Okay so let me start off by saying that I have not had many experiences at this "hospital", however the times I did were horrific. Unfortunately it was labor & delivery unit thank goodness this was not my first pregnancy and reason for that is the nurses are absolutely miserable! They have NO personality and don't even know what happened on the shifts before them.

It was as though they lacked communication among the other nurses and any question I had they "did not know what happened on the shift before them" seriously pathetic! I would highly advise first time mothers please do not have your first experience of giving birth at this so called "hospital". I could go on and on but the main critical part of this review to remember is go anywhere but here!

I recently had to have bypass surgery and I will say this also was my first experience at this hospital. I will say the care that i was given was definitely Top Notch the staff could not have been more Nice and Professional in every aspect of my recovery process. If I could give more Stars I would. Thank you again

I had my Gall bladder removed in this hospital on the 6th of May 2022. Everyone, I mean everyone was very kind, professional, and caring. What more could you ask for? I am just about healed from surgery and almost back to 100% normal.

Last November I went in by ambulance from passing out at home four/five times and even though the process of the emergency room hasn't changed much I was admitted and diagnosed with Covid.with the Covid Ward you can't have any visitors, all you rely on is the nurses and everyone was so nice'a and pleasant. Other than the needles I made it through the toughest hours and I'm blessed by all the great care I had. Praise The Lord!

I've had to see doctors from Heritage Valley Beaver many times over the past few weeks, and my husband and I have both been treated wonderfully. I've been treated with care and concern by the nurses and other staff members, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have this hospital nearby.

I was sick for three months with what felt like the flu, it was some kind of infection. I finally went to Heritage Valley and I was there for 5 hours! During this time they never found out what was wrong, they lost my blood sample twice & while taking the blood two times it was the most painful blood draw I have ever had. After waiting all day for an answer I was told there was nothing wrong with me!

I had mentioned that I was going to New Orleans the next day & hoped to be well so I could walk around for tours & things. The nurse told me that even though they could find nothing wrong with me, I should go out and get drunk in New Orleans And that the alcohol should "blast that illness right out of your system." The bill was $1200.00 for no cure.

I went straight to another urgent care after I left there, they gave me antibiotics & I healed within two days. It was an infection after all, which I knew. I get that they can't just prescribe antibiotics if they don't officially know what is wrong. However, urging someone who is already sick to go out and drink when they have an infection is quite unprofessional to say the least.

In that case it could have proven deadly, especially for someone who was sick for an extended period of time. Making fun of someone when your own hospital can't find their illness is insane.

Thank You for the excellent care my wife has received in her recent stay. We were treated very well in ICU and at the step up. A great mixture of professional as well as personable staff everywhere. Will we go. Damn right we will!

I was seen here in January of 2021 and despite all the bad reviews, I was treated with dignity and utmost respect by all staff. The Nurse that treated me was named David and I cannot say more nice things about that man. He did all he possibly could for me and inspired me to start looking at careers in the medical field. Lastly, if you are being treated by David, your going to be treated with the utmost care just as I was!

Staff is extremely unkind and the hospital is unsanitary. i know many people who have gotten infections after having a surgery there, and during the beginning of covid they had 8 people on one ventilator, with one nurse for every few ventilators! heritage valley is the worst hospital i've ever been too, especially when it comes to the care of patients.

One of my close friends broke his back and went to the hospital, and they told him he had nothing wrong but gave him a pain pill and told him to go home. it later turned into pulmonary embolism (blood clots in your lungs) and blood clots throughout his body. awful hospital. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION!

Luck of the draw I guess. I have received decent (3.5 - 4.0 star) care on two different occasions. However II accompanied my Mom for 2 ER visits and my sister for an ER / 2 day Admission, and with both of them the discharge planning and instructions were woefully lacking.

Sitting in waiting room for 3 hours after arriving by ambulance with chest pain. completely uncalled for. Still sitting and waiting. This is not my first experience like this. This hospital is absolutely horrible. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

Unbelievable poor service at this hospital. My grandmother was exposed to covid and covid positive for 15 days and still would not allow us to visit. I was told from a hospitalist that there is a PA state law that does not allow the visitors for covid positive patients. I work as a nurse for another Pennsylvania hospital. We allow visitors for all covid positive patients for one hour.

The care we received was poor for my grandmother. We never knew when she was transferred and we never were allowed to get an update. Every time we called we were hung up on by the nursing staff. If you want your family member to suffer and receive bottom of the barrel treatment. Allow them to be admitted to this hospital

I came in this morning I was in severe pain and throwing up, I told them I had kidney stones previously and it felt the exact same, did a ultrasound had me pee in a cup but sent me home and said I had no kidney stones, couple hours later extreme pain comes back we go to a different hospital they properly address me, take my vitals twice, give me a cat scan and find a stone. Would have been nice to just get the care I needed from the hospital closes to home but I had to drive 45 minutes to get the care I needed

First off I know what nurses and doctors are going through with covid but when you have other patients there with other life threatening illness and they are not being taking care of is where I have a problem! I have a family member there now and the care he is getting sucks. The nurses dont want to help you. When I got there today my family member didn't get his lunch so I called to put in his lunch order.

