The retina is the part of the eye that essentially allows us to see - it receives the visual information from the outside world and translates it into images that our brains can process. Like any part of the eye, the retina is prone to any number of issues. Fortunately, the eye doctors of Thomas Eye Group are exceedingly proficient at both diagnosing and treating all of them.
From flashes & floaters to retinal detachment, Thomas Eye Group can treat any and all retinal conditions. The cornea is the window on the front of the eye which allows light to pass through and focuses it for clear vision.

I suffered an eye infection in 2010 that left me with a scar on my cornea and distorted vision. As a pilot and a weekend athlete, the loss of vision was devastating. And as an executive in the eye care industry, I am a very picky customer when it comes to comfort and fit of something on my eye. The only way to restore vision, I was told, was with a scleral lens that would vault over the scar in my eye, and correct the vision. At first, my eye doctor tried to fit me with an off-the-shelf scleral lens.

My appointment was at 3:10 I came at 2:45 because I respect other people time and I like to be early. It is 5:05 right now and the doctor haven't seen me yet. Are they over booking like airlines, did they had an emergency? If so they should have communicated with the patient. The only reason I'm still here is because I'm in a lot of pain and can't wait another day to see a doctor. My doctors name is Zac something.

Model of Inefficiency! I am new to the area, and trying to find medical care including my vision. I came across Thomas Eye Group, and thought part of my hunt was over. I was wrong, every interaction with this company has been mistake after mistake. My first visit had a billing mistake of five dollar, plus the wrong sample contacts was given triggering a return trip. Getting to my current issue, the contacts seem fine, so I am trying to order a 90-day supply.
I call TEG to get a price on my contacts. I got transferred three times, neither time I was transferred to the "Contact" Department. On my finally transfer, the associate told me he would email the Contact person, and she would call me back. I am not holding my breath for the call back. My experience with Thomas Eye Group, with all the little mistakes, has me worried I might need to get my eyes checked again, at a different eye doctor to ensure nothing was missing from my first eye exam.

Very nice staff, but BE PREPARED TO WAIT! This is our 2nd time here and each time it turns into an 2 hour or more appointment with the majority of it waiting. My appointment was at 3pm, we checked in at 2:40pm, saw the 1st nurse around 3pm then waited over an hour to see the next guy then waited another 30 min to see the doctor it was about 5 before we left the building. It was ridiculous. But the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

I had an appointment at 2:15pm on June 7. I followed Google maps directions which took me to the old location at 5901 peachtree dunwoody road. I arrived 15 minutes early, and I paid $2 for parking only to find out they moved locations. It was about an 8 minute drive from here to their new location which has free parking. I now was 15 minutes late and was glad they still allowed me to be seen. It took about 15 minutes for them to call me back, and the yearly eye exam for contacts took about an hour. I enjoyed my experience with the technician and optometrist.

This place is a joke. 3 hours of waiting and didn't even see a doctor, I left because I couldn't take the waiting anymore. Totally disorganized and disrespectful of people's time. I got to the office a little over 15 minutes late. Which is their max grace period. Fair enough. But I called to tell them I would be late because I was pulled over on the highway.
The woman I spoke to on the phone said that would be fine. When I arrived they kept me waiting 20 minutes to tell me they would be moving my appointment by an hour and a half and I would have to see another doctor and wait. They only saw me an hour after the new scheduled time. So I waited over 2 hours to see a pre screening person. They then ushered me from room to room for each part of the exam eye photos, and contact lenses.
Each part had its own wait. The contact lens exam was an extra $75 and only involved looking at the fit of my current lenses which took all of 5 minutes. So I am not sure exactly how they are justifying that extra charge. I then waited a further 30 minutes to see the actual doctor and left because I had no desire to wait anymore.

