It's always the staff in a business that make or break its level of success. I visited ASC earlier this week for a routine colonoscopy. Because of the fasting on top of the "preparation" which causes extreme "D" and a 1pm appointment, when I checked in, I had a blinding headache. There was about a 20 minute delay and I was set up and ready to go but was directly under a searing fluorescent overhead light which felt like it was drilling a hole in my head.
I finally just used the pillow and covered my head. The bay was entirely enclosed by pull-curtains but a nurse noticed the pillow, came in, turned up the hydration IV drip I had going, dimmed the overhead light, and was absolutely lovely. I felt like a human and not just patient #29 of the 35 they would see that day. Karina's kindness inspired this review and she made my day a little brighter. Thanks Karina. Tim

Never received a confirmation call text or email about my Monday morning appointment. My appointment time was moved forward by an hour. To top it all off I had to get picked up on W. Alameda St. with traffic flying by Instead of in the parking area where it's safe. My family member had to park in a red zone. Very unprofessional and very dangerous.

The surgery center is great. But DO NOT let them assign Dr. Levin as your anesthesiologist. I don't know about Dr. Levin himself, he's probably a good man. But his billing office is atrocious. They won't provide info to the insurance company, only handle billing questions 2 days a week, only accept one credit card (for a $35 fee which is illegal to charge), ignore contracts between them and both insurance companies and patients.
Even the office manager at the Alameda Surgery Center wants to hang them. I would avoid this guy at all costs because you will be dealing with billing problems for some time to come (ours is going on a full year). I would give the surgery center 5 stars if they removed him from their staff.

Super, super friendly place with warm blankets. Kim at the desk is the best receptionist I have ever encountered. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted in a friendly manner. The person who was most helpful to me was Scott. He was with me constantly and even in the surgery room. Of course, I was very nervous, but all the staff there were very comforting and helpful, especially Scott. I was there once earlier and it was the same. I am sure I will have to go back and I look forward to the awesome staff!
