Eye Center Optical offers the convenience of one-stop shopping for your eyes at our optical departments. After your eye exam by one of our ophthalmologists or optometrists, you can have your prescription filled to the exact specifications without leaving the building. We now have optical departments at the following locations: Fort Collins at Prospect, Fort Collins at Harmony, Loveland at Centerra, and Greeley at Fox Run. We have a wide variety of frames so our certified opticians can help you choose the right look for you.
As one of the five senses, sight gives us a window into the world. Our daily lives depend so much on our sight that we don't think about it until something goes wrong. It's something that is easily forgotten or taken for granted. But when something goes wrong, be it an injury or a decline in our visual acuity, we want to be seen by a medical professional who can accurately diagnose and treat any disease or condition. In many instances, we might just need an adjustment in the prescription of our glasses, and at other times we need to see a specialist.

Sheila is excellent showing kindness, patience & professionalism throughout my eye exams. Dr. Chaney is very thorough and took additional time with me. Appreciate her kind demeanor as well. The front office staff deserve recognition as well being expeditious and courteous and thorough in both sign in & out. Will continue my eye care here and will refer others as well.

Very unhappy with this clinic. I spent 30+ minutes on the phone updating insurance information 3 weeks PRIOR to 4 schedued appointments (3 kids and myself). I specifically told them that 3 of us need eyeglass prescriptions/new glasses. All that time and nobody told me that our insurance is accepted for exams but not their optical center. I should've been informed of this and wasn't until after they made money off the exams. Due to lack of courtesy and poor customer service, would not recommend.

They somehow completely missed my astigmatism, which I have been diagnosed with repeatedly for 20 years. I kept trying to tell them something was not quite right with my contacts, but they got frustrated and impatient with me instead of listening to or addressing my concerns. As a result, I wasted my time and money on an inaccurate prescription. I will not return to or recommend this place. However, I do want to mention the Black woman I started with was super friendly, welcoming, and considerate.

Surgeon was great, procedure went very well. IV appears to have improperly inserted leaving a large bruise over a weak later. I also failed to go under when the anesthesia was purportedly delivered. My pain was manageable, from the eye drops, but still there. Overall the anesthesia was inadequate, while the surgery was excellent.

I would like to take a moment to give a shout out to Amanda W at the Harmony Location. I was needing to be seen on an emergency basis and Amanda helped me get a same-day appointment with one of the MDs at the Precision office. After being seen at Precision, I was referred to an ENT specialist for an emergency same day visit. Amanda has called me everyday to see how I was doing and feeling.
I can hear the compassion in her voice and the concern that she holds for her patients. The sincerity of having staff call and check on you makes you feel like your health truly matters. Thank you Amanda for the care that you have shown me.

My left eye was swollen still 2 weeks after My Lasik w Dr. Foster. I called the office to let them know and was told to come in. This was a follow up ~ (my ONLY follow up appt w the Office, excepting the "one day mandatory" after surgery). Dr. Patel wrote in his notes (apparently) that he had told me it would be a charged visit. He did NOT. (( Why would a follow up be charged? Mandatory postop visit is not the same as the follow up! )) This was a follow up to the surgery and a problem with it with one eye being still swollen.
If he would've told me it was a charged visit I would have stated my displeasure with that then and talk to him about other options. Perhaps seeing my original ophthalmologist?! Although the swollen eye was a direct result of the surgery and certainly nothing else. Because of his notes the office sent me a bill for $150. Also when I set up the LASIK appointment.
The person that was assisting me with the process gave me a timeline for expected visits etc. And made them without communicating them to me. For instance I knew the timeline so I made an appointment to dilate my eyes two weeks prior to the surgery. And it had been canceled by the Lasik staff because they had made a different one on a different day.
And not notified me. Thank goodness Susie and my original doctor's office noticed the discrepancy and called me to straighten it out. I felt like we had a good rapport with everyone at the Lasik office but I am more than extremely disappointed in the lack of real communication.

Realizing after I posted this she was seen at the Precision drive location. My daughter suffered a traumatic eye injury on the fourth of April. We had taken her to the ER twice being told that we're being dramatic first time parents and we're not qualified to be making the assumptions we're making about her eye. We finally got a referral from her pediatrician after three days and she was seen here with Dr. Galt.
I can't express how amazing her and her team are. After being ignored it was massively relieving for them to take us seriously. The things I was concerned about were in fact going on with her and it's a very good thing she got in when she did. Since she's been born we've had multiple issues trying to get healthcare providers to listen to the concerns we have, as we're usually brushed off as being over concerned.
The visit went amazing, they were amazing with her, and toddlers are difficult even when they're not being looked at by new people. My husband and I, while worried for her, feel so much relief that she is in the hands of people who are going to take amazing care of her. Dr. Galt even got the second opinion of a surgeon when she wasn't sure without me voicing concern for one. The entire staff really was welcoming and loving to my daughter from the second we walked through the door to the second we left. I couldn't recommend a better group!

