Checking in after 5 years from surgery date with Dr Manis Kraff (dad I believe to Coleman). I got PRK Surgery in Dec 2017. My vision started not too bad but I wanted perfect ( I started around -2 and -2.5), surgery was nice and easy. Very painful afterward for 3 days. My vision after surgery was 20/20 one eye and marginally worse than 20/20 in the other - overall very happy and worth the pain.

My vision in the past 9 months has gotten worse. I'm probably back to -1.5 or so, which the Kraff Eye institute says only happens to 2% of their patients. I called and spoke to a nice lady there to get a touch up and they wanted to charge me another 1200$ per eye + 400$ "check up". I decided to write this post to highlight that touch ups are indeed needed, and maybe at a rate higher than advertised?

Many other competent prk and LASIK docs in chicago do touch ups for free for life. Kraff only does them for 2 years for free (if you need it in two years maybe there was a problem haha). Be mindful of the warranties when spending your money- turns out I should've been more so.

I had Lasik on one eye four months ago. The procedure itself was smooth and the attention paid in post-op visits could not be better. Dr. Kraff is professional and polite but not cold. The nurses were great in keeping me calm prior to the procedure. Thanks so much!

In 2019 i had cataract removed from left eye and i was very satisfied. In January 2022 I had cataract removed from right eye and i must say it feels amazing to be able to see again out both eyes. Dr. Kraff is an awesome doctor and i will recommend his services.

Dr. Hyune (sp) is a highly skilled ophthalmologist! He explained how my age, and underlying medical conditions affect my vision. Additionally I prefer to wear contact lenses. The examination was so precise, I don't need to wear reading glasses anymore. I don't need to wear 'cheaters' in order to read a text message. or label. Life enhancing change. changes The office staff are welcoming and I received the best eye exam in over ten years. If you need eye care, this is the place to go!

I just had Lasik surgery on 1/14/22 and is so pleased. I was totally impressed with Kraff Eye Institute. They thoroughly tested my eyes to make sure the numbers were consistent. The staff was professional and very knowledgeable and Dr. Kraff was great! He made me feel very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Lasik surgery, but even more so recommend Kraff Eye Institute is the place to get it done. No regrets!

I had LASIK performed 6 months ago by Dr. Kraft and his excellent team. Dr. Kraff offers a free consultation for potential patients, which took about 30 minutes. He and his nurses were all very clear about the procedure itself, downtime, benefits, and potential side effects. Their clear and organized manner was the deciding factor. The procedure went very smoothly, again aided by the nurses setting clear expectations and explaining ahead of each step what I would experience. I could not be more pleased with the results and highly recommend for anyone considering corrective eye surgery.

I had the best experience here years ago. I had strabismus eye surgery at another facility in Iowa. While I was home I felt this severe burning in my eyes. I went to Kraff and one of the original founders treated me since I was an adult and this had been his speciality. He was phenomenal. I had a tear and he changed my eye meds. I couldn't be happier with the results of my PRK operation by Dr. Colman Kraff. I'm reviewing well over 3 years from my operation and everything is absolutely perfect. It was a little disconcerting immediately after the operation and the recovery period because your vision does CONSIDERABLY decrease for a little while but after that my vision is perfect.

I had 20/10 (better than 20/20) vision as a child and adolescent, went through astigmatism at around age 20 and had to wear glasses and/or contacts. I thought long and hard for several years before I finally decided to get lasik. I was really sick of wearing contacts and dealing with how dry they made my eyes and the constant need to order more of them. I found Dr. Kraff through several referrals at work, and despite their high recommendations Dr. Kraff superseded all expectations. His office is run like a well oiled machine.

There are 2 separate sides to it to keep things running really smoothly and efficiently, which is great and helps the patients from waiting in a long line or feeling crowded. From my first email, I spoke with someone named Callie, who was one of the nicest and most patient people I've ever met. I was excited that not only was she the person who responded to my many emails, but she was also the person who I met in the office who did the preliminary things and answered my questions.

I felt super comfortable knowing I would be with the same person throughout the process. I even felt badly for taking up SO much of her time with all of my questions, but she spent as much time with me as I needed, both on the day of the surgery and appointments leading up to it. Dr. Kraff was equally amazing. At no point did he ever make me feel rushed, nervous or pressured.

