What a difference! Went to the ROC express today for services related to some joint and ankle pain and thank God for their team! First patient in and my visit was so smooth and quick. No issues at all and the staff was great from start to finish. I was scheduled for PT following my services and had to go upstairs and make my appt and OMG it was like entering a new little orthopedic world with a beautiful lobby and cute cafe.

I have not been to this location since first moving to Reno over 7+ years ago and the new development is amazing. I remember when it used to be a single story location, but look at the growth! Super excited to return for PT and explore a bit more. Great job ROC team!

Dr. Shukla needs an attitude adjustment and a major overhaul of his absent bedside manner. He was blunt, caustic, and totally lacked concern or empathy. He wasn't interested in me as a patient, only as a hip replacement. He seemed like it was an imposition for me to even seek his advice, and I certainly will not allow him to ever operate on me.

This is a mixed review because I had separate experiences there on multiple occasions. I'll concentrate on two of them; the first was with Dr. Lundeen for a foot that needed surgery. Dr. Lundeen was very pleasant, if a bit rushed, during the initial appointment. Surgery was scheduled and the day of surgery he came in to see me prior to the operation and was very reassuring.

The surgery went well, follow-ups we're relatively easy, Dr. Lundeen was very kind and it was a very good experience. Dr. Lundeen's staff was always helpful and concerned when they needed to be. A trifle confused by the rebandaging department, if that's what they're called. Had problems with my foot and/or it's dressing a few times and found every person dressed it differently, some better then others.

I feel they should get on the same page. Other then this, I had absolutely no complaints. My second experience was completely different. I had an appointment with Dr. Kalisvaart about an extremely painful knee, but for some reason that wasn't really made clear to me, I couldn't be seen by him. I'd been in ROC about a year prior for the same knee, was given an injection by a pleasant doctor, which helped for a short while, and told I really needed a knee replacement.

At that time I was concentrating on my foot and to my regret I neglected to even get that doctor's name. ROC told me they couldn't find the appointment so they couldn't tell me who I'd seen(?) Back to my appointment with Kalisvaart, who I'd been told I couldn't see. I was to be seen by a Dr. Jackson. I waited and waited, finally got in for an x-ray, waited and waited and waited some more.

About 2 and a half hours later, I was taken to see Dr. Jackson, who was rude, smug and condescending. He told me I was in pain because I was on pain medication and if I quit taking it everything would get better. I'm on pain medication for three failed spinal fusions that have left me in severe, chronic pain. I see a Pain Management Specialist to manage it, never abuse my medications and these medications have allowed me to function as a normal human being and even work part-time.

Doctor Jackson did have his nursing assistant give me a knee injection which lasted for a very short period of time. I had xrays taken and saw another surgeon at a different facility and was told my knee is virtually bone on bone and needs a replacement. I'll never see Dr. Jackson again. Never have I been treated so poorly and so rudely by a doctor anywhere at anytime. I will probably be returning to ROC for my knee surgery, by a different surgeon, so I have had good enough experiences there to give the facility another chance.

The worst communications from any medical provider I have ever dealt with. I had a below knee amputation. I was supposed to be walking again in three months. I have now been stuck in a wheelchair for eight months. A careless nurse left a suture in that got infected (even when I pointed it out to her). Another nurse a few months later (Heather, an APRN!) pushed on a new wound (caused by a bone infection, left untreated for MONTHS) and it squirted her right in the eye.

She was wearing no gloves or eye protection. There was not even a sink with running water in the room so she could wash herself. I have been in third world medical facilities that were more sanitary. I would never recommend this company to anyone. This is a great example of why a doctor at Stanford referred to northern Nevada as "the McDonald's drive through of medical care".

Avoid these clowns. UPDATE: 04/26/2022 Finally got an MRI through my primary care doc after FOUR MONTHS of delay from Dr. Cassenelli at ROC. The bone is infected, most likely due to "mishandling of the tissue after amputation" The last thing Dr. Cassenelli said to me was "you might have a bone infection and we might have to cut off a couple of more inches, see you in two months". INEXCUSABLE! Don't let this hack near you! I am moving to Tahoe Ortho. I am also reporting this to the Nevada Medical board. This borders on criminal negligence, in my opinion.

My first time in this clinic since the whole renovation and I must say the clinic and PT gym had a major make over. Its so much more spcious, clean and an inviting environment, I dig it. Came here for a follow up visit with Dr Alberston. Check in process was smooth and I was seen exactly at the time of my appointment. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, Dr Albertson is great.

I had Xrays that needed to be done and even that only took a few minutes. Their parking situation is not the most convenient though, parking space right outside the bldg is very small and cramped. They do have 2 other parking lots around the area and some street parking. So I would recommend giving yourself an extra time to find parking prior to your appointment.

