Non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy is the most common type of diabetic retinopathy and is one of the leading causes of blindness in the U.S. The condition develops when diabetes damages the tiny blood vessels in the retina causing the vessels to leak fluid or blood into the back of the eye. With the progression of diabetic retinopathy, new blood vessels may grow and threaten your vision. New blood vessels are weak and may break open causing blood or fluid to leak in front of your retina and adversely affect your vision.
Uveitis is a broad term used to describe many problems with your eyes. What they all have in common is inflammation and swelling that can destroy eye tissues. That destruction can lead to poor vision or blindness. There are three important structures to the uvea, the iris, the ciliary body, and the choroid.

Amazingly attentive staff, VERY personable docs, easy to get an appointment too. I have been terrified of losing my sight since December, but the treatments have been helping so much and though there's no guarantees I'm heartened to know that I can rely on everyone here. Thank you Chicagoland Retinal!

The staff and doctors were so kind and understanding. I was apprehensive because I've never had these types of eye exams. They kept me comfortable and explained everything they were doing and how it would make me feel. That took away my anxiety, each of them went out of their way to be very kind to me. Dr Pearlman was professional and diligent with what he saw and he also made me feel very comfortable. I would recommend Chicagoland Retinal consultant to everyone! Thank you for making a scary incident into a situation I'm no longer worried about.
