The Eye Care Group - Branford

I had an emergency and the staff made every effort to see me in a timely manner. The staff is very welcoming, and the nurses are very nice. I had to see multiple eye doctors who were not familiar with my issue and I am happy to say.not one of them rushed me out of the office. They all took their time to listen to me and help me resolve my issue. I am happy to be using The Eye Care Group.

I had to bring my 10 month old because we were concerned she may have a lazy eye. Dr. Cronin was so wonderful! We went this past Friday after the snow/ice storm and the women running the office were so friendly and pleasant. Dr. Cronin took her time with my daughter and explained everything to me. Great experience!

There is nothing negative l could or would ever say about this practice. I have been a patient there for 30+ years, starting with Dr Lavada with great success with my vision and muscle issues. My two children went there with similar issues and great success, as well as my husband with optic nerve damage from a fall. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and the Dr.s very very caring and thorough.

The front desk was responsive to my immediate need to talk the nurse, who in turn was attentive and facilitated an appointment. Dr. Cronin examined my eye and provided a clear diagnosis of the problem. She put me at ease and prescribed medicine and instructions for my own self care. A follow up was set with the understanding that I should call between appointments should I need help. Excellent!

I came to the eye care group for a second opinion, Dr. Cronin spent so much time with us. She listened and explained everything, and sent us home with a plan. Much more than our first opinion. Highly recommend, Amazing doctor for and with children.

Everyone was very welcoming and pleasant! I did not have a long wait! I see Dr Rose who I have seen for over 20 years and he is a great Doctor and really takes an interest in his patients

Dr. Tara Cronin, MD is an excellent eye docotor has been seeing my child for many years. Wonderful office experience and always caring of there patients.

Everybody that works here are great. Eye doctors really worked with me with my double vision. Never felt rushed. Before surgery, my surgeon called me the day before to see if I had any questions etc. I was floored! I never heard of a surgeon taking their time to do this before! She even called the night after my surgery. I let her know how awesome that made me feel. Don't think twice. Just go here. Children and adults alike.

Complete and compassionate full array of eye care services. They respect appointment times and act with highly respectful efficiency. I highly recommend this practice with offices in Branford, Orange and Waterbury. I have used all three.

I have been a patient at the Eye Care Group for many years. Everyone there from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave is friendly, welcoming and caring. Dr. Rose is a wonderful doctor. He loves what he does and it shows in the quality of his work. He is compassionate, attentive, informative and listens to what you have to say. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone.

I don't understand all the complaints here on yelp about long waits. Yes, going to the BEST eye doctors in CT (or the best in country) could take a long time, could be organized better, but when it comes down to it- it is the care that matters. I can honestly say that Dr Kostina saved my life. Without her I would never have gotten a diagnosis.

I was shuffled from one doctor to another until I was told to go to her. She discovered what was wrong and without her help I don't know what I would have done. I am so thankful that there are doctors who care, who go out of their way to help, and who take things on that other doctors have dismissed. I'll take the long waits. Thank you for saving my life and for listening to me instead of dismissing my symptoms.

Updating post visit - this group has really gotten their efficiency levels up as I was in, looked at, and out in just an hour! Nurses and doctors are kind and know their stuff.

Having a reception person hacking all over and handing you a pen etc is kinda funny seeing that you take temperature checks and ask questions about sickness at entry door. With only a shield, no mask! Time to do the same for staff. Won't be going back.

I haven't had the complaints described here. And the most important thing is, these doctors are really experts. The most thorough exams I've ever had, the clearest explanations. If that means they run late, so what -- even though that hasn't happened to me more than at other doctors' offices.

Been going there 5 years now always met with an attitude when I get fitted for overly expensive glasses. Woman acts as if I'm wasting HER time and money when really it's the other way around. I'm always a pissy, miserable experience. I'm outta' here hope you don't linger around as long as I did to figure it out. Switching to a much better rated optical group out of Hamden.

Horrible wait time - just to make an appointment! Be prepared to be placed on hold over and over again.

Worst Doctors office we have ever been too. Arrogant Dr's with poor bedside manners, seem to be all about the money they are getting as opposed to patient care. The only good thing to come from our experience there was the nurses and PA's and they have more contact with the patients then the 15 minutes you get with the Dr.

I love Dr. Thornquist he fixed my lazy eye and has been incredible. BUT the wait for getting into the appointment to see him each time is a minimum of an hour. Terrible job of time management and getting people in and out of the rooms. Had an appointment at 10:30am still haven't been seen by 12:40. Dr, Thornquist is amazing but the appointments are awful!

I have no complaints about the level of care my child has received at this practice, but I agree with the other reviewer about the ridiculous wait times. Not only did we wait for a half hour beyond our scheduled appointment time, but we then waited over an hour after they administered the drops to dilate her eyes. So that's an hour and a half of waiting around a doctor's office with a restless two year old!

All in all it took nearly 3 hours from the time we checked in to when we left. This is the second time we've had this happen and it is very frustrating. I get the sense that they must double book people.

After 30 years with my eye doctor I decided to try someone else. I chose the eye care group and was not disappointed. I walked in at 2:30 for my 2:45 appointment and saw a large bright clean waiting room and was greeted by the lovely lady at the desk who checked me in and took a copy of my insurance card. Promptly at 2:45 I was taken into a room by another pleasant employee to take a field test.

She then brought me to other rooms for more testing that was needed where I met several other pleasant employees. Dr. Wandel was very thorough and explained everything in a way I could understand, she did not rush and answered all my questions. Every single staff member was very kind and they all dressed in crisp clean grey scrubs that made them look very neat and professional. Honestly I have never had a better experience at any type of doctors office in my life.

What a great group. In addition to the great staff, they have at least a dozen doctors with every eye specialty you can possibly think of and they offices in 4 different towns. This review is for the Orange location. If you are looking for an eye doctor this is the group to go to, trust me, not only have I been wearing glasses/contacts for 30+ years but I work in a big hospital and I am a tough critic.

This place is like being Disney Land. I was so impressed that when I go back in 6 months I'm bringing doughnuts for these lovely professional neat clean kind staff. Btw, I Love that they all wear matching scrubs! Check out their website theeyecaregroup.com

NOTE: I work here, so I'm extremely biased :) This building used to be the former Recreation Showroom. In February 2017, The Eye Care Group opened an office here after closing its New Haven location. It's big, bright, and clean. The doctors, of course, are some of the best in the state. A multi-specialty practice (Retina, glaucoma, pediatrics, plastics, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology and comprehensive exams) Appointments only.
