The receptionist is so incredibly rude. Whats the point of even having one at this point. You just check in yourself anyways. If their only purpose is to make appointments, then theyre terrible at it. They literally have one job to do and they have the worst unfriendliest attitude. I called at 8 in the morning to make an appointment, and she was already so snarky. If you hate your job that much just quit.

I was very thankful this morning after being treated by Angela and Kim McDonald. They were kind, professional, and took care of my problem in a very timely manner. Thank you I always find that Dr. Dlugosz is very caring and concerned about our health issues. I am happy to be a patient here. I have also worked with several other staff member and found them very professional and concerned.

After years of going there I have met 1 good nurse that tried to help. At this point you are treated as a product going down the assembly line. Since the self check in computer has been put in the secretaries are less friendly and more rude. Most do not want to assist you at all because it is all supposed to be done on the computer. After 3 consecutive visits and 3 rude secretaries I told them I was going to find a different Primary care physician.
I then received a letter basically telling me they are choosing to not want me as a patient. I am not surprised considering the way you get treated up front. The letter does have the Dr.s name on it and he probably doesn't even know it was being sent. Honestly, had to Google what he even looked liked because I may have met him 1 time in the 10 or so years of going there. Do yourself a favor and find a different Dr. office to go to. Something smaller. I am sure there are still good ones out there. Obviously I am looking now

I have been with this office for several years and rarely go for anything except my routine physical which in past years was incredibly rushed by the physician. When you go in they have you fill out a questionnaire for anxiety/depression. Best advice, don't fill it out unless you want to be charged additional! I received a bill in the mail, spoke with the biller and was advised if the physician councils you on counseling, medication or mental health it falls outside the spectrum of a normal physical and is subject to additional charges!
How ridiculous! So what can you discuss in a physical? Especially after they request you fill out a form to review those topics! I've worked in a Dr. office and have never heard of anything so ridiculous! On top of that they wanted to give me additional booster shots bc nothing was recorded in their records after having it done at an urgent care visit, had no clue I had been to windsong or any other specialists and never discussed issues with bloodwork I just had done the week prior instead they just gave another script for the same tests, which won't be covered by insurance because it will be a duplicate service! This office has no clue what is going on with their patients! They are only getting 2 stars for the billers empathy on the situation.

The receptionist is extremely unpleasant. I've heard good things about the doctor but if you have anxiety already about calling doctors, call back another time if you get someone unpleasant or go somewhere else. I hope to come back with a good review after I can get through to someone. I called, had all my info ready, and she seemed extremely bothered that I did not know that I needed a referral number from my insurance company, which I have never been asked before when switching doctors. I had no problem getting it and I even apologized for not knowing but she still was extremely rude. Again, will try again another day and hope I don't get her.

I have been a patient at Highgate medical for 34 years and the last few years the practice has gone down hill. Dr Bodkin & Sharon have been nothing short of amazing but the office staff is incompetent, extremely rude and unprofessional. They lack people skills as well as common manners. They have continuously messed up my billing and despite multiple calls and messages through the patient portal, their mistake were never corrected.
I refused to pay until they billed my insurance as they were billing me as an uninsured patient and instead of fixing their mistakes, they stopped refilling my maintenance med & have sent my account to collections. I will immediately be searching for a new primary physician.

I've only been once so far but my visit was pleasant and beneficial. The office is well-maintained and they take COVID precautions very seriously. My previous PC closed unexpectedly earlier this year and I was running out of my medication. The PA at Highgate got me a refill the same day.what a relief! I also received an important referral to a neurologist.
My previous doctor seemed content to try and treat my issues themselves, but the PA here recognized that I should see a neurologist and I'm very grateful as that visit has allowed me to get specialized treatment for my pain.

Terrible. Just poor all around. When you are under their care in the nursing home, Canterburry Woods, you have no choice. They are the only provider allowed in despite what is told to you by marketing and advertised on CW website. Dr Bodkin takes residents off of their medications without testing to see if their levels were restored. Bit D was removed and once tested it was very low and vitamin D was restored. Dr Bodkin was very poor with overseeing infection control. Once Covid entered the nursing home in mid November 3/4 of the patients contracted Covid and 25 DIED within 2 weeks. Just terrible.

