I have been running for about 5 years, but recently developed a strange injury that has been plaguing me for about 3 months now. It causes me to have an odd walking and running gait, and makes my left leg feel very unstable. This affects me at all times, even slow walking around the house. I basically hobble around. This morning, I was able to get an audible pop from my knee with some adjustment that may have provided some relief, but I really have no idea what's wrong with it. Hoping that a professional could shed some light on what was going on with me, I made an appointment at Omaha Orthopedic Clinic & Sports Medicine.
The doctor saw me for what must have been a total of 5 minutes. He did not ask me any questions about how long I had been training, what exercise I was doing, or any other information that I would think would be pertinent. I found that odd. He instructed me to take 12 Ibuprofen a day (he said something about the maximum dose) and just to deal with it and keep running because there was nothing medically wrong with me.
He told me that muscle soreness was normal (as if I had never run or exercised before in my life and was unaware of this). He didn't write down or print out his prescribed treatment plan for me, so I don't actually have any proof or record of it. Before I could ask any of the questions I had for him, he had already left room. Not only did he never ask me if I had any questions, which seems like bad practice in general, there wasn't even an opportunity for me to even insert a question into the conversation because of the way he continued to talk as he walked out of the room and closed the door.
There was zero opportunity without just starting to talk over him (he was talking about cortisone shots). Desperate for relief, I actually attempted to do what he said and started taking Ibuprofen and continued my training plan. It seemed like very rudimentary advice, but I was hoping maybe it was actually that simple. Perhaps obviously, that has not gone well.
It's been one week since I started his informally prescribed treatment plan, and my leg is now worse than it has ever been. There isn't a doubt in my mind that there is something seriously wrong. I feel like there is a fluid build-up behind my knee almost, with a persistent burning sensation. Clearly something is torn or strained, and at this point I will just have to rest and let it heal.
All said and done, I wouldn't waste my time with this place if you're looking for evidence-based information about your injury. I received the most basic, common sense advice that you could get from any person you ask on the street, "Try taking some over the counter anti-inflammatories." I don't have a lot of confidence in the medical establishment because of countless experiences similar to this one. That being said, this experience exceeded even my already low expectations.

After years of pain went in to see about ankle surgery. I was told my ankle is shot and i need to go somewhere were there are resident DR to have my ankle fused. Okay I can understand that however when I asked for a specific name of another DR they would recommend He said just call the hospital up and make a appointment. When i asked about dealing with the chronic pain that is getting more and more impossible to endure he told me to take extra strength Tylanol 4 times a day and 2 Advil 3 times a day with a snack.
After taking that is he gonna refer me to a liver DR!? I asked if he could share with my Primary DR what he told me and he said why? I said because they would like to be in the loop during this. Mind you i paid a 75$ copay. In all they will be paid 250$ minimum. am sure they are going to tack on x ray and anything else they can. Very very very disappointed.
Its bad enough to have to be in this situation but when you cant even go to a specialist and have them care enough to even point you in a legitimate direction I was literally heart broken when I left there. Now the more I think about it the angrier I'm getting. I can't believe I let him treat me like that. BTW this review is about my experience with DR Michael Morrison.

Dr. Micheal Morrison needs to broaden his vocabulary to exculde profanity in front of small children. He was of NO HELP amd wasn't very knowledgeable. Dont recommend this place at all due to this terrible employee they have on their payroll. Will not go back and dont recommend a dog to be seen there.

Dr. Cimino really took care of me. He helped me fix my torn meniscus. As someone who hasn't really had a lot of surgeries (less than five), sometimes it can be a scary experience, and Dr. Cimino and his nurse, Chris, were both very compassionate in my care. The follow-up was just as pleasant. The surgery staff at the outpatient services also made everything a less scary experience. The staff members, from the receptionist, to the providers were very pleasant. Hardcore recommend this place for your needs.

1989 I had a major car accident with a broken hip, ankle, shoulder, and knee. The doctor in my home town told me I would never walk again. Dr. Cimino did my surgeries and the next day after my first surgery he said that in a year I would be up and going again. He was right and I have had very little trouble 29 years later because he did such a wonderful job. I have recommended Dr. Peter Cimino several times to family and friends. He always has patience for everyone. Manage

I rated Omaha orthopedic clinic and sports 2 stars because they did not listen to my future rehab goal and assist in achieving it. First off, I will say that this is not an indication of Lori in billing, she was extremely nice. The physical therapy area was very kind and helpful as well. Dr. Morrison is where my issue lies. I will give him credit, he was knowledgeable and I learned about my ACL tear and knee thanks to him.
The problem was that he did not listen to what my long term goal was for seeing him. My goal was simple, I tore my ACL and wanted to play basketball again. Instead, I was told "I know four other orthopedic surgeons that have had the same issue and they went the rehab route. Now they bike regularly and they do not have pain." Well great, if I want to bike and just not feel pain that's a great recommendation.
I wanted to play basketball again. I took his advice and went the physical therapy route until he said I could play basketball again with a brace. The first time I played again, I reinjured it from doing nothing out of the ordinary in a game of basketball. Regardless, I paid a fortune just to get an assessment which was accurate. However, I am in the same spot as I was before seeing Dr. Morrison.
Dear Dr. Morrison, I would recommend you LISTEN to what your patient wants to accomplish, not what you think is best based on other surgeons that had similar issues with different goals. Yes, you gave me both options and I asked what you recommend I do, and I listened since YOU are the expert. I would be ok with a doctor bill if I actually benefited from it. I did not in this situation. I would recommend going to a doctor that actually cares about what YOU want to accomplish.