The parking is a mess, go early or have somebody drop you off. This is one size fits all and assemblyline medicine--do not ask questions you will not be heard. I was trying to schedule a hand surgery. I went through the pre surgery steps like I was supposed to do as a patient. Ten days ago I was contacted by the surgery scheduler. After we began the conversation she advised that the surgeon did not have the equipment--no kidding this is what she said.

We have not connected since. I have asked that she communicate via email--nothing. I really want this surgery. I am in Salt Lake City regularly where there are trustworthy services so I will solve my problem. Think twice these guys have just lots of weak links!

I'm giving the 2 stars for customer service. We had a referral sent to them at the never called. I called to make sure the referral to them and they said it had. They transferred me to scheduling to set up an appointment. Of course, even though it was no where near lunch time I had to leave a message. Still they didn't call me back. Finally, because my daughter was in a lot of pain we went to see a doctor at the ROC express who gave us another referral.

They still didn't call me. I called to make the appointment and asked if they had Mt number correct and they did. Her attitude was terrible! My daughter has an appointment finally but we shall see how that goes.

Have you felt helpless in your own health evaluation? Have you felt like the choices of alternative surgery were never explained to you? I like the statement from a Physician Assistant, "You're 67 you have had a good run"'! Time has come when you should be grateful. Forget about bench presses or military presses, '' washing your hands and face, and wiping your butt, is what you should be grateful for and should look forward to!

I had surgery on my shoulder 7 years ago in Folsom Ca. and the Doctor at that time explained we might revisit and do this again in years to come, You see my body has a way of creating bone spurs and losing cartilage. It was pointed out years ago he could shave some parts that constitute the shoulder socket and clean the area out. No alternative was given to me by Dr. Dobbs's PA other than ' when you can't stand the pain any longer, we will do shoulder replacement. Meantime I received a cortisone shot and have been in agony for two weeks since the appointment I do recommend Eric Boyden. Eric spoke with me and replaced both knees. As far as the PA for Dr. Dobbs who is a shoulder specialist, I guess. Rather be thrown in a concentration camp.!

I would not recommend Roc to anyone! I have been to 3 of their clinics, and none of their doctors have given me any relief from pain. The Robb Drive location wanted to pass me off to the physician's assistant, and I refused. That didn't make the nurse very happy at all! She was rude from the beginning (her name is Torie, but I believe she and the dr she worked with have since left Roc) I had waited for a month for this appointment, and I was not going to be shuffled off to some brand new PA! And, whenever I went in to see Dr. Arraiz, Torie never helped me to the exam room, when I clearly had trouble walking. Aren't these people supposed to help the injured?

I did see Dr. Albertson, and she was very kind and seemed to want to help, but her specialty is sports medicine, I believe, so I have no idea why I was referred to her. The South Meadows Rehab facility was nice and the pt's were kind, but did me absolutely no good. Neither did the downtown location. So yes, all of my experiences with Roc was subpar. Cynthia

The original appointment went well and I felt like I walked out of there getting good service and understanding the next steps. However she said to give her one hour to call in there medicine that I needed to The pharmacy. Four hours later she has still not called in so I called her and she did it for me online while she was sitting there. So three days later I called to ask why I have not heard anything from the MRI schedulers.

They were very clear that I was going to get an MRI scheduled even to the point of letting me know that someone would call me for them I asked her twice. The doctor was very clear he wanted an MRI before Dr. Shukla looked at it on the next Tuesday. They said it wasn't in the charts and they were not going to help me get one. They said they would check with the doctor next week when he got back yet.

Well there's a whole lot of time just wasted. I cannot stand this either lack of communication forgetfulness on their part or just plain in competency and I can't believe it's that. I am still waiting

I went into ROC Express on Saturday the 25th of September. I went there with severe pain in my left hip. The receptionist questioned me on previous doctors, insurance, previous treatments etc. She advised me that there was only one PA working that day, and he/she would not be able to see me. After I showed her my Anthem/Blue Cross insurance card, she said they do not contract with them. I felt like a second class citizen after I left. I will never go there in the future!

I did not have my surgery here, but all my follow up care was at ROC. I had emergency ORIF of my wrist done in SLC after a MTB crash. It took three weeks to even get an appointment for my first follow up after surgery. I called many times and got the runaround every time. Not answering, getting transferred to someone that doesn't answer, and not calling back were all the issues.

I had a demand that I talk with someone that would actually make an appointment for me because I had external pins sticking out of my hand that needed removed at a certain time. I have had many issues with paying my bill as well, from not being able to login and contacting billing. Not really a negative experience with the MD (Kaiser), he's been good so far. Mostly with ancillary parts of the operation.

