I was in and out of Renown at Mill for weeks. First a heart attack, then a bleeding ulcer! Prior to these I had anemia. Hernia issues etc. I was in and out for several months! Now, in recovery, I can say the nurses and cardio's etc were all the best! I received excellent care and would never go back anywhere else. They are remodeling and if you can put up with the noise from that.you will be okay. They will move you to a different room. The nurses were super. Thank you all so much. Sally Shaw

Mom was admitted Thursday night and discharged Sunday. Her nurses and assistant nurses were okay, but I had to ask for everything. Every time I went to the front desk, I felt like I was intruding asking someone to find assistant nurse to help with commode. Well if you don't help with commode, you'll be cleaning a bed. Mom had to ask or a gown change after two nights.
Never a pitcher of water. You'd think there was a shortage. Asking for cups of water and again being looked at like I have 5 heads. What? water? The attending Doctor, I saw him twice and both times just said you are good all tests good. For your age you are good with a little thumbs up. Never examined my mother, never explained any tests to her only said You good.all good.
Meanwhile head nurse says stress test came back with myocardial infarction. What happened to all good? Any explanation of the 23 blood tests they ran? NO. They did not start an IV until Saturday after discovering drop in BP when standing. Urinalysis prob the first test you should run on elderly. Nope not until Saturday. Nobody concerned about vomiting or diarrhea.
I had to ask the Practioner for answers because nobody was providing them. In a nutshell my 84 year old mother left the same way she came in just 23 tests done with no explanations. Not the same Renown I used to know

Renown Regional has everything from its own public pharmacy to a Starbucks for visitors & staff. I've heard there is also an on-site hotel for those visiting patients & wishing to stay close by. As far a medical Renown has from surgery wing to a Cancer center. Maternity is a big deal at Renown as I've seen on its TV ads & a young gal who assured me, "They very good at delivering babies!" OK, I believe her. ER services are available through its own Mill Street access. Both a children's ER & regular are open to the public.

I recently took my wife to the emergency room for chest pain. When checking in at the emergency room, the receptionist at the front desk was unbelievably, ridiculously rude to my wife who was clearly in distress and suffering. There's also another guy named Bill who pointed fingers and tried to get rises out of patients in the waiting room so he could aggress them.
When my wife expressed to the receptionist that the receptionist was being rude and that she is in pain the security guard immediately came up behind her and commanded, "Don't talk to her like that!" This is absolutely absurd. I've never seen, witnessed or heard of any such Behavior towards patients in any medical setting let alone in the emergency room setting.
I was supporting my wife and I was afraid to make eye contact with anyone for fear that they would treat her in a manner which had nothing to do with taking care of her but rather penalizing and punishing her. The emergency room staff, nurses and Physicians were actually very good. Something needs to be done about the people that intake patients. I am a physician and have been practicing medicine for 25 years now. My wife is a retired physician.

"Our mission is to make a genuine difference in the HEALTH and WELL-BEING of the people and communities we serve." People and communities include "employees". I can say without hesitation, they do not care about their employees. I have seen incredible/talented/ caring people forced out, for minor infractions and a toxic work environment, where verbal assaults are allowed and excused.
This is not a healthy environment. The final straw was - Renown had a HIPPA violation. They listened to my "private" doctor visit, attempting to reprimand during a personal doctor visit, in which I was not working. If you work at, say Tesla, can they obtain your medical records without consent? It's illegal. I submitted a complaint to Compliance, wrote HHS, and gave notice that week.
During my exit, I voiced concerns to Director level and above, hoping to help my friends still working there. Perhaps, a higher level would show care or compassion. maybe they'd listen. My letter was shared and passed on to my team members. It was incredibly unprofessional. My team member then reached out about my exit letter, saying everyone read it.
I wished I had left sooner; I deserved better. The job hurt my mental health. It caused enormous stress. Way to make a genuine difference in my well-being Renown. Bravo. The leaders are careless, unprofessional, and negligent with employees. I can only hope my friends still working there can get out. or by some miracle, invoke change.

Renown sent me to collections without any notice despite the fact that I was paying every month. Last payment I paid $1000. Which was nearly half of what I had left on my account. Called their billing department only to be put on hold for 20 minutes before I could talk to anyone. I transferred all my records to a smaller Doctors office. This is what happens when your medical services become corporate. No patient care whatsoever!

I needed to schedule with my doctor and I have such difficulties trying to schedule online so I decided to call in to get scheduled. I had the pleasure of speaking with a sweet young lady by the name of Summer. Summer was very sweet, understanding, and very professional. Her southern accent and charm was so fun and happy. She was a breath of fresh air and a rare gem. Thank you Summer! I hope I get the pleasure of speaking with you again the next time I need to schedule.

They amputate and the case workers refuse to do their job. Rude. They then put patients in a wheelchair in the middle of winter. Light weight jacket and jeans. Leave them out front waiting for a cab to go to homeless shelter because the caseworker refused to help with insurance or get him into a rehabilitation center or assisted living facility. Don't go to this hospital!

Just venting. My 8 year old has been in pain everyday for a year. 5 Dr's later we got some stuff scheduled. The Dr office and surgeon require a 5 day quarantine ahead of time to be safe. CDC says if was in contact with someone to also quarantine for 5 days. She goes to public school. The hospital itself says it has to be 10 days. No one can agree and be consistent so the procedure is no longer happening on scheduled day. Makes things very hard and takes forever to get things done. Appointments, blood work. Ultra sounds. Endoscopy.
I'd be ok if it was even 30 days. As long as it was consistent across the board everywhere! The Dr office sends me paper saying 1 thing and the hospital send me totally different policy. It's super frustrating. Only emergency things will still happen. But my 8 year old having pain everyday for a year is not an emergency to anyone. That's all. End of rant.

This places used to be the BEST in the area. Unfortunately I cannot say that now. Starting with the cleanliness of the rooms from the ER as well as the pediatrics. The room was extremely dirty like no one clean ever this rooms. (Overflow trash cans, dirty bathroom and bed) 1. My son was admitted due to low oxygen, once we get a room upstairs they put him in a monitor that does not tell them that his oxygen is critical.
I had to push the nurse bottom to tell that he needed more oxygen -yes, like it is my work-! Until the nurse told me that a room was available for him. 2. His nurse gave us a menu to order lunch, and it was sit for over an hour by the nurses station because no one actually cares to bring food to my 3yo. 3. I asked if it was possible that someone could stay with my son until my husband and I were able to switch and doesn't had to bring over to the hospital our 4 mo. because our boy was in an isolated room.
The nurse just told me, that "because it was a weird time of the day, " she can't find someone to stay with our 3yo. And that he was "ok" to be alone. 4. My husband stayed with our kid, and during the night the kid that was at the other bed (about 3-4 yo) was crying alone. No parents were with him or nurse watching him. So he went and said that the boy has been crying for 20 minutes and is there no one with him.
Still 2 hours later and NO PARENTS OR NURSES are checked on him. This is a terrible hospital to get patient care, is sad because is the only pediatric unit available in town. Reno-Sparks NEEDS employees reconstructions. They doesn't care about the people.
