SECOND OPINION IS A MUST FOR ELDERLY PATIENTS! And be sure they have an advocate. This is a business and not the kind that cares. Hard sell procedures but so convincing you trust them. Things went wrong for my father's cataract and I was not even made aware because no one bothered to call and tell us how the surgery went which would be the norm in any surgery.
High ratings are easily attained when you combine your surgery practice along with routine eye exams. Please seek second opinion before opting for their surgery. Most insulting was Dr. Mittlemen appearance for the first time post op to LIE to us in Spanish no less that the surgery went perfectly. However, that same day they rushed us out the door to see a Retina specialist across town because apparently, perfect means.perfect open wound from the supposed laser precise modern marvel of laser incisions performed by Dr. Fair.
Four weeks in and my 88 year old father has had multiple surgeries. This after coming out of pocket $1800 instead of $5 for said state of the art, promises of laser being so much better. The front office is kind. Antonio Boletes is condescending and offers no middle ground as far as client service is concerned. The others sound like a bunch of car salesmen.

To say this operating is in the business of caring would be a stretch. Its business, and once you are done being moved around from one room to another you feel as if you are at a car dealership. They botched my father's cataract surgery, covered up the fact that Dr. Fair did not properly suture/ close an 88 year olds wounds but to make it worse Dr. Mittlemen showed up to confirm the job was done perfect in Spanish no less.
Never met him in all our visits there and the presumption that we did not speak English only made it worse. My father paid 1800 out of pocket instead of $5 because of their hard sell on laser instead of traditional procedure. Called, Emailed, sent letters and had to follow up repeatedly only to be told Too Bad, So Sad. Surgeon did not even have the decency to call the day of the surgery to inform us what went on during the procedure. GET A SECOND OPINION!

I have been seeing Dr. Mittleman as a patient for may years. I would see him on a need basis. My experience was Not good. After Covid I knew I needed to be seen to check my pressure for Glaucoma. I scheduled for the needed procedure.with one of the Dr.'s. The 3 times that I went for my visits. It took quite a while to be seen by the Dr.--- something that I never experienced before in his office or any other office.
I needed drops for my eyes.they should have given me a prescription prior to my procedure.the day of my procedure.the pharmacy that I was to get my prescription couldn't over night the prescription. I called call the office to see how I could get my prescription.the emergency text number that was given to me. No One Reasoned! There were other things that took place. I felt like a number and Not a patient. Very Disappointed! Pat R

I was very scared when I came to the office but Staff made me very comfortable I had forgot my wallet but your crew help me so much for a soft masseuse that with me and filled out the questions on the tablet I couldn't read it very well so she was very good and helping me made me feel a little bit more comfortable. A young man my name is acting and took me into a primary check up room where he did a work out by my eyes that was very comforting as well and then Dr.
Holiday came in to help with a few issues. He was very good Hansard questions for me and made me feel more assured about what I was doing. Zach then took me up stairs where I met with Dr. Eden. Dr. Eden was good and I like the fact that he just got to work immediately and help me diagnose what issues I had. It was great to find out what is this Asseri to correct my illness and he made me feel comfortable being there.
Great bedside manner. Then when I went to check out Matthew checked me out and now when did he check me up and he also help escort me across Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard to the bus stop kudos it was a bright sunny day and I could not see you at all and he pointed me in the right direction and also pointed out the gaps in the sidewalk that would make my chair rattle back-and-forth. Matthew God bless you you're a lifesaver today. I love everybody that Eric today to guys are great opportunity for you to help me correct my vision thank you very much

Finally after 22 calls and 3 visits Ray(Billing Mange)r returned my call at 4:53 yesterday 4/26/2022, I am appreciative he did take the time to call me back. During the conversation he informed me this was the first time he received a message to call me, this was a surprise as I have made 12 calls and 3 office visits indicating he would call me back.
He took time to explain concerns I had with billing and did not understand why the information was not communicated to me. I did inform him of my dissatisfaction of the office staff and the lack of customer/patient care from the Office Manger(that is what they call him) Charles. He recommended that I go online complete a review as his shifts ends at 5:00, he was already over his shift and had to leave.
I did not have an opportunity to ask but why would you call me knowing there were concerns 7 minutes prior to your day ending. The 2nd star is because he did call, I was extremely doubtful that I wold receive a call. My last review was written 4/19/2022

This past week I was visiting family and friends and stopped into Mittleman Eye to check out some stylish frames. Courtney was so patient in helping me find the frames I wanted up until the final minute before closing. She and Kim both were so pleasant. If you are looking for new glasses these 2 lovelies will certainly guide you appropriately.

