At Kentucky Eye Care, our board-certified doctors offer state-of-the-art services ranging from basic eye exams and laser vision correction to complex surgical procedures and the medical management of degenerative eye diseases. Thanks to advances in technology, we're able to treat eye problems and perform sophisticated eye surgery easier than ever before.
Macular Degeneration or Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is damage to the portion of the retina responsible for central vision. There are two forms of the disease, wet and dry. Wet Macular Degeneration is characterized by an abnormal growth of blood vessels beneath the retina that leaks blood and fluid, causing severe and sudden vision loss.
Eye care begins with a routine eye examination, regardless of your age or physical health. Because diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, elevated cholesterol, thyroid disease, and even certain medications can impact your vision and the health of your eyes, it's important to have an examination on a regular basis.

It was the middle of December and my other half suddenly discovered we had unused medical spending money. An overdue appt for me with the eye doctor was the perfect expense. I called and they were able to see me the following week, 12/21. (ONE STAR FOR SPEADY APPT.) The staff was busy, possibly overworked but quite cordial. (TWO STARS FOR CUSTOMER CARE.) The appointment went well other than I was only seeing 20/40 with my current prescription glasses.
Then again I can't see the broad side of a barn without them, let alone the t.v., a good book, or a restaurant menu. The opthamologist handled the second half the appointment after my eyes were dialated and made this part of the exam quite comfortable. (THREE STARS FOR EASE OF EXAM) Check out was also a breeze and a surprise. I was expecting to pay around $200. for the appoitment but was told my medical insurance would cover it due to a documented medical condition.
I only had a $20. copay. (FOUR STARS FOR KNOWING YOUR BILLING PROCEDURES AND THANK GOODNESS FOR HEALTH INSURANCE.) The fifth star is reserved for better selection on eye wear. I didn't even look because this is a small office and I knew I would have better luck at the Louisville location.
