little over 10 years and received this procedure at the age of 23. Now I get to show off my blue eyes and get to fall asleep without worrying about removing my contacts. It was worth every dollar.
I wouldn't trust any other doctor than Dr. Assil. He doesn't just do LASIK. He performs many other surgeries. He is extremely talented and knowledgeable. As a nurse I work 12-hour shifts back-to-back. I am able to wake up in the morning and quickly get ready. I don't get fog in my glasses anymore, or worry my contact will pop out while I'm cycling ( it's happened).
As a soon to be mother as well, I'm excited for the new memories with my perfect vision. I'm excited to see my baby's face and be able not worry about glasses. The only side effect I have form my surgery is dry eyes (which is common). I listened to Dr. Assil and I continue to buy preservative-free hydrating eye drops. I buy the single doses for cleanliness.

Just had Cataract surg with Dr Guar at Assil Eye Institute in Beverly Hills. Fantastic! I felt incredibly safe with the quality of care I received. In all I saw 4 esteemed Drs, 4 physicians Assistants, various techs and support staff and 6 RNs. The place itself is low key and calming. I have no reservations in recommending Dr Guar. She is superb! My eyesight is excellent!

The staff is amazing there. As a surgeon myself I know the importance of being able to see sharp, clear images. I am very happy with the work not only Dr. Assil provided but also their manager Carina and two Optometrists Dr. Harris and Dr. Z. The procedure took about 10 minutes, was painless, and Dr. Assil made me feel very comfortable and like a VIP patient.
He spoke to me throughout the entire process, which was very pleasant. I think their entire Institute and the process of which they take care of their patients is world renowned in my opinion. After 25 years of wearing glasses I can now see clearly postop day one and I feel amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Assil and team to all friends and family alike. 10 STARS!

If you have perfume allergies, do NOT come here. The lobby has a fragrance machine that is by no exaggeration, the most offensive amount of perfume, that I can no longer patronize Dr. Assil Eye Institute. Even the lobby employees can't stand it. I hope someone gets the management company to put a stop to that soon.

They have great advertising! I had been planning to have cataract surgery for a couple of years, and started seeing Dr. Gaur at Assil Eye Institute on the recommendation of my ophthalmologist. I wish the surgery had gone well. I endured many disturbing side effects during the first 2 weeks, and to Gaur's credit, I went in for several follow-up visits. Finally, around week four, my vision cleared and I was beginning to see clearly in my dominant eye for the first time in years. Then, one evening, a huge black spot appeared right in the center of my field of vision.
I went in the next day, and Dr. Gaur explained that it was a "floater", explained the physiological causes of the floater and it "should" go away, but if it didn't, I' "get used to it". It appeared there was a huge black fly crawling on everyone face and really affected my vision. It was recommended I make a follow up visit with Dr. "P", who specialized in retinal surgery. Dr. P smugly assured me the floater had "nothing to do with the surgery", and that floaters were a "natural consequence of aging". I've never heard so much bunk in my entire life.
I insisted that she fix it. She recommended I wait six weeks and if it hadn't gone away, come back in for a followup appointment. It has now been a month since the thing appeared. Now, it is somewhat lessened in size, and has dispersed into a field of floaters that adversely affects my vision every day. Now of course, it will be impossible to laser it out.
When they could have done something about it, they punted. I would not trust them to do my other eye, and I wouldn't trust them to do your's, either. I will go to UCLA's vision center instead and I'm just so very sorry I didn't go there in the first place.

It's now been 5 years since my second lasik surgery with Dr Assil and I feel compelled to share my story given what I've been going through the last few eyes. First time I had surgery 15 plus years ago the results were was great. Second time. not so much. Dr. Assil is a great doctor. but I believe his recommendation on what I type of surgery I should get my second time around was a mistake.
I had two choices. choice #1 get the surgery so both eyes see great in the distance but I would need reading glasses immediately. Choice #2. make it so both eyes have a different prescription so I can see in the distance and see near without glasses but I would still eventually need reading glasses. I asked him his opinion and he said do #2 so you can see both near and far.
I listened and took his advice. After the surgery it seemed ok, but it was never great like the first time. My vision was always a little off but bearable. But, after a year or two it started to change and one eye was getting blurry faster than I had anticipated. The last few years have been gradually worse with one eye being off which has brought on a lot of headaches and discomfort.
Bottom line, I wish I had done choice #1 and not opted for a different prescription in both eyes. That was a mistake. Again, Dr. Assil is a good doctor and a pro. I just think his advice in my situation was not the right way to go.