Great place to get eyes checked & great optical selection. We love the Jupiter office. Richard in optical is super helpful but the whole office is professional & courteous. They are helpful with explaining what insurance covers. Highly recommend their warranty program on glasses. It has come in handy. My son just picked up his second pair of prescription Ray Bans. Richard helped him with progressive lenses. Very pleased. Yay Mittleman. Thank you!

Excellent staff, office is a delight you are seen as soon as you arrive. You are given an eye exam that is very through and within minutes you are seen by Dr. Middleman he is personable and did a complete exam. He answered all my questions, With out rushing me. I felt confident he was an excellently trained eye specialist. Made follow up appointment for Cataract Surgery before I left. I feel confident in recommending him to all my friends.

I never write reviews but have to to help others make an informed decision. This practice falsely uses the pretense of the LAW to coerce you into having your pupils dilated when you do not need or want that type of exam. I needed a simple vision test (non-medical). It is even an option on their appointment list. When you get there there is a bait and switch telling you it is Florida Law and they are required to dilate your pupils (not true per rule 6(2)a - patient co-care).
What they don't tell you is that is Florida law IF you are getting a 'comprehensive eye exam', not a simple non-medical vision test as co-care while under another specialists care. A very rude 'manager' told me he was not having "any of this" (my not wanting to be dilated) and to 'go get refracted somewhere else'.
Good advice actually, go somewhere, anywhere else. Never go to a Doctor's office who is dishonest and treats people this way. If the practice refuses to do routine vision test (non medical ), they should not accept appointments for them (see a photo of appointment options). That is what I booked an appointment for. I wasted my time driving to their office and sit in their waiting room only to be very rudely berated by the manager for not wanting to have a dilation exam for a vision test (non-medical).
I had just had a comprehensive eye exam last month - I did not want my pupils unnecessarily dilated. I only needed a new refraction exam (a vision test). I could do that anywhere but thought I would start a relationship with this practice. Glad they told me to get out and go somewhere else. The practice should also train its manager on Florida law so that he does not give out false and dishonest information.
It is not Florida law for you to be dilated for a simple non-medical vision test when also under the care of another eye specialist. Period end of story. They need to reframe their narrative so as not to fall foul of the law (see rule 6(2)a -patient exempt co-care). Re: K Mattis reply. No not true. If you are on co-care not necessary under 6(2)a - no sub-standard care - just logical care when you have just had a comprehensive exam. Re: in the mangers reply K Mathis wrote - "I'm not sure how many medical doctors would allow patients to dictate their own care". That arrogant attitude speaks volumes. A patient should ALWAYS be consulted and give authority for procedures and care. To do otherwise is outrageous.

I'm not sure why this practice has so many bad reviews because I've only had positive experiences here. Dr. Vasiliauskas has a great bedside manner and does not make you feel rushed. She even informed me that I can call on the weekends should an emergency ever arise. The office is also very nice and clean. My visit never takes longer than a little over an hour which I feel is fair considering the extent of an eye exam and other patients.

The experience and visit at Mittleman Eye super exceeded my expectations. Professional and courteous treatments were extended to me from the point of making an appointment to the point of exiting the office after receiving service. Staffs were knowledgeable of the services provided by the office, I was made aware of the time my procedure would take and to top it all, protocols were in place to safeguard patients against the Covid-19 virus. I would recommend Mittleman Eye to anyone seeking to find knowledgeable and professional treatment concerning their sight.

I am patient of Dr Mittleman's for many many years. Have been lucky to have him do my 2 laser surgeries. Without a doubt this is the only true place to place your eye care needs. He is wonderful and his offices are equipped with the most talented knowledge staff and colleagues of drs. You don't have to research any further. Join his family of team members for the best optimal care.