I would give a zero if that was an option! From the ophthalmologist himself to the front staff to the office staff, everyone is clueless and arrogant. The only one thing that is good consistently in this place is Sameer (the gentleman who is a PA I think) at this location. We have been seen here three times so far. Average wait is about one hour and fifteen minutes.
They called one day before the appointment and cancelled the visit telling us their physician was unable to come to work! The physician does not have a good bedside manner or patient rapport. I am not certain if he is that good with diagnosis and treatment either! We were seen here four times (original visit and three follow ups) with no certain diagnosis for a simple eye redness/irritation.
We were given three different eye drops which offered marginal help and slight improvement of the redness. Being a Kaiser patient, we were referred to this office (we do not have much of a choice here!) otherwise I would never come back. The reviews were consistently terrible and all of a sudden over past two weeks they have improved! I wonder who has been paid to write many fake ones for them to change the overall rating from 1.8 to 4.3! Check the dates of reviews! Stay away if you can.

I had a wonderful experience at the Thomas Eye group at Sandy Springs. From start to finish everyone was very professional and treated me like family. A HighFive to all from check in to check out and getting my glasses. I even had a few laughs. Thank you all who help me Monday April 25 at 9am. Lezlie Woods

My doctor was Stuart J. Newman. My appointment was at 2:30pm. I didn't see the doctor until after 4pm. The time spent with the doctor was no more than 8 minutes. The doctor showed me a diagram of the difference between how healthy glands looked for moistening the eyes and that mine were not healthy. Images were taken before I saw the doctor to diagnose this.
When I asked to see the images, the doctor looked obviously uncomfortable and proceeded to tell me that the images they took were not clear. This was a shocking statement to me. If the images were not clear, then why didn't they retake the images? Also, if the images were not necessary for diagnosis, why did we take the images at all? He then stumbled over his words as he had nothing but one tiny area under a SINGLE eyelid that he said showed a little inflammation but nothing close to what he said they looked like.
The whole thing was an obvious sales pitch where almost every item was provided by a third party where they discouraged to buy from anywhere else. The assistants were obviously trained to say that every other fish oil was bad for your body and to only purchase fish oils from the provider they gave. Of course the medicated eye drops are provided by a third party that they partner with and give no other options for eye drops that are covered under insurance.
I was given a spray to purchase that I was told was going to help the glands produce tears and kill bacteria. When I got home to open the box there were no such claims at all on the box. The box says "the spray cleanses the eyelids and eyelashes and helps to improve the appearance of the eyes and eyelids". This is a cosmetic spray and has nothing to do with my red eyes.
On my way back home from my appointment, I received a call from my primary care doctor who gave me the results of my head CT scan. I have a severe sinus infection which is the obvious cause of my red eyes. The doctor couldn't show me anything wrong with my eyes or eyelids because there's nothing wrong. I was absolutely scammed. This place is a mill that took advantage of me. Edit: Though the owner responded to my review, they haven't reached out to me in anyway. This only further reflects the poor service that I received.

Doctors and professional nursing staff are awesome and I can't recommend them enough. However, getting through all their administrative people, getting someone on the phone, making an appointment and just simply dealing with the office people are just very not nice. The front desk staff are rude and dismissive, they don't have consideration for your time and just aren't very nice.
As a practice, the hurdles they put in front of you to actually speak with someone if you have a question.forget about it. Wait times are consistently long and the whole experience is bad. I have had two lens replacements here and the doctors and nurses are wonderful but the entire front office staff needs help. Lens replacement surgery can pretty much be handled anywhere nowadays and you think they would just simply be a little nicer to their customers.

I was virtually accosted the second I walked in because I didn't get my mask on fast enough. I told the loser to back off as I was donning my N95 but I guess I just wasn't fast enough on the draw because he yelled across the lobby that everyone needs a mask to be in the office. Kroger nope. Home Depot nope. Hendrick Auto nope. Publix nope. McDonald's nope.
No mask mandate. But the karens at this joint will jump your chit if you aren't fully masked up in the parking lot before you enter REGARDLESS OF VAX STATUS. I'm surprised they haven't hired a thug with a truncheon to wail away on anyone who even arrives at their parking lot without wearing a mask in their vehicle.even when alone. I'll take my business elsewhere as I choose to live my life without quivering and shaking out of fear as a daily norm.

