Was extremely disappointed in my contact lens "fitting". It was nothing as described on the website and nothing like the contact fittings I had 20 years ago where the doctor actually spent time with you. This fitting consisted of the tech coming in and giving me lenses to put in my eyes. No discussion of what would work best for me. I put them in and was left for 45 minutes until Dr. Barrows came in.
She asked how they felt and I told her the left one was irritating me. She looked at my eyes for a minute or so and told me they looked fine and I should get used to them. That was it. Do not waste your time here if you want a proper contact lens fitting. It felt like they couldn't care less about what they were doing. So surprising because I have been a patient of Dr. Palay's and I love him and think he is very concerned about his patients and takes the time to answer any questions you may have.

This is a frustrating and unprofessional place. The wait time for the first time visit was 50 minutes; the second time is over 45 minutes. Appointments were made in both times and they stressed the importance of coming to the appointments in time but there's no respect in patient's time. I understand things run late and there r unexpected things but this is consistent in this place. And the visit is not for something complicated - more similar to an allergy shot in a Dermotologist office - and that's the wait time.

***Stay away they treat you like money and could care less if I was having an emergency or not!*** I called the clinic yesterday morning to tell them I was having flashes of light; shortly before calling the clinic. I actually had no problem being told there was an 11am appointment and I was relieved to know that I would be evaluated by an Ophthalmologist. HOWEVER right after telling me the appointment time, the receptionist asked me "are you having the flashes of light now?" THIS confused me as I did not understand WHY she would be asking me this and doing a medical evaluation over the phone.
I advised her they have stopped but I know this can be an emergency and so thats why I called to make sure it was noting. (This stated there is also the fact that emergent symptoms can be intermittent as well but I guess she doesnt care about that.) She then says well maam since you you are not having the flashing NOW this will most likely make your appointment an eye exam and so we cannot bill your insurance and we will charge you $230 out of pocket.
I asked her why that would be the case as the visit is for evaluation of flashing lights and this is a symptom that can be billed. She then raised her voice and stated no maam if you are not having the flashes then we will charge you cash pricing. I THEN had to advise her I am well versed on billing. I advised her that even if the patient has no symptoms of chest pain in office if they are having chest pains we bill THAT SYMPTOM!
That we dont discuss with pt on the phone what they do or do not have. Especially when its an emergency. After this exchange I advised her I did not feel comfortable being seen at this practice. I advised her this is wrong practice and you should not be discussing this with me while Im trying to follow up to rule out an emergency. But I guess she was more concerned with my payment then the health of my eye! Thank goodness I did not go there. I found Mt. Vernon Eye Care and they were warm caring and treated me like a person not a payment!

David Palay, MD did cataract surgery for me and I want to share my experience with others. He conducts his work in a very personal manner. Dr. Palay sees his patients at every visit. His staff is highly experienced and his practice has state of the art analysis tools to help find the best possible solution for his patient. The surgical suite he uses is an "eyes only" surgery suite and has the most highly trained people I could imagine.
Everything was very comfortable and very professional. The whole process is designed for the patient only. I definitely felt like the most important person in the room at all times. Dr. Palay is a rare find.

Poor experience today to AOA. The staff was rude and impatient! THey never mentioned that my Dr. at AOA stop taking eye med and charged me for refraction service I could have got free with another doctor or lens place. The lady checking me out was practically rolling her eyes when she explained the costs to me - so RUDE! Need to change opthomologists!

I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I am with this practice. It is the most professional Drs office I have ever been to. Every person I met explained to me what my surgery was going to entail. Dr Brown is going to perform the surgery, he is so patient, and you can ask as many questions as you like. I did go for 2 other opinions. The reason I choose to go with this practice is that of the standard of treatment I have been given.
From the front desk, to the lady who does some of the pre op work. To the nicest and most knowledgeable lady who does many of the tests for Cataract surgery. Also to the lady that arranges everything before your surgery and goes over all the financials and what your insurance will cover. I also believe that Dr Brown is world rebounded in his field of the most complicated eye operations. Nobody is happy about having surgery, but with a team as good as they all are. I really feel that I will be taken good care of.
