Dr. Donahue and the team at Family Beginnings PC have over 20 years experience providing infertility care to the people of Central Indiana. As the pioneer of many reproductive technology "firsts" in Indiana, we aim to be the most innovative practice in the state. We were the first to perform a blastocyst transfer in 1998, the first to do a GIFT procedure at a Catholic hospital, and now the first to document a pregnancy with INVOcell in 2017. In keeping with current technology, we offer in-vitro fertilization (IVF) with pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT).

Our IVF lab and office opened in the fall of 2008 after two years of diligent planning and construction. A variety of factors go into creating a good IVF lab. To name a few, the lab must have an organized layout, strict safety measures, and the right people to make it all work. We believe we've gone above and beyond in every aspect.
If you are under 35 and haven't become pregnant after 1 year of unprotected intercourse (6 months if you're over 35), you may want to think about seeing a specialist. Infertility evaluations are simple and can usually be done in one month. Every patient starts with a detailed medical history and physical exam.

I can't say enough good things about everyone here! From our nurse Kim and Dr. Donahue to our embryologist Katie, everyone was amazing. We traveled from the Louisville, KY area, two hours drive one way to go here for our treatments. I recommend them to everyone I know who is undergoing fertility treatments.

Although Dr. Donahue and Family Beginnings did give us our daughter, we switched to Dr. Gentry with Advanced Fertility with our son. Dr. Donahue was wonderful and we truly liked him, but the nurses were frustrating, rude, and unprofessional. I believe the lady's name was Kim who made you feel ignorant and incorrect. Also, Family Beginnings appears to be the lowest cost, but there are so many things they hide.
When we switched to Advanced Fertility, it was much lower cost and everything was up front. Dr. Donahue's office is disorganized and you have no clue what to expect as opposed to Dr. Gentry and the wonderful nurses and staff who explain everything right up front. Also, Dr. Gentry's office would code certain things and insurance would cover it as opposed to Dr. Donahue's and they simply stated "your insurance won't cover anything".
I understand going through IVF is very frustrating in general, but Family Beginnings did nothing to make the process easier. Like I stated, I am thankful for the many embryos that Dr. Donahue was able to give us, but enjoyed the process with Dr. Gentry and his staff much more.

Don't go here! We spent $10,000 and all we received was ten days in the hospital with an infection. We drove 2 hours to the office when my wife was in horrible pain. Kim told my wife to drink water and rest. We went to the ER when we left and her white blood count was 26. They said she would of died if we listened to Kim. Called after she was released from the hospital and they wouldn't refund a dollar.
They said they have the cheapest prices around and won't refund anything. Side note: Kim (Office Manager) is very annoying with her constant use of the word OK. She said it 34 times the last time we were in the office. She needs fired for the way she handled our situation and the use of OK. I feel sorry for anybody that has met her and listened to her talk.

Family beginnings is an amazing fertility clinic. Dr. James Donahue cares so much about his patients. He is not only an exceptional doctor but an exceptional person. He went above and beyond while completing our invocell procedure. Dr. Donahue also really cares about the outcome for his patients. Family Beginnings staff and nurses were always available to answer any questions or concerns I had. I am so grateful for their diligence and compassion. Thank you Family Beginnings!

We went to the first meeting to schedule it was good then saw some disturbing things on the clientele to the point the wife walked to the wrong car when we left! Then the second meeting the disappointment began! We checked in, the rep smiled a lot and said ok! A lot! Then the doctor gave us poor to nil chances! Expressed NO COMPASSION! Not given many options! Played with a flip spiral card sitting on the desk on our low chances of conception! Gave non objectionable choices for fertility drugs that were expensive to purchase then to end it all!
Then with the if chances of conception, they didn't give options on the unused embryos( "I guess they just throw them away")My wife left crying! I was in a shock! GO TO! Midwest fertility on N Meridian Street Carmel! Much better more compassionate experience there!

My husband and I do not recommend this place at all. They had very unprofessional staff and doctor. We were greeted at the front desk by a blond bimbo who was winking and flirting with my husband when I wasn't looking. We were than taken to some "conference room" in the back and met with the doctor who had no bed side manner at all. He basically read off a flip chart and told me and my husband we had a 1% chance to become pregnant.
We are a "biracial couple" and felt that he had no interest in helping us conceive. Although he did speak about his clients from New York that flew in to see him. we didn't know if he was bragging or if he was hinting about the people with money that came to see him.? We highly recommend Midwest Fertility! We had a 2nd opinion with them and they are very nice, compassionate people and the doctor there was realistic but also offered us hope for our age and our issues.
Their price for procedures and drugs were also less at Midwest Fertility! But if you want your husband to be flirted with or a very non compassionate doctor who reads off a flip chart than this place is for you!

I typically only write reviews if my experience has been negative; however, our experience with family beginnings was exceptional. Dr. James Donahue is truly an incredible doctor and person. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff or this facility. Leading up to this procedure we had dealt with so many unprofessional doctors, and specialist - and spent years working with them. Going to family beginnings was such a breath of fresh air.
Whenever we had questions, we were always able to get a hold of the office. The invocell pricing was incredibly affordable relative to other clinics. While positive results are not guaranteed, I felt that they did everything they could to help us have a baby.

It boggles my mind that a medical professional is so uncompasionate. The nurse said they are just cramps. First time doing ivf and it failed and no one tells you what you should expect and when you call to see if the horrible pain you feel and the non stop nausea you feel is normal all they say is yup. Nothing like here is how you deal with this. When I pressed for a better answer her response was be here in 20 mins or go to ER. Really?!? I have never been so upset at a medical provider. As a nurse you may want to try and help your patient.