My husband used the Roswell practice for the cataract procedure of both eyes. The first procedure (left eye) went very well. The right eye procedure turned into a fiasco. Not only was he left with an unclear and foggy vision, the arrogance and unprofessionalism he experienced was unbelievable. After the surgery, he explained what he was experiencing and was told to continue on the eye drops for an additional month.
He did that but it didn't help. When he went for the eye exam, he repeatedly said that he was seeing blurry letters and unclear vision in his right eye blurry but the Roswell office staff ignored him and "officially" recorded a 20/20 vision. After the procedure, several emails were sent to the administrative assistant/scheduler of the Dr.), but everything after that was ignored and we never received any written feedback.
The number of visits (scheduled as part of the plan and additionally requested) after the cataract procedure of his right eye shows high inefficiencies in the practice of this clinic. In his last visit, Dr. pointed out that he was an "outlier" case (one of a 100 patients), hinting that he did not deserve additional attention. Instead, the Dr. recommended an additional corrective procedure (that we have to pay for) with no guarantee it will provide the remedy to cure the right-eye vision.
A colleague of mine, had a similar experience in a different practice and the corrective procedure was provided free of charge. Unfortunately, neither the Dr. nor the Rosewell staff treated my husband with respect or took his complaints seriously. Even if a patient is one in a hundred, they still deserve same quality of service and medical attention.
I was extremely disappointed by our whole experience and the arrogance of the staff in this practice. It seems that patients are only numbers equivalent to the dollar amount they can extract from them and their insurance. This is unacceptable.

My eye surgeries were perfectly done. One year post op and I am problem free. I am able to drive at night without difficulty. For the first time since childhood I have 20/20 vision without glasses. The staff at Thomas Eye Group was expert and professional. Thank you so much Dr. Dana Wallace & Thomas Eye Group. I highly recommend them.

If I could give zero stars. I would! I had an appointment at 2:30pm and did not check-out until 5:30 pm. The techs are not aware of the policies here and give false information. I came her regarding headaches and have met my family max on my insurance, yet I ended up paying $55 dollars for a prescription that I DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR all because they did not inform me of what procedures I was receiving until it was time to pay. Dr. Blasberg is a quack and told me my vision was perfectly fine when I have had a worsening stigmatism since I was 10 years old.
I was put back into the waiting room 3 times and had to wait 30 minutes each just to be told that I was fine. All in all, this place is not convenient or helpful. I could have gone to America's Best for free and for the same information I received. 10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend. This place if for geriatric patients in need of surgery and very little else.

I've been a customer of Thomas Eye Group for years. After a (long) visit last week, I realized that I did not receive the attention that a patient deserves. My prescription is not right, which makes sense due to the fact that I was not actually examined by my doctor. After receiving my dilation drops, I waited for over an hour to be seen again (finally by my doctor).
I saw my doctor for about 5 minutes total, which I understand they are busy. I was then fitted for contact lenses. They felt fine, but things were still a little blurry due to the dilation and I never received reversal drops. After a few days, I realized that my new contact lens prescription was completely off. Now I need to circle back and start this process over again.
In addition, some of the employees were outwardly talking about how they couldn't wait to leave for the day. I get it, work is hard, but as a customer/patient it's just not something you want to hear. When calling the contact lens department, I felt like I was inconveniencing them. The only person that seemed happy to help was the person that brought me back and gave me my initial exam. I will not be returning.

