The Neurological Institute will realize its potential as the nation's premier community-based neurology practice. In doing so, The Neurological Institute will maintain a leadership role in medical education, research and patient care that will meet the emerging needs of healthcare delivery in the 21st century.
Recognizing the need for specialized care in the treatment of head and brain injury patients, The Neurological Institute has created the Comprehensive Head Injury Program (CHIP). The goal of CHIP is to minimize the effects of cognitive and physical disabilities through a patient-centered, one on one approach.
What is it? Electromyography (EMG) is a test of a muscle's electrical activity. It is used to test how a muscle responds to signals from the nerves responsible for muscle movement, called motor nerves. An EMG may also include a test of how fast the motor nerve conducts impulses. This is called a nerve conduction study (NCS) or nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test.