The care that my family and I receive here is excellent, however it takes plenty of patience and deep breathing while dealing with the office staff via telephone. I wholeheartedly understand that, especially during COVID, their jobs are presumably very stressful but the office staff seem to forget that when a patient is calling, we are normally not anticipating an impatient, inconvenienced tone on the other end while attempting to seek medical care. Once physically in the office, the team is awesome, I only wish that would be conveyed while holding a quick conversation over the phone.

Except for Dr Bodkin and PA Sharon T. these people dont care about you. I refused a telecon with another PA that was 50 minutes late and was dismissed from the practice (after 40 years as a patient) by Dr Stacy Gugino, whom I had never met nor spoken to. These newbies really dont care about you, they only care about running numbers thru their practice$$$$$. Try another Family practice before you go here. If you dont you will just become a number in accounts receivable.

Avoid this place at all costs. Incompetent with an attitude. I would like to reiterate what everyone here has said about the office staff. After being a patient of 20 years and being a patient of Dr. Hirsch I went away to grad school. I returned to the area and started seeing a male doctor with dark hair, Dr. Dlugosz. Next thing I know, the office staff took it upon themselves to change my doctor to some lady I had never met named Dr. Gugino.
I went for the ONE appointment (I was sick and didn't have time to change it) but then next appointment questioned why this person was listed as my doctor. The office refused to let me switch back to Dr. Dlugosz. Still, only saw Dr. Stacy Gugino one time. I had planned to talk to the office manager Linda via phone to request a switch. Before I could speak to the office manager, I got this super long, poorly written and oddly emotional letter from Dr. Gugino in the mail saying she would need to dismiss me as a patient due to "lack of a relationship." Like cool I agree, who are you again?
When I wanted to be reassigned to Dr. Dlugosz I couldn't be according to the office manager Linda, since Dr. Gugino was being super petty and said I couldn't be seen as a patient there. Linda was nice enough explaining it but couldn't get around the fact that from an ethical perspective they abandoned me as a patient. It's in the middle of a pandemic, my dad just passed away and I'm immunocompromised, but Dr. Stacey Gugino cares more about her ego than actually helping patients.
They gave me only a 30 day supply of my life-sustaining medication which up until my call for an emergency issue today requesting an appointment they have filled for the last several months. Whatever though! They are doing me a favor. I don't want to receive healthcare from a place that tries to slam patients with strange letters after they are asking simple advocacy questions. I'll be telling everyone about my experience here too. NOT SURPRISED THEIR RATINGS EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET ARE IN THE TANK.
Also their medical rooms are terrible. You can HEAR EVERYTHING. One time I heard Dr. Hirsch giving a guy a rectal exam before my appointment. Gross. Talk about lack of confidentiality.

I wouldn't be scared away by some of the more immature reviews of this medical office. I have always been treated well for multiple health issues that have arose. It has never been difficult to schedule or reschedule an appointment. I appreciate that they are quick to respond to requests including sending over scripts quickly when needed. My PA Derek is always polite and professional.

I suspected I had shingles & being on immune suppressant meds; I called Highgate for an appt. This was on a Thursday. They said I could come in Fri. @1pm. As I was leaving my home, Fri. @ noon; I heard the phone ring. It was Highgate calling to remind me of my appt on Monday @ 1pm. I'm thinking wth? I tried to call back, but it was lunch time.
So I proceeded to leave and make my 1pm appt.heaven forbid I don't go and get charged $50+for a no-show. Mind you, my Friday appt. was NOT cancelled and I never made an appt for Monday as this was URGENT. I arrive in plenty of time only to find that the dr. who was to see me; never showed up. Another wth! So, I told them I need to see a dr. ASAP.
The nurse says she'll see what she can do. In the meantime, the receptionist calls me over to tell me my records need updating. Another wth! I said ok.what? She says 'You have to sign the electronic pad'.the first thing on the pad I can't remember but the other was HealtheLink; which I don't sign up for and told her I won't sign it.
I said HealtheLink datamines your info and she said flippantly 'it's all out there in cyberspace anyway'. I said, No thanks and she told me then we can't see you. I was like really? I've been going there for several years and am always ontime or early for appts. Always pay upfront too and this is how they treat me? I told her fine.you just lost a patient and btw. Dr. Lori Luzi. I really liked you. I ended up in Urgent care and have since found another physician. But be aware Highgate.you haven't heard the last from me!