I obviously have trouble walking. When I checked in, I was told to have a seat and wait for imaging. There were no seats available. When I asked the girl at the desk for a chair, she pointed to a heavy chair across the room and told me to sit there. She made no effort to assist me in moving the chair where I could hear my name if called. Your first impression is that of an assembly line run by a front desk of incompetent, uncaring, untrained girls at a patient's first point of contact.

I highly recommend the Orthopedic Center even though I was disappointed with care I received. I went in for what was supposedly a surgery consultation, but was given steroid shot a brace and was back to square one in my already three month treatment of my ankle. But next month will be seen by correct treatment and correct steps and yes surgery, just not just a bandage and new brace

Have such a great experience! The doctor was kind and had great bed side manner. He took the time explaining what was wrong with my knee, and was sympathetic and went over different options that could help me. This facility was also very clean and organized and everyone was friendly. I Would definitely recommend coming to this place for orthopedic care.

My wife had surgery to fuse vertebrae. She has 5 screws in her neck. Dr. Goz was her surgeon and was amazing! Very compassionate and answered all our questions. She now has full mobility and no pain. Can't say enough great things about Dr. Goz! Great bedside manner. Great at answering questions. Very open and concerned with ensuring she was ready to return to work! I know surgeon's are well paid, but I must say, Dr. Goz deserves every single penny! Thanks Doc!

EZ PZ from start to finish. Parking was weird at first then I stumbled upon a sign that said, "ROC parking open", which was great on a weekday in the early morning. The parking lot guard instructed me with walking directions to the front entrance. It was inviting as soon as I walked in. The wait was next to nothing, temperature was taken first thing, then check-in was a breeze with the iPad.

I took the elevator up, snapped a few pics, then my name was called. I kind of wanted to wait a little longer. I only waited in my room for a couple minutes then Dr. Babovic came to diagnose my elbow. All is well, the building is beautiful, I'm impress with the ROC.

To precursor this rating I speak as one who has been in the 'caring professions' for over 25 years. I help people when they are at their lowest. That being said, after suffering with a sprained neck/shoulder for almost 6 weeks I finally broke down and went to my PCP. The x-ray showed nothing but that would not image soft tissue, so they referred me to ROC.

As many of late, I lost my insurance last March and have applied for Medicaid which is pending. When I walked into ROC, relieved that there will be an end to this pain, I was asked for $300 since my MC was still pending. Coming from a healthcare background, I know that they could have billed MC and it would be covered retroactively. Tonight I sit in pain and disbelief at how "patient care" is more about profit then care. Very sad.

State of the art exterior and interior of the building. Easy accessible. Ample parking lot. Donica, Medical Assistant was at most courteous and professional. David Swanson, M.D., Orthopedic Surgeon, Fellowship Trained Trauma Specialist appeared personable, capable to actively listen and manifest empathy to my concerns. The other staff members, which I've encountered, provided me with mediocre, unmemorable service. Please train and educate.

Dr Boyden is the best along Tina and all who work at ROC So Reno Sparks if you need knee or hip replacement from a Dr who listens has the best attitude with years of experience trust me I've had some bad experiences with several surgeries from not doing my homework when it comes to choosing a Dr I checked every review site I could find as I do on all Drs anymore I could not find ONE bad review with Dr Boyden

Broke my ankle in 3 places at work at close to midnight on a Thursday. I was in seeing Dr Casinelli the next day, first surgery was scheduled the following Monday, had an external fixation put on and experienced drainage afterward, ROC got me in to see Dr Casinelli the day I called, final surgery was February 15th and after hardware placement things are going amazing.

I am currently in physical therapy at ROC in sparks and the team there is awesome too. Everyone at ROC is super respectful and extremely professional. Dr Casinelli is an amazing orthopedic surgeon and has a PHENOMENAL bedside manner.

ROC is very likely committing fraud by requiring a deposit and signature stating the patient will pay any costs for orthotics that insurance doesn't pay. This goes against the contract they have with Blue Shield (and very likely other insurance contracts) which states that payment by Blue Shield is payment in full. It's also illegal to require a signature on a document that is itself illegal. You need to stop this ROC and refund all the patients to whom you've done this. This is only the beginning. We deserve ethical, quality health care!

Dr Lundeen: the man has given me hope that my ankle will work properly! I am truly sorry I did not end up here first, it probably would've saved me weeks of time getting in to repair what needed to be repaired. The staff in the clinic was amazing, they are being very careful with covid 19 going around. When will encounter the screening questions and a temperature check upon arrival, and the clinic itself has seats well spaced and plenty of protective gear around the office to make anyone feel safe.

The surgery center also was amazing! The lady who checked me in was just wonderful, kind, personable. And the other nurses I saw coming out to retrieve patients also or just fabulous and put one at ease. Dr. Lundeen on the other hand is simply amazing. He really takes his time to investigate what's going on, to make you feel cared for and do the best job he can do it's just obvious from the get go.