I was referred to the Eye center for cataracts. My initial consultation with Dr. Ryburn could not have been more positive. I was given three choices to restore far vision, near vision or multi-focal lenses with no need for glasses. At my initial pre-op I inquired about the multi-focal lenses and the tech told me I was not a candidate because of my irregular astigmatism.
This was not discussed during consultation but I elected to address my Far vision. The day of surgery I was delayed from 1;30 to 3;30 because Dr. Ryburn had a complication with another surgery. After surgery I experience much discomfort for four weeks and my vision did not improve at all. In seeking a second opinion I had my records sent. In those records Dr Ryburn falsely claims that he discussed my irregular astigmatism and that perfect vision may be difficult to achieve.
Now six months later my vision is still the same. Management could care less and has not responded to my questions of poor results and Dr. Ryburn lying about his initial discussion and outcomes. I just received a letter from the Eye Center as I was writing this stating Dr. Ryburn is no longer with them. So perhaps Dan Karpel the CEO will finally acknowledge my concerns! Terrible experience!

Great eye clinic! I have seen Dr. Chaney for approximately 10 years, and she very knowledgeable and friendly. Minimal wait times, I never wait more than 5 minites for anything. I was so impressed with her assistant Sheila today; she was efficient and enjoyable to talk too. I definitely recommend the Eye Center of Northern Colorado.

I had an urgent need to get medical attention for an eruption of shingles close to my eye. This carries the risk of blindness. The Eye Center set up an after hours appointment for me. The staff were efficient and the doctor had excellent knowledge on the management of this condition. I am deeply grateful for their response and service.

Love the eye doctor here. He is so great with my daughter and she loves going to her eye exam. Optical side is a different story. Front desk at optical has always been short with me, once because I dropped in to get my daughters glasses (to pick them up) and another time because I stopped in to get those glasses fixed, another time because I simply asked for a copy of my daughters prescription and the measurement between the eyes.
Maybe the opticians are great! The one we worked with was nice and wonderful. Front desk on the optical side has a bad attitude and they are the first point of contact. I won't buy glasses there anymore but we love the doctor we see there. In my opinion, the other places I have used have been more accommodating and understand that people cant wait a week for an appointment to get glasses tightened. Still rating 5 stars as the doctors and front desk staff for the Eye center are great, my complaint is toward the optical side.

Here for a new eye glass and contact lens exam. As a new patient, I was happy to find the Loveland location close to my home. Check in included paperwork. You end up seeing 2 technicians before seeing the optometrist. For my contact lens follow up, I was told that I had to visit the Fort Collins location going forward as the optometrist no longer practices in Loveland. Seeing someone else at the Loveland location is not at option.
Follow up exam at Fort Collins: saw two technicians to find one is a trainee who checked me in. No hold up at all here. The wait for the optometrist was another 10 minutes or so. I haven't experienced such long winded processes. It certainly takes a long time for each visit, and I get the impression that this is possibly a training ground for newbies entering the field.
I found that calling in after my first exam was routed to an automated service with a return call the following day. Appointment confirmation was another long winded questionnaire just to self identify first. All in all, very cumbersome experiences.

Wonderful doctors horrible prices for glasses. I found a pair of glasses I really liked, my eyes were dilated so I couldn't see much up close let alone any writing. The gal told me that insurance would cover $265 and my portion would be 518. That is insanity to me. The frames were 300 and my insurance was covering half so how in the world can the lens that much. I will continue to see the doctors for my annuals and anything needed in between but I will not be purchasing glasses from here.

I went to three different doctors here for pain and excessive tearing in my left eye. I was seen by 3 different doctors, and they all did an examination, and gave me their findings. The answers were: Eye lashes poking my eye. Dry eye divot on cornea Eyelid erosion, damage to my meibomian glands Treatments were: remove the eyelashes periodically a eyedrop medication for the damaged cornea referral to Dr Reistadt (3 month wait) Instead of waiting three months I went to an Eye surgeon in Denver who referred me to Dr Jaclyn Munson - Fort Collins Family Eye Care.
She immediately found the root cause of my problem - Meibomian Gland Disease and began treating it with Vitamin A, Hydrolite Plant-based oil supplement, and a special heated eye mask. Within 2 months all of my symptoms are gone, my glands are again producing the oil necessary to coat my tears, and my vision is back to normalIn with no pain. Even though one of the Docs at NOCO Eye got the diagnosis correct - they had no clue as to how to treat it! All they could do was to refer me to the surgeon? I am sorry but this was a massive waste of my time and money. Go see Jaclyn Munson if you want great eye care.

The front desk staff are not always the friendliest, but I would not let that aspect of this office's customer service deter you because the care I received from Dr. Arnold and his assistants was fantastic! I have strabismus and had five surgeries as a young child, and I recently had my sixth surgery and adjustable sutures in both eyes this past May. I've been waiting to write a review because I wanted to see how my eyes "settled." While the suture adjustments were quite painful, I am very happy with the end results.
My eyes are straighter both vertically and horizontally, and Dr. Arnold reattached a muscle that had not been used in two and a half decades and it has about 50% mobility, which is a great outcome. As a less important but pleasant surprise, the shape of my eyelids has also improved. Dr. Arnold and his assistants were friendly, knowledgeable, and answered my many questions, and I also had a positive experience with the billing manager and did not encounter any surprises when it came to out-of-pocket expenses.
If you do your research regarding what to expect, this should be a straightforward process. My post-operative recovery was difficult, but I have a lot of scar tissue from prior surgeries meaning my experience was likely unique.