From time to time my eyes would get inflamed. I would go see Dr. Pilyugina at Assil Eye Institute. She was referred by my old optometrist. Dr. P. is very knowledgeable and always stays so calm when I am stressed from the inflammation. Even though now I don't work close to Assil Eye Institute anymore, I still drive all the way there to get treatment.
When I tried to call other clinics, my appointment would always be like a week or two weeks away. Whereas at Assil, the staff would try to get me an appointment to see a doctor right away because you don't want to wait too long to treat eye inflammation (uveitis).

They have they worst billing manager working for them. Go somewhere else. They will ruin your credit. That April Johnson is very ghetto and treats people disrespectful. They send my to collection after my insurance paid them. Even after explaining to them that the bill had been paid for Johnson hanged up the phone on me and still send me to collection. Please go somewhere else. After talking to other people I am not the only person they have done this to.

I went in a month ago for the initial consultation. Every single staff member I encountered was very pleasant. Best experience I have ever had at a doctor' office. I am just trying to find the right day to schedule a removal of a conjunctival nevus from my eye procedure. It is an old eye scar that I got 18 years ago and the Dr. (Actual Dr. Assil!) said he could get 95-99% removal.
When I have gone to see opthalmologists, at Kaiser Permanente, they would offer me surgery with only 75% removal and possibly the surgery would make the scar more visible or return. When I asked them if any other procedure was an option for removal, that blatantly said no.

I noticed I had a dot on the white of my eyeball and it started becoming more noticeable to me and it really bothered me, after researching I found out it was a conjunctival nevus a.k.a eye freckle. I searched for a Dr. to have it removed and I found Assil Eye Institute, and I'm so happy I did. My first point of contact was Nico and he was such a pleasure to work with, very helpful and a very pleasant person.
I live out of state so I had a video consultation with Dr. Assil. I had an in person consultation the day before my procedure to go over aftercare and pick up my medication for my eye. On the day of surgery I was pretty nervous but Dr. Assil and one of the assistants were so nice and made me feel comfortable, The procedure was done in about 5 mins and I was sent on my way.
For the next 2 weeks my eye was so red and didn't look so pretty I also had to wear an eye cover at night so I wouldn't accidentally scratch my eye, but I knew my eyeball was still healing and I just needed to be patient, give it some time, and in the end it will be all worth it. The 3rd/4th week the redness was pretty much gone and I noticed a huge difference, I'm so happy I had this procedure done, it wasn't cheap at all but for me it was 100% worth it. I'm so much more confident and happier.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Dr. Gaur is truly the BEST ophthalmologist you could ever find! Not only is she caring and compassionate, she is extremely informative and patient as well. She will always take the extra time to make sure you are comfortable and informed. I saw her for an eye infection and then saw her again when she did my lasik procedure.
I was a glasses/contacts wearer for 20+ years and had heard horror stories about getting lasik done. Dr. Gaur held my hand and was so nurturing in helping me with my anxiety. In addition, I believe you can truly know how good a physician is by how their staff is. Dr. Gaur's team was always cheerful, kind, and empathetic. They made sure my pre/post op went seamlessly and remained available for any questions I had. If you or anyone you know needs any sort of help with their eyes, you cannot go wrong with Dr. Gaur!

Dr. Kerry Assil changed my life! I started wearing glasses at 5. Got contacts at 12. Pretty much I was considered almost medically legally blind as a young adult with severe myopia and astigmatism. Not a candidate for Lasik. I turned to RLE surgery. Dr. Assil and his professional and caring staff are top notch! I felt like part of his family every time I came as opposed to just another "number" of a patient.
My end result has been better vision then with my contacts and able to DITCH my reading glasses at 45 years old. No cataracts surgery needed in the future. Thank you so much!

I'm not a celebrity or a famous athlete. I don't even live in Los Angeles, but I drove the distance from Santa Barbara to be examined by Dr. Assil. He was referred to me by my cousin who is an Internist. He had great results as did his father, also an M. D. I decided my vision was worth going to the very best. I was examined very thoroughly and was treated with care and respect.
All of the staff were exceptional. They answered every question and I never felt rushed. I can tell Dr. Assil cares deeply about every detail of his clinic. The surgical center upstairs was convenient and again I was made to feel very well taken care of. From the nurses to the anesthetist, everything was perfect. I would highly recommend Dr. Assil to anyone who desires excellence.

This review is for your billing department Dr. Assil. I had a Lasik eye surgery and my husband accompanied me. He had a Dr. check his eye as he was having a bit of allergy/irritation at the time. We gave our insurance and we're out the door. We never received any additional bills. Three years later we are being hunted down for a $300 checkup bill from your accounting department. We were at the same address for over a year after the appointment. This is very unprofessional.
