Stretta Therapy is an other minimally invasive treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), the condition that causes chronic heartburn and regurgitation. If you are taking prescription anti-reflux medications such as proton pump inhibitors [PPIs] (Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium, etc.) or H2-receptor antagonist drugs (Tagamet, Zantac, Pepcid), and you are not achieving good control of your symptoms, you may benefit from additional therapies that may be available to you, such as Stretta Therapy.
Barrett's esophagus is a condition in which the cells that make up your esophagus begin to look like the cells that make up your intestines. This often happens when cells are damaged by exposure to acid from the stomach. Barretts represents the most severe form of reflux (GERD). GERD occurs when the muscles at the bottom of the esophagus do not work properly.
Diarrhea, abdominal distention, cramps, flatulence and general discomfort may be caused by lactose intolerance in some patients. In the past patients were instructed to delete milk products from their diets and see if it had an effect. 2 Lactose is present in many unsuspected foods and drugs, making the most diligent patients attempts to comply impossible.
We offer breath testing, in conjuction with Commonwealth Laboratories, using the substance called lactulose, for detection of bacterial overgrowth that is being recognized more and more as a significant factor in the mechanisms underlying the Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). IBS patients suffer from abdominal bloating and pain, irregular bowels habits, and often alternating diarrhea and constipation.

A doctor who actually listens to what your concerns are without interrupting. I appreciate how he and his office have always gone the extra mile to help me. They always follow through where other doctors usually just wash their hands of you unless you harass them. Thanks to Dr Starpoli and his staff for everything over the years.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Starpoli and his two staff members Michelle and Emily. Dr. Starpoli is an excellent and very competent gastroenterologist who at the same time is kind, friendly and very relatable. He explained everything with great patience, transparency and clarity. All appointments were on time and efficient. Michelle and Emily are exceptional team members, they were unlike anyone in their role I had previously met at other medical offices.
Everyone at Greenwich Village Gastroenterology exceeded my expectations, and I can full heartedly give the highest recommendations for this medical practice. If you are looking for true excellence you've found it in Dr. Starpoli and his team. Thank you!

Dr. Starpoli and his team are absolutely amazing! I just had the ESG procedure done and my experience has been better than I expected. Dr. Starpoli was on time to all of our virtual appointments, he thoroughly explained the procedure and answered all my questions. His assistants are super friendly, diligent, and have been following up with me pre and post procedure (shout out to Michelle). Thank you to everyone involved for the care and attention, I'm so grateful and appreciative.

Dr. Starpoli has been treating me for over 10 years now and I am never disappointed. He spends a great deal of time and care with patients, is very thorough and compassionate. Dr. Starpoli also diagnosed and treated my husband for a long standing condition that no other Dr. had addressed. He genuinely cares about the total health of his patients. I feel safe in his care, and I don't think I have ever felt that way about any Dr. before!

Dr. Starpoli has got to be one of the most thorough doctors I have ever met. He was the only doctor that was able to help with my wife's chronic heartburn. He is super meticulous & doesn't leave anything to chance. He will check everything so be prepared for a battery of tests. We really appreciated his help. The only GI doctor we would ever see for anything.