Doctor Mittleman. Just spoke with 'Ceclia' from your office and she has confirmed that I must be present for my brothers procedure. Given the fact that I have provided a valid legal guardianship combined with present times and worldwide use of virtual business meetings I am baffled at the refusal to accept my brother for his eye surgery without my actual presence.
In speaking with the folks at Darcy Hall they cannot understand why this is an issue as it never has been in the past. As I now understand from counsel.there is no legal obligation for Mittleman Eye to accept my brother or anyone else although your office inflexibility to work with me to make this happen is very disconcerting considering my willingness to provide any documentation and /or participation in a virtual meeting if requested.
We will ask Darcy Hall to pursue medical attention for my brother from an alternate more compassionate and flexible source. Previous Unanswered Email: We are having a legal interpretation issue with your staff regarding my Legal Guardianship for my brother Steven Xxxxxx who has an appointment to see you on 20 Jan 2022 for a pre-op evaluation for cataract surgery. Ashley from you office just called to advise that I must be present in order for my brother to be treated at the surgery center.
I have been his legal guardian for most of his life and I have never been required to be present after I have issued a written consent. It is impossible for me to be present for his procedure and I offered to overnight Fedex a certified letter attached to my Legal Guardianship approving the procedures. Ashley explained that your surgery center will not accept that approval without my presence? Can you please advise how we can satisfy your office legal requirements to have his surgery performed without my physical presence.

The practice is super busy but the service moves surprisingly quickly. The staff is very friendly. Ty at the front desk was very welcoming as it was my first visit. My visit was handled by Luther and Dr. Luzon and I felt like they gave me the proper attention and I never felt rushed when asking my questions. The best part of the place is that it is super clean.
Every single time I moved locations they would clean the chairs and equipment. Everyone is extremely friendly and it feels like a very positive environment. I highly recommend this practice.

I usually don't bother writing reviews but my experience at Mittleman was terrible. During the initial exam, I was told that they could only give me a prescription for contacts if I show them my current contacts prescription/box which of course I didn't have with me. Before my appointment, I was called twice by their office to confirm my appointment and to be pre-screened and was asked each time to confirm why I needed an appointment (and I confirmed twice that it was for a prescription for contacts), and no one said I needed to bring my contacts or last prescription with me to be seen.
Total waste of time and no one apologized which made it worst. They also charge $65 (non covered) for prescriptions which is something I've never seen before. I do not recommend and will certainly never go back there.

This was my message to mittleman: for your future business. i called multiple times. they said that they would send the paper work after a complicated appointment was scheduled because kiera couldn't figure out when it's you or the optometrist days on. she said she would e-mail me the paperwork only after i prompted her but i never could access the message because she assigned an erroneous password. i wanted to come in but you have such a poor administration that i was not going to trust my vision with such an unorganized rude office. after calling three times on the day of my appointment to try and access the paperwork, i got some rude guy on the third try, i was over it. i've scheduled with another local optometrists office that realizes that eye vision is no joke! he will refer me if needed to to a reputable ophthalmologist without the drama and unprofessionalism. you aren't the only game in town and your staff needs to know it before you and they are out of jobs!

Had a great experience at metal man, Mittleman sorry! That place is cranking but the staff are so attentive and on the case that you feel the warmth and the care they aim to project. I'm not a fan of the big corporate set up but even within that, and the unfortunate fact that I still had to wear mask was actually irrelevant. Ya know you gotta do etc but they did a great job. The staff is so well trained and I am impressed so it's a five star review, thanks!

I just recently visited Dr Mittleman and couldn't be happier. Yes, it was a very long visit but someone was constantly attending to my needs. I had cataract surgery 2 1/2 years ago and haven't been happy since. I was constantly agitated due to my poor sight issues; turns out most were inaccurate prescriptions and poor glasses. I saw 2-3 persons before Dr M but each had a purpose. Dr M assured me that I had excellent cataract surgery and that my eyes were in very good health.
What a relief! I was imaging all sorts of problems. Dr M listened to every detail that I offered. For the first time in several years I am seeing properly. I also want to mention that Rich in the Optical Dept is the very best! He was patient and extremely helpful. I couldn't be happier and don't mind driving from Hobe Sound to Jupiter.