He remembered me throughout each visit, asking me specific questions about my job, family and activities I'd told him about. He really felt like family to me, and I trusted him fully every step of the way. During the procedure, he talked me through everything to keep me calm and followed up with me regularly post-lasik. I had PRK performed the summer of 2019. My vision was bad before (-7) in both eyes. I can see so much more clearly. The team was informative and professional. My only complaint is the side effects. I now have a mild case of recurrent corneal erosion which causes my eyelid to stick to my eye when I sleep. The pain used to be moderate but it is now mild.

Eye drops and ointments help but it's been almost two years and although there is progress it is really slow. Despite the eye sticking, I am still glad I got the procedure. My vision and overall quality of life improved. Just be aware one may have side effects such as bad night vision, halos, floaters, or in my case RCE.

I had my procedure JUST YESTERDAY and I'm already confident this is the best decision of my life to have my LASIK done at Kraff Eye Institute. All of the staff members are so knowledgeable and kind and I felt their excitement for me as I walked in for my procedure. While the procedure was going on, they walk you through every step, no surprises.

A couple hours after my lasik procedure, I experienced some burning and tearing which are normal side effects that I was already aware of. Those symptoms resolved within a couple of hours. Waking up this morning being able to see crystal clear was something i'll never forget. After my quick and easy post op exam, I learned I now have 20/15 vision. Love the staff (especially Emily, Callie Nicole and James). Dr. Kraff truly exceeded my expectations. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It is one week since my LASIK surgery! I am so thrilled with my experience and my results. Kraff Eye Institute has it DOWN! They are so efficient, approachable, and brilliant. The procedure was quick and the team made it so easy. I would like to give a shout out to Callie, Emily, Nicole, and James! Callie and Emily made me so comfortable and answered all my questions during the pre-op testing. James and Nicole truly helped calm my nerves during the procedure and did a wonderful job explaining what was going to happen and what it would feel like etc. I had no doubts my entire experience and I clearly had the correct intuition! I can see so well and I feel great!

In August I had LASIK here, so four months later, here's my review. I started out being better suited for PRK, but ended up with LASIK monovision. PROS --TRUST. you can trust Kraff 100%. He is totally passionate and professional and cautious as much as you could ever hope for! --CUSTOMER CARE. My initial consultation was in January and they met with me 6-8 times up to my surgery in August as we tried different options until I got JUST the solution I was looking for.

I shopped around, and Kraff was actually more affordable than competitors, AND I think the price range in general is WAY better than I thought it was going to be. --AFTERCARE. They are not done once they have your money. They truly care about your healing process and will invite you in for many follow up sessions to make sure you're being looked after. CONS --GTFO.

Some of the staff treat you like a commodity, rather than a person. When they're done with you, you can feel it. They'll read the script to you and then they want you to leave. --ASSUMPTIONS. The vision experience I wanted was ASSUMED! They never asked me, and this is a major flaw in their service design. Most people go in to have great long distance vision, so they will assume that is what you want, too. Me?

I spend most of my time indoors, not outdoors, so I wanted to prioritize near to mid vision. This ONLY came out in conversation because I was being assertive. So definitely don't be shy. Tell them what experience you want to be having.

When doing my research for LASIK, I checked out a few other clinics before finally choosing Kraff. And I'm so glad I did! The staff was extremely thorough and professional throughout the entire experience. I felt very comfortable. Dr. Kraff introduced himself on the very first consultation and was very friendly. I never felt rushed and the surgery itself was a breeze.

Very welcoming and talented staff. Dr. Kraff is very good at what he does, I was lifting the very next day with 20/15 vision in both eyes. My only regret is not doing it sooner. Cannot recommend the Kraff Eye team enough!

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kraff and Kraff Eye Institute. I had my PRK surgery a year ago and just finished my last follow up visit, with 20/15 vision! The entire world truly is in high definition now. Aside from the amazing results, Dr. Kraff is careful to explain risks when evaluating patient's eligibility for surgery, and he will not recommend that a high risk patient move forward.

This is critical in selecting a doctor. Dr. Kraff is a pioneer in this area, and he continues to work because he loves it, and he is changing lives. I know so many people who went to other vision correction centers to save money and ended up with complications. It is just not worth it in my opinion to trust anyone other than Dr. Kraff. I lived with contacts and glasses for over 18 years, and Dr. Kraff truly changed my life. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself, seriously so grateful to have found Dr. Kraff!