Well it came but I didn't get anything I ordered. So his nurse said no problem I will get him what he wants. I had to leave and he never got his lunch and his nurse just didn't care even though he promised me he would get his lunch. I know this sounds petty but my family member is not doing good. But as I was walking out I couldn't believe how many of your employees where in the cafe enjoying there lunch while my family member just wanted his lunch. The care there is horrible!

I went there at 2:00 AM on 9/19/2021 for my Aunt. The Lady Receptionist was helping people in the door and put a fresh bandage on some guy. A nurse named Steve and the Doctor were great! I would give Shawn five stars alone for being so efficient while changing her fluids and explaining things like the doctor did. I highly recommend. If I ever get hurt, take my body there! : ) God bless (Hugs)

My mother's wedding ring "disappeared" during her stay. She was brought in in an ambulance, wearing her ring, and needed surgery. After a 4 day stay, SOME of her jewelery was returned, her wedding ring and an aquamarine ring were not. No one I spoke to seems to be concerned with the apparent issue, it seems there is a THIEF STEALING FROM ELDERLY INCAPACITATED PATIENTS AT HERITAGE VALLEY HOSPITAL.

Since no one will attempt to help in finding it or offering any type of solution, I needed the public to know they are not only MEDICALLY INCOMPETENT but THIEVES. This will NOT disappear the way my mom's ring did! I will NOT shut up or go away! A woman named Chris Majors will not even call me back. Utterly disgraceful.

Took my wife to emergency room for kidney stones. They didn't even tell her she also had gall stones. There was dried blood (not hers) in the room and the table. Bathroom looked like a murder took place there. Only went cause it's 15 minutes from my house. Praying to never go there for anything again.

It was nice clean environment except the restroom but I can understand that a little. However. The wait wasn't long they treated us with kindness and respect. They treated us and let us go. This is a nice facility to go too for emergencies. If u like me I like to read reviews before I go to a new place. From my experience it's a go too.

My 1st emergency visit for atrial fibrillation and occluded arteries. I was treated immediately. Staff explained everything they were about to do. Doctors did too, answered all my questions and explained my prognosis. Reasonable response to call button. My only issue was their "system". So much hygiene protection for staff (3 size gloves, hand sanitizers, wet wipes everywhere) but patient hygiene nonexistant.

Only if you ask to wash up they leave you a bag of soapy washcloths. I could have taken a shower but told they'd have to order a shower stool (they used shower stall to hold used laundry until pickup). I couldnt get a bar of soap or shampoo. I was there 49 hours before I got my 1st meal though I had no diet restrictions then. When NPO until after procedure, nobody told dietary.

I had learned to call dietary myself. I said at least give me vitamins and minerals so my resistance doesn't run down (why so many leave hospitals with colds, flu, pneumonia). Never got any. When I asked aides about something I was always told "I don't know". After hearing that enough I said "I keep hearing this, That's not an answer" and they just walked off.

Obviously no one bothered to follow up. I worked in many hospitals over 50 years, most at UPMCs. Though UPMC has "the latest medical equipment" I overheard administration tell the chief "you can't have staff, that's a recurring liability". We had quotas ever increasing but overtime was forbidden. I've seen lots of mistakes and medical negligence in those huge hospitals and they take no responsibility for it.

I hope the smaller hospital groups don't make the same mistakes. So medically speaking I felt well cared for at Beaver Valley. I feel confident if I needed a hospital. I'd come back. If they could fix up their system of doing things I would rate them excellent.

Sometimes when you're sick (or lazy) you just want to go close to home, otherwise make the trip and go to Sewickley! This is for the ER. I went for medical reasons, but you don't even get to see the a Dr until they're discharging you. I had 5 people in my room at one time, and I had to repeat why I was there to every single one of them, even though they were all in the room and heard me.

Maybe it's procedure, but it's annoying. I did get taken back quickly and bloodwork/xrays done quickly, but I had to wait a while for results. After 4-5 hours, got sent home with no solutions or diagnosis. This experience was weeks ago and I'm still not feeling better. I know they have to go by results of tests and what not, but I feel like they don't even listen to what you're telling them, they're more worried about looking at the common symptoms and just ruling things out rather than actually helping to see what's actually going on.

Not helpful at all over the phone. Spoke to Sandi. I am looking for help for a friend and called to inquire about the facility, procedure, treatment process, anything to help me understand what a patient might experience there. The sleeping quarters, group size, personal belongings, therapist interaction, visitation. It was like pulling teeth! I got very short abrupt answers, no understanding or compassion was evident to how hard it is to consider having a dear friend enter a psychiatric ward, and wanting to get an understanding as to what the treatment was like.

