He was later killed by police. Uvalde now joins the sad and tragic list that includes Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, and Douglas High, of scenes of horrific tragedy and children's deaths. The Georgia Chapter supports the calls from the AAP that action must take place to do something about this insane trend. We will be writing members of the Georgia Congressional delegation to urge their action on common-sense gun ownership laws, red flag laws, and other measures. The time for "thoughts and prayers", though of course certainly warranted and appropriate, is over and real legislative action is needed.

Also note, National AAP membership is not required for Chapter membership. Providing in-office physician education on breastfeeding, immunizations, developmental screening & other important topics.
Advocacy for infants, children and adolescent; and for our members are the two key goals of the Georgia Chapter. Legislative advocacy occurs at the State Legislative level in the Georgia General Assembly, which meets each year from January to April. PedPAC, our political action committee, supports legislators who have been friends to children and to pediatrics in the General Assembly.
During a busy day in your work in the field of pediatrics, have you ever thought to yourself, "If I could change one thing it would be ________"? Have you ever felt as if you had no voice, and no chance of changing the system? Submitting a resolution to the ALF is simple, and is a great way for a busy pediatrician or pediatric subspecialist to make a significant impact.
Each fall the Georgia Chapter recognizes outstanding contributions to Georgia's children and to the Chapter via the presentation of several awards. Chapter members may nominate individuals who met award criteria by August of each year. The following are the Chapter Awards, with a list of the recipients of the past 10 years included.
