Advocate Pain Management - Hector J Ortiz

Advocate has two pain doctors to help you through what will be one of the worst times in your life. If you come to them for a temporary form of pain, they will take care of you with the best medication and advice you can find. They consider your whole life situation so you won't be zonked out beyond taking care of children and you won't be left writhing in pain until everyone else is writhing with you.

If you come with the type of pain that's chronic and takes a lot longer to resolve, they will work with you until your pain is tolerable (because let's face it some pain can leave you incapable of leading a normal life) and you can still function even if it's at a reduced level. What I'm saying is they are one of the very few (and I mean VERY FEW) doctors who aren't so afraid of the feds that they won't treat you.

Get ready for some paperwork but they will treat you. The only reason they don't get five stars is that on occasion you'll have to fly into a panic wondering why your meds aren't at the pharmacy when you expect them. It's always an electronic communication problem and you will have to call the doctors who say it's the pharmacy, rinse and repeat. But overall they are one of the best in the Houston area. This office is terrible. I went there after being treated by pain mgmt doctors in other states where I lived (was new to the Houston area). When I had the misfortune of being sent here because of a referral from mt primary care physician, I wound up meeting with Dr. Sheth. He ignored what other doctors in my records had said, treated, and done for me and wanted to send me to their "psychologist", quoting that this is standard of all pain management clinics in Texas. Well, 1) that is simply not true and 2) they are possibly in some sort of agreement/arrangement with one another's practices.

I would avoid this clinic at all costs. I am not a drug seeking addict, btw. I have a permanent injury that needs ongoing treatment and it requires some medication In order for me to function. This office offers no solutions that are helpful, only judgement and truthfully, I don't know what it is that they actually offer the patient. He had no ideas or suggestions for me. He just really wanted me to see that psychologist. Anyway, AVOID.

Has always been a helpful office with nice staff and doctors. This past week was especially hard on everyone and they did all they could to accommodate for my missed appointment. (They also did a great job during the shutdown when covid first started) I appreciate all the time and effort spent from the front of the house to the back. Thank you all!

Dorsey& Seth - Horrible bedside manners, putting no trust on patients' concerns and admonishing them even for seeing physicians of other specialties, such as a psychiatrist and a rheumatologist. Waiting time can be up to 2 hours, they never apologize for the delay or the inconvenience it may have caused the patients. Clinic is disorganized: you are called for vitals, then told to go back to the waiting area and wait for an undisclosed amount of time.

The place itself is poorly kept with storage boxes piled against the walls of the exam rooms and offices. It is the last place someone looking for pain relief will ever want to go.

Let me start off with if there was a 0 star option I'd leave a -10. I had a Surgery at the beginning of the year. And the iv pain meds were not working. Morphine, fentanyl Dilaudid nothing. The hospital and my doctor told me to see a pain management specialist when I was released I was given hydro, Oxy, Demirel, and others. Taking 2 and 3 mixing and they did nothing for pain not even making me drowsy. Couldn't sleep becuse of the pain and I call this location for pain management on Jan the 2nd. Spoke with someone oh yes he treats that but we need your medical recs.

I saw the doctor the next day snd watched them send the records called back 2 days later no one answered left message, next day next day next day no one answered called the week after no answer no call back. Last week feb 13 they called back and never got the records. Got them the records the next day and I get a call back that they got them and need to ask about the pain. I told them what was going on and oh we don't treat that. 100% useless lady people before treatment

I am not certain how to reach them. My husband dropped off a packet of my records, a CD of my imaging, and my doctors have submitted referrals. This was all two weeks ago. I have emailed and called and left messages. When I call, there does not seem to be anyone manning the phone. I would like to be a patient there as the reviews are mostly great, and it sounds like what I need. I'm just not sure how to do it.

If I could I would give this place a zero. Took them weeks to read my medical records my doc from out of state sent. Then when i get to the back the doc has maybe 3 pages of my records in there with the paperwork I had to fill out for them. He would ask questions or state something when tried to answer he would cut me off. If he would of read all my records not picked only 3 pages out of them from different years and 2 where the same thing.

He would of seen what worked for me and what did not. After being in pain management for 7 years after my wreck, i am pretty sure my doctor knew what he was talking about as well as my neurologist and orthopedic surgeon. I will not be going back.

The positive reviews must be written by staff members. People come here in pain and put their trust in the integrity and care of Dr. Dorsett who has neither of these traits, which is proven by the fact that he allows rude and accountable staff to run his office. Countless requests for medical records have been ignored. HIPAA investigation is long overdue

I moved from GA. Have serious degenerative back problems. They requested records which I sent. Then sent records from GA Pain. Then they asked for my Practioner's records which I sent. They called me 2 days after the last set of documents from my practioner's and the girl told me they could not see me. I asked at least 15 times why and never got an answer, she hung up on me. These doctors in TX have a different agenda and I'm assuming a different hippocratic oath - not wanting to help people at all.