I have read the other reviews for Heritage Valley Beaver and am not sure where some of these people were. I just came home from my first admission to Heritage Valley Beaver and I must say I was very pleased. This is not my first hospital admission, i've been an inpatient at Allegheny General, UPMC Passavant, UPMC Passavant Cranberry, and Geisinger Medical Center.

I know every hospital has bad reviews, but I am surprised by the lack of positive experience and reviews saying this. So count this as a positive review, I would have no hesitation if I needed admitted to a hospital going to Heritage Valley Beaver. Good doctors, nurses, and allied health staff. I've been around hospitals for most of my life because of an ill mother and now me, Heritage Valley Beaver is a good hospital.

From what I could tell, the hospital's fill rate was low when I showed up at the ER. They were all too eager to admit me and milk the heck out of my Medicare. Throughout the visit there I was treated like a useless old hag. This was beyond insulting. I told them, repeatedly, that I'd had a major blow to my head over a week previously that had not resolved.

They never examined the gashes in my scalp nor the other bruises I mentioned. Apparently touching a person on public assistance scares them! I told them repeatedly about my current, ongoing minor medical condition, and asked them to repeat it back to me and tried to ensure they knew what it was. They consistently "forgot" my self-reporting of this condition, or misheard me as saying "diabetes." I am not diabetic! Furthermore, I did not complain of vomiting nor had I had nausea, not prior to my ER visit, nor during.

Yet they gave me Reglan IV without informed consent! This drug is so dangerous, full of FDA warnings, that it should never be given arbitrarily like that! The nurse outright lied to me saying the IV Benadryl was for headache, then gave me the Reglan IV, mumbling something about "for your stomach." She also claimed the "doctor ordered it." I have every reason to believe this dangerous drug was given to me in error!

While I got no exam I also got no formal interview, nothing except asking my address and date of birth. You'd think that prior to their decision to admit, they'd do both of these? No, their priority was to use me as a cash cow, as at the time they had many empty beds. I refused admission due to their gross incompetency, shocking rudeness and disrespect, and the fact that they consulted me, the patient, about my medical status, but instead, relied on obscure ophthalmology records from almost a year ago (which apparently trumped anything I had to say).

They did check me for stroke. Negative. They also claimed the head injury was "nothing" based on their CAT scan ONLY. As I said, I never received an exam. It was beyond hopeless trying to explain to these utter fools that maybe they should have asked the patient. I knew deep inside that had I agreed to admission they would have continued to give poor care resulting in medical harm.

I couldn't risk it On my way out the nurse, who apparently had not heard I had already signed myself out, was rushing to get me admitted. That fast? Then she tried to give me an exam! Now? Why? I refused, knowing their plan was to later fudge my records and claim the exam she was now trying to give me was my initial ER exam. I am wondering how they'll alter my records to cover up what was obviously patient harm.

I was more than happy to sign AMA papers and quickly get myself out of there. I believe I saved my own life by doing so. I am still dealing with ongoing pain from the head injury and unknown pelvic injury, but thankfully they are both slowly resolving.

This hospital in general isn't the best. considering 45 minutes away there are a ton of good hospitals in the city. I came here to visit a friend in the behavioral health unit. The visiting times on a Saturday were 2-3. All guests had to wait until security came up. Finally he showed up at 2:15. After everyone went through metal detector, its was close to 2:20 yet we still had to leave at 3.

The behavioral unit does a terrible job at keeping patients busy. There is only 1 hour that the arts and crafts area is opened. The rest of the time, sad, depressed, anxious patients just have to walk up and down the halls like zombies hoping that one day they can find happiness again. Lunch is 1130 and dinner isn't until after 5. no snacks or anything offered in between except water. it looked like a prison in there but it was supposed to be a place where depressed patients go to get better. don't get me started on the long wait times at the ER.

I got a call from my Mom on July 11th that my Gram was in critical care, so I flew in from San Diego to visit. We spent many, many hours there, in the purgatory that is Critical Care Waiting Facility, but the doctors and nurses were always patient and nice. (Excluding one nurse that snapped at my mom because the "visiting hours" weren't going to start for another 30 minutes, which isn't really acceptable when your immediate family is dying, but beyond that everyone was sweet.) I don't want to think about this place any more, and I want to say that there was a Happily Ever After, but on July 17th we made the decision that no one should ever have to make.

So uh, it was the most exhausting and terrible process of my entire life thus far, but the staff was nice, the food was decent, and the comfort level was good. So they get an overall thumbs up.

My Grandma had to come here and I could only say good things about the Cardiac unit. Call lights were answered in a timely manner, rooms were clean and not smelly. The staff was friendly prompt and very accommodating. My Grandma has 6 kids and yes they were visiting her all the time thorough out the day sometimes at the same time and I too (the granddaughter) was in attendance and the staff was very helpful to bring extra chairs and did not ask us too leave even though Im sure we exceeded the limit.

The doctors too were very helpful and understanding of the children and care of their mother. I would endorse this hospital to those in need. (not that anyone wants to go to the hospital)
