Step by Step Pediatrics was formed in 2004. While working at a large pediatric practice, we decided we wanted to provide more personal care in a smaller setting. Over the last few years, medicine has continued to evolve into fewer choices for patients. Practices are becoming larger, combining clinics, and in some cases selling to large corporate hospitals.
Insurance for health care is evolving and is a challenge for both patients and medical practices. It is our intention to continue accepting all the insurance products we have in the past, while adding new plans as they become available. While looking at your plan, if you find that our providers aren't listed, please call our office so that we can research your plan.
Sleeping and Eating- Newborns sleep a lot! Until the baby is back up to their birthweight, wake every 2-3 hours in the daytime to eat and allow one 4 hour stretch of sleep in the night. If your baby has lost a lot of weight in the first couple of days after birth, your pediatrician may recommend even more frequent feeding.

Receptionist area staff are great. Always friendly. The doctors and other care staff will not treat your child like a human being. They are just a dot on a graph or statistic on the computer. Impersonal with poor bedside manners. As a dad who is the primary caretaker in the family, I don't get treated as if I spend any time with my daughter at all. Asking what mom has been doing and if mom does certain things to help development never acknowledging that I play a larger role in the process as mom works full time.
If you want a pediatrician that will care about your child as an individual, step by step is not for you. Update: they charged us a no show fee after we cancelled with them. Poorly run greedy business.

We have been going to Step by Step since my son was born - he's now 7.5 years old. We USED to love it, but it's quickly going down hill. The front office staff is terrible - they never know anything, and to top it off, I was spoken to HORRIBLY today by someone named Mary - come to find out, she's apparently the office manager! She was SO rude and condescending I was fuming when I got off the phone.
They are ONLY about the money right now, which I understand, to a degree. We have a balance, though not entirely sure what it's for, so she called today to ask for $100 or she would have to cancel my daughters appointment. I'm sorry, but if $100 is going to make or break this practice, then there's other issues going on. I asked her and the billing department to send me an invoice or a statement and they both said they couldn't right now. Billing told me they would send a receipt after I made the payment.
I asked what the balance was for and was told "Oh a few visits last year that insurance just came back with." Can I have a few more specifics please.? I won't even get in to the fact that I'm only willing to see 2 doctors there, as one doctor we loved left, and another made a horrible judgement call and my 1 year old ended up in the hospital for 3 days. I am now quickly searching for a different practice to send my kids to.

We have been going to Step by Step for over 4 years now with two of our kiddos and have had many great experiences. One time, one of the staff members started personally driving to our home to let us know we needed to take our son to the emergency room since she couldn't reach my husband or me by our cell phones. I've witnessed consistent professionalism, dedication, love, and support from Step by Step, and I plan to use them with our third child who is on the way!

I recently switched me son over to this office and I love it. They have separate entrances for children who are sick and the waiting is very roomy and clean. We had our daughter with us and they let us bring her back for my son's appointment and gave her a handful of cute goodies. All the staff was super friendly! Love it here.

Our first pediatric appointment in Arizona went very well! We just moved here from Atlanta and finding new doctors and dentists is always such a pain. We decided to go outside of Casa Grande where we live based on reviews in the surrounding areas. We waited only 5-10 minutes in lobby, 5 minutes in the exam room. Dr. Bishop was kind and efficient. She listened to my questions and answered everything. Nurses and admin. staff were awesome. Highly recommend!

I just moved to the area and after extensive search for a doctor I decided with Step by Step Pediatrics. I couldn't have made a better choice because EVERYONE at the office has been friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The appointment set up was fast and easy (just be prepared with your info), the medical assistant was Super Nice, my kids loved her and Dr Julie Peterson is the best!
Not only did she educate us by giving us valuable information but took her time, answered all my questions and concerns. I have a 4&7 yr old. Never felt rushed during the appointment. I will MOST DEFINITELY recommend Step by Step Pediatrics.

I've been with Dr. Bishop and Step By Step Pediatrics ever since my daughter was born (almost 9 years ago) and I have never had a negative experience. We usually see Theresa or Dr. Bishop (though we've seen everyone at one time or another) and they are always very comforting to my little girl, so much so that my daughter has never been afraid of an appointment, even to have shots!
The front desk has always been helpful and when information has been requested, they have been right on top of it. I've also had to call after hours a few times and I always get a call back within the hour. When my daughter is sick, they ALWAYS see her the same day. Almost 9 years and never a complaint? That says something about the staff and the level of service they provide. I highly recommend Step By Step!