Exam was fine. The optical center, wow, what a nightmare. My glasses (I bought 4 pairs) are still not right. both of my indoor (non-sunglasses) are not right. They are progressives, and the focus area for mid-to long term is off center, and I have to tilt my head up continually while on my computer to utilize the lower section. Their feed back was to just adjust to the new view-really?) The sunglasses I purchased ( the backup pair) don't fit (the concave lenses don't work with my prescription).
I took them back to get fixed, and they flatted the frame to the point that now the lenses are totally distorted. It is totally obvious that the lens it build for the a curved frame, not a flat frame. So all in all, three of the four pairs are unusable. I regret spending $2600+ at this place. And I'll never get the time I spent trying to get these corrected back.

Don't bother going here. Here are a few issue: 1. The staff is hit or miss. Some are very nice and some really are unfriendly and unhelpful. 2. They can randomly drop an insurance carrier and wont tell you this when you book or when you show up for the apt. You find out when you checkout. 3. You can have an 8am apt and not be done for a few hours.
For medical checks, Ive been there for 4 plus hours. 3. Their billing is a joke. Last year, they didn't bill us for one of my kids visit. and didn't try to send it to insurance. When I tried to book a new apt this year for same kid, they said they couldn't book it until old amount was paid. Then, they tried to attach the same old bill the other kid when we questioned it. Today, they tried to double charge for an eye exam. They expected us to pay until we questioned it. Find another place. They are not worth the headache.

My son and I are new patients and our experience has been frustrating! My appt with a specific doctor for lasik was changed to a regular optician without my permission. As a result I had to do a second appt (and untimely a third!). They are very automated to the point patients get run around from one system to the next vs helped by the staff. I dealt with that, but this was the last straw.
I accompanied my son to his contact appt. This is the first time for him. I was told I couldn't join him for the fitting because "there wasn't any room". As you can see that is NOT the case and he was only 10 feet from where I was standing. We were here for over an hour for this appt and the chair remained empty. The biggest problem I have here is getting lied to and jerked around - especially when I took off work to go on this appt with my kid.
If there is a "real reason" tell me that. My experience is 1 star.clearly the patient experience isn't the priority nor are we given much respect. I dont recommend soley based on how frustrating it is to be their customer.

Update: I was finally contacted to make an appointment shortly after posting this review. I made an appointment for two weeks out. The office cancelled and rescheduled my appointment WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME. Now I have to wait another week to be seen. Oh, and here's the kicker, none of the corrections that needed to be made to my name were actually done. -- I waited almost two months to get a set of trial contact lenses.
Both my name and number were incorrect in their system. Seriously, the entirety of my name was messed up. Both issues were not correctable via the patient portal. I tried to send a message through the patient portal on 7/20 to get into contact with the office. I also left a detailed voice message on 7/31. After not hearing back, I called again on 8/3 and finally got a hold of a person.
This person was also not able to correct these issues. They were, however, able to confirm that there was one attempt to contact the incorrect number on 7/13 but no follow up to either of the attempts I made to contact them. Honestly, for such a large eye group, you would think that they have their ducks in a row. Do not recommmend.

Great establishment. There was a lot of staff there. Everyone was happy and very friendly. Receptionist was help since we didn't had our actual INS card. My daughter (5) had an amazing visit just to check up. My visit was very good and quick. Exam was quick. Doctor came in a short period later to write his scrip and I was on my way. I was more amazed that they didn't try to sell me their glasses in their lobby!

My 4 year old went in three weeks ago to have an exam with an ophthalmologist due to an eye twitching issue. Firstly their check in process was not clear as a woman directed my wife and son that someone would be with them shortly and had them go sit down. The appointment started roughly 40 minutes late after wife walked up to counter to ask why it was taking so long. Dr. Berland seemed disinterested in actually examining our son.
He hardly looked at or talked to him, instead turning the T.V on and talking to my wife. He maybe looked at him for a whopping 30 seconds. The eye twitching we were there to talk about happened in the exam room.but lo and behold he wasn't even looking at our son. He was too busy telling my wife that he basically has a drifting eye and we would be seeing him again in a month. That's not happening after this.
They were supposed to send over a report to our Pediatrician still hasn't happened. We have reached out multiple times during the last three weeks to no response up until today. It remains to be seen if it will be to the Pediatrician tomorrow or not. Don't waste your time with them as they obviously don't value your time or their patients.