I was his last surgery of the day, and I think I got just the best care! Dr. Chen was my anesthesiologist, and he was pretty awesome too. I got to meet him while he did the nerve block before surgery, it was not at all uncomfortable, he was quick and efficient. Recovery was quick and easy and I was home and on my way recovery. One postop visit so far, stitches are out, and I still simply adore Dr. Lundeen.

I would recommend him for anyone that might have a foot or ankle issue. The ROC urgent care will be my first stop next time I have any issues, I will skip the ER or any other urgent care.

I had a Conformis total knee replacement three days ago. While I got there about 6am, I went into surgery at 9am. I was walking on my leg on the way home at 12:30pm. The clinic is incredibly efficient, friendly and talented. Dr Jackson Jones did the surgery which lasted about an hour.

Took my 94-year-old mother to the walk-in Reno Orthopedic Clinic (ROC) on Tuesday, November 24th because she had pain in her pelvis and hip area and thought she might've suffered another spontaneous fracture. She was examined by a PA in the walk in clinic and sent to St. Mary's for an MRI, with a follow up appointment set for December 8th!

The MRI Technicians at St Mary's were fabulous. They were kind, compassionate, and did everything they could to make her comfortable during the procedure. But of course, they're not allowed to say anything about the results. Mom needs to wait 2 days for a full-fledged doctor to give her results. Still in excruciating pain after the Thanksgiving holiday and without a call from ROC to advice her of her MRI results, my mom called ROC office Monday the 30th and all she got was the promise of a call back that didn't happen on Monday.

She called again and finally reached a real person on Tuesday, December 1st. She was advised she had to wait until her December 8th appointment for results! The fact she's in excruciating pain and ROC has suggested nothing to her to help with that pain is unconscionable. She might have yet another spontaneous fracture in her pelvis and have to wait for it to heal.

Or maybe it's a hip fracture snd she's going to need surgery. She's terrified that being 94 years old, she truly believes she would survive the surgery but not the recovery. So let me understand your process ROC, allow a 94 year old woman to wait two weeks while in excruciating pain and her mind wandering to the worst possible outcome to find out what her MRI has shown, all the while offering her nothing in the way of pain management. Treating a patient like this is nothing short of barbaric and inhuman.

Now mind you, COVID-19 is rampant in the Reno area and she's already been to their office once so, I guess they expect her to go again and risk her health once more. It's absolutely unconscionable that someone at ROC can't give her information over the phone and in a more timely manner than two weeks out. My cats receive more compassionate care at their vet! Shameful ROC. One star is one too many.

I fell and broke the top of my shoulder (on my Humerus) on November 2nd. I started out at ROC Express (and will post my review there soon, too), but a key point for me regarding this, is it seemed that I got into the specialist quicker than I may have otherwise. Twice at my first appointment they acted surprised that I was already there for an appointment with my specialist less than two days after I broke it.

They have a lot of specialists here and then some who are educated to take care of basically anything orthopedic. My doctor is Dr. O'Mara and he has a specialty of trauma and fractures. He is wonderful. I could tell this the first day, but then I also was told by a friend who used to work with him as a nurse (at another location), that she thinks he is one of the best in his specialty and great to work with.

That did not surprise me, but definitely helped me feel even better. All of the staff at this location are amazing (except for one of the ladies in x-ray who was extremely snippy - fortunately, I have only dealt with her once - Nov 30th). The assistant has always been great, the other x-ray people, office staff, and the man who brought me a different sling at my second visit was amazing with a couple of tips that REALLY have helped (he has had many shoulder issues himself). I totally recommend the Reno Orthopedic Clinic for anything that they take care of.

I had a terrible fall last month and Dr. Walker performed emergency surgery on me the very next morning. I was concerned since it was a difficult surgery including two titanium rods being placed to hold my femur (long bone) in place for healing, they will remain permanently. I will be setting off the X-ray machines off at the airports;) It's amazing how youthful Dr. Walker looks for someone with such accomplishments.

He did his residency at the Minnesota Mayo Clinic! That's impressive. He was very kind and caring, addressing all my questions and concerns. I was a little surprised when I saw my X-ray the first time. I was surprised at the sheer size of those titanium rods. It's pretty shocking how large they are; one is from hip to knee and the other is from hip to other rod at top.

I had my first post-on appointment at ROC and I was pretty impressed with the facility even though it's 50 years old. There is a whole area for physical therapy and rehabilitation. This place is a well oiled machine and I hardly had to wait at all for my appointment. Dr. Walker is a excellent physician and did a Epic surgery on me, after only 4 weeks I am walking well, and barely need to use my cane. Wow after reading others reviews I feel blessed that I ended up with D. Walker as my surgeon. 5 stars!