Very gracious front desk staff. Well organized office where I received an exam to follow up on diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts were diagnosed as well. A very thorough exam, with advice to return in a year unless any vision changes were noted. I felt very well taken care of and recommend the Eye Center highly.

They were very rude at the front desk, and the doctor was very dismissive of my reason for being referred by two other doctors. My family history and my severe symptoms were what warranted my family care physician and a referred optometrist to send me to the eye center of Northern Colorado. I have been in the care of lovely eye card specialists in the past due to my eye health issues, but these doctors were not caring nor specialists.
During my visit they treated me as if I was an idiot or worse, lying to them about my symptoms. I was there for over two hours, and during my visit they left me alone for 26 minutes in a brightly lit room after being dialated, which was very uncomfortable and basically cruel. They gave me no diagnosis and told me to go to the ER if I had symptoms again. Completely unprofessional and condescending.

I have been a patient of Eye Center of Northern Colorado in Greeley for about two years. Recently, when I tried to get an appointment with Dr Sturm, I was sent to a voicemail. I left a request for a callback two times, but nobody called me back. I realize that this may be difficult times due COVID-19, but it is inexcusable when I leave two messages and nobody calls me back. I don't know what I would have done if I had an emergency. I will be finding a new ophthalmologist. Respectfully, Michael Arakawa

I have been a patient at the Eye Center since 1984. At that time I was diabetic and pregnant. I was initially seen by Dr Shachtman for a retinal hemorrhage. I have seen Eye Center specialists since that time for all my visual exams, procedures, and surgeries. I have always received prompt attention with return phone calls and exams when needed. In more recent years I have seen the retinal team.
This past year my vision has become more difficult to navigate. Dr Crews took the time to listen to what was happening from my perspective. He was able to diagnose what the problem was and what needed to happen to improve my vision. This involved surgery on my one functioning eye. We were able to meet With Dr. Crews for an extra visit to discuss our questions.
I cannot give him and his staff enough praise. Everything was handled so professionally. The surgery was a success and I have regained almost all of my sight. This has changed my life dramatically. Thank you all so much.

New to Noco and found that ECNC participated in my insurance program. I chose the Centerra location for ease of getting there from Timnath Ranch. Parking was easy. The staff was very nice from the minute I walked in. I actually had an appt and had to cancel the day before and was given the next day, very easy. Short check in and wait time. Easy exam. Technician had great personality, very caring. I did not get glasses made there, so I cannot comment on that part of the practice.

Eye Center of Northern Colorado (ECNC) provided a HORRIFIC new customer experience on 9/24/18. Billing nightmare: Tricare confirmed I had a 100% dependent reimbursement from Tricare while my husband is deployed - I called ECNC to confirm they accepted my insurance terms before scheduling. They confirmed. They later recanted that they only accept about half coverage AFTER my appointment even though I called prior to scheduling and specifically asked this question.
I provided my secondary military insurance to which Becky Kincher replied on Dec 22 "Thank you. The balance of $55 remains due from you but I will courtesy bill the contact lens refit to your supplemental insurance.)" Courtesy? I never received further communication from ECNC until their collections notice on March 5 charging me $80. As for the appointment - after my entire exam with the "tech", I waited almost 20 minutes to see the doctor and almost had to leave before completing my appointment (this does not include waiting room time) to have 8 MINUTES for her to review the tech notes, shake my hand, and ask if I had any questions.
The only reason I came here is because they pre-approved that my new insurance would cover my appointment! Imagine how much time and disappointment this has been for me or any customer who goes this "volume shop" which means they compete on price to churn and burn through patients while you get very little actual time with the doctor and ineffective customer and billing service.
I am so astonished I have submitted a complaint about Eye Center of Colorado to Tricare West, Healthgrades, and even the BBB. Becky in billing emailed that she would bill my secondary insurance and collections notice 3 months later without ever emailing, calling, or mailing me again ("You have not responded to our previous letter" is incorrect. I never heard from ECNC after Dec 22 so I assumed Becky actually did her job and invoiced my MOAA insurance as promised - but then they also "pre-approved" that they took my Tricare insurance full dependent coverage).
On March 27, 2019 Tricare West sent me a copy of the letter sent to ECNC confirming that I was unjustly billed: "you cannot bill a Tricare beneficiary for non-covered care unless you inform the beneficiary in advance that Tricare does not cover the care. Also, the beneficiary must waive his or her right to hold harmless by agreeing in advance in writing to pay for the specific non-covered care." I never heard from ECNC or their collector again, a letter of apology or acknowledgement would have been appropriate.
I have left a negative review on Yelp, Google, and a complaint on BBB #13439417, and submitted a grievance form to Tricare West based on how poorly they handled this situation. They do not respond to negative reviews and obviously do not care how they treat their patients. I've uploaded the letter from Tricare West as proof.