I had a conversation yesterday before my appointment today with a very sweet employee. I asked if I needed to wear a mask. She said, yes, bring a mask. I came to my appointment today with a mask and was asked if it had a filter. I said, no, it is a two layer mask as required by PBC. She told me that is not acceptable and I would have to wear their 3 layer mask.
I put it on and after about 10 minutes, my skin began to itch and burn. I told her that the mask was burning, but she said you have to wear it or wear your mask beneath it. I tried to wear the five layers but could not breathe thru that many layers. As I told the doctor, I get it. I understand that they need a certain kind of mask. They just need to advise their patients BEFORE they come in what is expected. Instead I spent an hour and 45 minutes in discomfort. Now my face is covered in a an itchy rash before the first time we have gone out to dinner with friends for a month!

I had a scheduled appointment for 11:30am as a first time patient and got to the office at around 11:20am. Prior to the appointment, I signed a couple of documents that was sent via email. Many were straight forward patient intake forms but I declined to sign the form titled "Patient Financial Responsibly". I was given a computer tablet and was told that I had to sign the "Patient Financial Responsibly" form, and to let the front desk staff know if I had any questions or if I had any concerns since I refused to sign this document originally and also sharing some concerns with the form.
I stated to the front desk staff (slender woman with white rimmed glasses and dark hair) that I declined to sign the form due to my healthcare provider representative telling me that I should not sign these forms because of inconsistencies with billing and coding sometimes arising within multiple systems. There was also some verbiage that I did not agree with.
For example as it stated; "I understand that if for any reason my insurance company does not pay my bill within 90 days I will be fully responsible for payment". My concern with this was that if there was an error on the Dr.s staff's side, and wasn't resolved within 90 days, I would have to owe, and be responsible for, the full amount according to this form.
There were other vague statements in this form I couldn't agree with but overall I was met with immediate opposition, but I wanted to state my case and ask for help with what was in this form that I was signing. I kindly refused to sign the form again, and requested to speak with a financial account manager due to previous medical billing issues that I have had in the past.
I was told repeatedly that I needed to sign this form or I could not see the ophthalmologist that I was scheduled to see. I stated again that I would like to speak with the financial manager, but she stated that he wasn't available and that I couldn't speak to a manager. She also would not give me her name. I asked her a hypothetical question of, "what if your financial staff were to bill my insurance, but let's say that they add the wrong codes, or incorrectly billed me for something" she stated that this would be covered by them if they make an error in the system, but I kindly asked if they could show that to me in the document I was refusing to sign.
She stated that it wasn't in the document nor in any of the other policies they have. I told her that I could not agree with something like that out of "word of mouth" or spoken verbatim due to the fact that it wasn't in this form. When I asked her if she saw my problem with the form, she asked me to leave or she would call the police. I was surely shocked by this statement and was taken aback by a situation that was clearly escalating for no reason.
Just 5 or so minutes ago, she informed me to ask her any questions or concerns that I may have with the forms. Which I did. I tried asking her to stop raising her voice at me because she was getting somewhat upset and hostile towards me. I excused myself to call my healthcare insurance company, and was on the phone for maybe 10 minutes, and finally decided to sign the form when I couldn't get answers from my insurance company.
I felt coerced into signing this document, and after having a seat I was told I couldn't see the doctor I was scheduled to see, who specialized in ophthalmology patients who have recently had LASIK surgery. I needed special care, so I couldn't just see anybody. I can't understand why this situation escalated to the point where it did.
I felt attacked, and felt like my rights were violated. I felt like I was coerced into signing a document that I had no control in. I couldn't ask questions, and I couldn't clearly explain why it was I did not want to sign this form.

I was given an 11:30 a.m. appointment for a follow-up visit. I made certain to get to my appointment on time so the doctors wouldn't have to wait for me. After waiting an hour and forty-five minutes, I LEFT! I didn't stay because I was told there were three patients still ahead of me before they would even see me. Their TV monitor said the doctor's schedule is on time. WRONG! It's like they do not consider people have other plans.
I figure they overbook, figuring patients will wait once they get there. RUDE and INCONSIDERATE! Please note: Once you are called, the doctor's are great. So, if you book appointments with them, book the first appointment of the day, which I believe is 7:30 a.m. Hopefully, you won't have a wait.

Practice cannot keep appointment times to save themselves. 9:30 appt. They communicate poorly. 45 minutes after appointment time still not being seen. Scheduling was an abomination. This office needs help. And yes K.Mathias, we provided all Thai at your front desk to major employee attitude. No need to provide more info for you to allegedly Verify- this office's lack of caring empathy and professionalism is front and center. No way to hide it. Later. Never a patient again.