I have had negative experiences with the professionals in this office a few times in the last few years. BUT, today I was seen by PA Jessica Castro as well as a beautiful and kind nurse. Let me tell you, they made me feel SO safe and heard. For years I have had consistent problems with medical professionals not only at HGM but other offices as well. Jessica was the ONLY one in so long, to actually listen to my concerns and create a game plan.
The two of them have completely switched my view of highgate. Jessica if you are reading this, don't stop doing what you're doing because it was great being able to tell someone about my problems who really cared. You're awesome!

I woke up this morning unable to hear from my left ear. I called the Highgate Medical group for advice and was given an appointment for later in the day. I went to the appointment actually expecting to wait but I was called into an office and taken care of immediately. Jessica, a Physicians Assistant, was pleasant and professional and she solved my problem. I am so glad I decided to use Highgate Medical as my primary health resource. I've been very satisfied. Thank you.

The practionioners are great but the office staff not so much. Ive just spent the last hour on the phone calling 6 times to try and talk to a nurse and they keep putting me on hold or transferring me to the wrong place over and over again. One time I did get through to the nurses line and was just on him for 20 minutes and finally just hung up. Guess I'll pay a bunch of extra money and go to Urgent Case. Gotta love health care in America.

I have to agree with most reviewers here and say these guys are terrible. My mother had ALS (you know, a neurodegenerative, fatal disease that left her paralyzed within one year of diagnosis) and this practice sent her all kinds of reminders for mammograms and blood tests etc in HANDWRITTEN envelopes over the years, which irked me to no end. My mother was terminally ill and they didn't take the time to LOOK at her chart before sending out meaningless appointment reminders, so excellent patient care there. THEN, after my mother passed away I found out she could get money back on a life insurance policy if a form was filled out notating her disability by her doctor.
When I called highgate they told me to bring the form in. When I brought the form in they said it would take DAYS for them to fill it out and that I could come back later. I told them I was not told that on the phone and that that was unacceptable. THEN they looked at my mother's chart and said they couldn't fill it out because "well, she hasn't been here in 4 years." SHE WAS QUADRIPLEGIC AND TERMINALLY ILL with an untreatable disease and the form was to say that she was disabled 4 years prior, when she WAS a patient.
Her PCP filled out her disability paperwork, not her neurologist, so that's why I went to them. I had to argue with them and ended up almost in tears in front of their entire waiting room (because hey, my mother just died so why would compassion of any kind be warranted, right?), but they did FINALLY sign the form. Bottom line? Go here if you want to be treated like a number, not a person.

I recently moved to Buffalo and was having a hard time finding a Primary Care Doctor. I got in to see the NP and I had some questions. She acted like I shouldn't be asking questions because I had been scheduled for my yearly physical. She barely gave me any feedback to the questions I asked and then didn't give me any resources. When I called asking about the appointment I was read off a long list of notes that was not shared with me.
How am I suppose to know about that info if it wasn't told to me and I can't get it on the patient portal? I was told they don't put that info on the patient portal. I also had to message them asking for my lab work. They did put it up on the patient portal. but only after I asked. They also sent a message saying all my bloodwork was fine, but the lab had marked that there was something not within normal range.
I had to call and ask about it. I guess this place could be ok if you like being your own doctor, want practitioners who don't really care about your health, and enjoy being treated like you lack health literacy.