This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with any place that I have ever done buisness with! I would rather deal with the IRS than to deal with any of the staff at this place. Both Dr. Allen Dorsett and Dr. Michael Sheth did not care less about my physical or mental health at all and they made it very obvious Dr. Allen Dorsett was a most self centered, selfish and non empathetic excuse for a Dr that I have ever seen.

From the time I met him till the time I departed his office all he did was sit back, ask some common questions and rolled his eyes when I tried to answer them. He cut me off so much while I was talking that I couldn't get a complete sentence out! He diagnosed me without me even being able to explain my situation. I went there from severe withdrawals due to an opioid addiction that I obtained from a back injury and have never been able to escape the horrors of it ever since.

I went there seeking help because I do not want to die of an overdose, which I did overdose a few months back and thankfully for Narcan and God I'm still alive to talk about it! Trust me when I say he, "Does not care"! He is all about the money and it shows very vividly! I do not see how he is still a Dr. I would not send my dog there if his life depended on it. Dr. Michael Sheth is close to the same except he let me speak a little but he too does not care and is all about the money!

They terminated me because i told them that they only cared about the money and i didn't feel that they cared about me as a patient or my well being! They lied and said that they terminated me because i cursed a staff member so I called and asked whom had I cursed, which he was unable to answer Then he switched his story and said that he was unable to help me due to the severity of my condition.

They are both liars and scam artist! Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from these poor excuse for Dr's as possible! They are far from honest and genuine as you can get. I wish I would have never come in contact with them! To all fighting addiction I wish you well and God Bless you all!

I am so dissapointed and actually angry with this medical group. The office staff, basically could care less about how your insurance works and what documents are needed for specialty procedures. Dr Sheth has a horrible manner about him, pretty much changed up my meds, then brushed me off telling me to go see my GP for pain meds. I waited 3 hours 1st visit, then over and hour for the 2nd visit.

They had urine samples lined up against the wall on the floor in one of the exam rooms. I dont think he ever even made eye contact with me. This place is disturbing on a lot of levels. He only seems to want to do cortizone injections, if that doesnt help, go to your gp? really I thought this was pain management, a way to help you deal with chronic pain? SMH horrible horrible horrible.

I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. First, I had to wait six weeks to get an appointment. Then I had to wait over an hour to get in to see the doctor. He was more concerned about his computer running slow than talking to me about my pain. When I went to check out I was told everybody had to see a psychologist one time and get blood work.

I thought this is nuts. Finally my next appointment was in a month. I was ticked off about the whole experience. When I got home I went online found another doctor who would see me this Thursday. Then I cancelled the other appointment.

Read the reviews below, went through a very similar experience! Choose someone different, lots of interventional pain management facilities out there to choose from. This facility spent 2weeks reviewing my medical records for an appointment in order to take my $$ and tell me based on my records they couldn't help me, as I need someone to maintain my pain management.

Waste of time, waste of money, why did the spend 2 weeks to see if they can take me as a patient and then set an appointment with me if they couldn't help. They would of known there was nothing they could do from my records showing I already burnt off my nerves. To make matters even more frustrating, when I called the office in the first place they claimed to be a facility that could handle long term pain management, and they pretty much lied to get $$$. Again go back to you insurance/pcp tons out there to choose from. Seems I've been scammed just as much as the people below!

I have been a patient of doctors Sheth and Dorsett for approximately 5 years and I have had excellent care from both of them. I have extensive arthritis throughout my body and without their close attention to my pain management, I wouldn't be able to go about my day to day life. They are invaluable to me.

Referral process date was August 4, I didn't hear from them so I called August 10. The girl told me they received the referral August 6 (just never bothered to call). Then she told me that I wouldn't be seeing the doctor I requested because he was on vacation, also that I would be going to a different location. I asked when my appointment would be and was told they would let me know in three or four days (after the doctor did an evaluation).

Evaluation without seeing the patient?! The girl was crass during the whole conversation. As of September 9, I still haven't heard from them and I think that's a very good thing! I'm sure there's intelligent life out there somewhere.

I asked to be transferred to advocate PM because of proximity to my house and employment. I specifically asked if the doctor could and would follow my current treatment and essentially take over my care. Dr. Sheth did a review of my file and cleared me as a patient " agreed to take over my care". Upon arrival I went through the normal procedure "urine sample, weight, pain questionnaire" then I was introduced to the Dr. Sheth.

Immediately he informed me that he wouldn't take over medication management. I'm so compliant with my medication that its to the extreme, which he did acknowledge. I asked for my money back since he reviewed my record prior to coming in, He refused to refund the visit. I could tell by the way he acted that he had planned to defraud me and the insurance and had no intention to help me as a patient. Further more his attitude was that of a snake oil salesman, not a legitimate doctor. Beware there is big issues going on at this clinic.

Moreover Dr. Sheth according to the information I found on him is not very well liked by patients he has worked at a lot of pain management clinics all over the country " Alabama, Michigan and Texas" which further raises my suspicion about his character.