After waiting for 3 months to get an appointment for my daughter, they cancelled without any notification. They called us to confirm that she was not tested positive for COVID-19 two days before the appointment. They treated her very rude and they didn't make any efforts to help her. The doctors and technicians are nice and very professional but the receptionists are the worst. We were their customer for 10 years but we got tired of the bad customer service and the long waits. Sorry now we will take the family to another place.

Customer service is horrible. I've been a patient for years, and customer service has declined each year. The in office wait times have always been significant. However, I liked the providers, so I continued to go. However, recently. I called to make an appointment for my annual visit. I was on hold for in excess of 10 minutes to make an appointment.
I eventually hung up and tried requesting an appointment through the online portal. I did not receive a call back until 2 days later to schedule my appointment. Once scheduled, someone left me a message a week later saying that the doctor would not be working on the day they scheduled me and I would need to reschedule. I called to reschedule, and waited on hold again for more than 10 minutes.
When someone answered. They were unbelievably unprofessional and rude. They offered me a new appointment that was a month out from my original appointment. I told her that was not going to work for me, and she said "okay, have a nice day", with no apology for the inconvenience or attempt to resolve. I immediately researched and found a new practice.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes and mono vision for corrective vision. I am so pleased with out come. Had last eye done last week. Dr. Breman did a fantastic job my vision couldn't be better. Marjorie was so kind and great with arranging the surgery. The whole staff is wonderful from the office at Woodstock to all the nurses and staff at surgery center in Sandy Springs. I am very grateful for all of them. I would highly recommended the Thomas Eye Group.

I visited with Dr. Kaufman because my cousin recommended I see him and I'm glad I did. From the time I walked in the door it was an excellent experience. I have a rare eye condition and was seeing Dr. Kaufman for a second opinion. I left their letting them know I want to transfer my care to this team. They are professional and work like a well greased machine.
I have read the reviews and my experience was completely opposite. I think the difference being that I'm serious no nonsense kind of girl. I don't want a lot of disingenuous smiles - these people are strangers why would i expect them to treat me like we're best friends? I met six new people on my team today and they were all professional, courteous and got me in and out perfectly satisfied. I hope you don't allow the reviews scare you away from this fine team. Susan, Scott, Dr. Kaufman, Marjorie and Debbie (and reception) Thank you!

I was referred to Thomas Eye Group from my doctor. As a new patient I called to set up an appointment. I just sat on the phone for 16 minutes on hold and never even spoke with someone. Started reading these reviews and quickly hung up. Obviously they don't want new business if they can't even answer the phone!

Want to get terrible service? Want to be belittled by snooty receptionists making decisions for the optometrist on his/her behalf? Then go here. P.S. I've been going there since 2005 and never switched places because it's a place I only have to be inconvenienced with once a year but I am forever DONE with this place and lack of care for long term customers. For an eye care center, they are clearly blind to customer retention and basic human decency.

This morning, I waited an hour on hold to ask a simple billing question. AN HOUR! After which, I hung up. The last time my family visited this place, we waited for two hours after our scheduled appointment time, then waited another hour in the patient waiting room until we saw the doctor for ten seconds, and told to go home with a $300 bill. What is infuriating is that this place has the money and resources to better serve their patients, but the profit motive is apparently more important than their patients. Seek care elsewhere, like I did.

I'm currently in the waiting room and have to agree with others. We waited 50 minutes after our appointment time to be called back the first time. It's now been an hour since my son got the dilating drops. They are telling us this was unusual and there were some "tough cases" this morning. If it were so unusual, there wouldn't be other Yelp reviews saying the same thing. Be sure to pick an appointment when you have nothing else planned and bring plenty of snacks.
