I'm here with my Mother who has a fractured hip. She's been here since yesterday and we have not seen an orthopedic doctor or been given any information on when we might. The nurses are great. Seeing her in this much pain is not. UPDATE: We were able to get information. Both from within and from others. Never be afraid to voice your concerns with caregivers in a reasonable manner backed by, and insistent on, facts. I'd like to reiterate that our nurses are great, caring and very good listeners.

I have to say that my last review of this hospital was actually about a different hospital that I had mistaken for this one. This hospital has been very kind and caring to me. Two weeks ago I had to be admitted for a serious health condition and then came home a few days later. The ER nurses and doctors were amazing and attentive to my needs. I unfortunately had to come back earlier Monday because of some of my major health conditions.
The doctor and I had a hard time with communication at first but both saw where we got slipped up and everything went so well. My nurse Steve (same gentleman I had last time) is awesome. He's very straight to the point, stern and does his job phenomenally. I personally prefer the straightforwardness when it comes to my health care. I wasn't judged as other hospitals absolutely do and I felt safe.
Unfortunately you'll hear these health care workers being abused by some patients but I can assure you that it's not because they're doing anything wrong. I've had my run ins with bad health care workers and it's caused medical trauma for me but these people aren't in that bracket of health care work. Thank you for helping me and not jumping to assumptions just because of my medications. you guys took the time to find out why and showed me compassion. Alverado is my go to. If you're kind to them, they'll be kind to you.

My family was brought in from a car wreck and when I arrived the first thing they asked me was "Are you vaccinated" and the security guard said, "you need to put on a mask". The nurses seem compassionate but true compassion and paid compassion are two different things. 1st they legally can not ask you to disclose your vaccination status and as a hospital, they should know HIPPA Law when they ask me to violate willingly.
We sat there for 6hrs for an x-ray and ultimately watched 3 rooms walkout including ourselves making the 4th room to walk out because of the lack of care received. The nurses sat at their stands discussing dishwashers and other none related things and passing off their duty to other nurses who actually were making their rounds. There was a patient who clearly denied a form of care and instead, they got 4 nurses and security to force the care upon her and everyone in the ER listen to this lady scream, ouch I don't want that, get off of me" and other things. Giggly disappointing to say the least for a hospital.

I am completely TERRIFIED! Reading these reviews. I am considering canceling my surgery and waiting for a different hospital. Consider how ppl feel when reading your reviews Alvarado! How can someone feel comfortable coming in to have surgery at your facility let alone an emergency. Well I'm still here!3/14 Praise God! I changed my stars because of 1 amazing doctor and 4 outstanding nurses. Dr. Wittgrove you're Outstanding!
One of the prep nurses I talked her ear off because I was nervous, but she let me with a smile! Night nurse George kudos to you outstanding! Yes! I heard every single time you entered my room! Thank you for your kindness and taking such good care of me. I know it's your job but not everyone puts their heart in it! You're an ANGEL! God bless you! Morning nurse Suntia and Sarah thank you for taking such good care of me.

I regret sending my mother to this hospital when she needed oxygen due to having COVID. For starters, her driver license and insurance card were lost by this hospital. She spent a few days in the ER and was sent to their ICU without explaining to me why. When I finally tested negative for COVID I went to visit her, she was still conscious but telling me through the window that she was hungry.
The nurse at the time said she could not remove her mask because her oxygen level would drop. So why not use a nasal mask? I begged to be allowed in, I had COVID after my mother did, and I was willing to take the risk having just had it, they denied me. I wanted to ask her how she was being treated, I wanted to make sure she was okay or just tell her how much I loved her.
To hold her hand while she still knew I was there. Not too long after they called me at 5am to tell me they had to intubate her. She never saw light after this. Another two days later they called me to tell me her kidneys were failing, so they did dialysis overnight, apparently dialysis worked. The next day I get a call asking for permission to do a blood transfusion because she had a bleed, and that they couldn't locate it, I allowed it.
I told them to do everything they could to save her life. The next call was to tell me that she had multiple bleeds, that she was losing more blood than gaining it, and to go say goodbye. Yeah I suppose it was kind of them to allow her immediate family to go say goodbye to my unconscious mother, however I never got my closure. Why did she have multiple bleeds?
Why was I told that they couldn't locate the bleeds? She didn't have an autopsy so then why did DR. GANG BAO state on her death certificate that she had a GI bleed? And that her main cause of death was "multiple organ failure" when dialysis did it's part and she was receiving oxygen? My guess is they punctured her stomach while some doctor inserted a catheter or one many of the invasive procedures they did on her.
Can't remember the nephrologist's name but he was cold on the phone, he must not love his mother or still has one. Gang Bao also, very cold hearted. I strongly believe my mother died of doctor malpractice, not Covid. My advise is, don't bring your sick parent here.

I am very impressed with my care during my outpatient surgery at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center. I am typically anxious and I often pass out from receiving IV's but the admitting nurses Nancy and Danielle were truly kind and reassuring and I was able to tolerate it no problem. My anesthesiologist Dr. Palacios made the experience very smooth. I made a special request to Dr. Palacios so I could make it to my flight which was on the same day of surgery so I could recover at home. I was able to make it there alert thanks to him! I highly recommend outpatient surgery at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center.

My visit to the ER at Alvarado Hospital was pleasant, as ER visits go, and quite a surprise. Instead of spending hours in misery waiting at Grossmont, I was in a bed within 30 minutes. All the staff were very nice, all properly masked and quite competent in their given duties. Everyone was very responsive to my needs and I felt well cared for. The doctor assigned to my case was pleasant and efficient.
I received the proper aftercare instructions and prescriptions, all done in a timely manner Thanks to the Alvarado staff for getting me back home within a reasonable time and for being such good sports while spending the holiday working

My daughter was taken by ambulance to Alvarado hospital for possible covid. They put her in a wheelchair and sat her outside in the cold for a few hours. A person leaving saw her shivering and went inside and asked them to give her blankets. A nurse came out and very rudly told her if she wasn't having breathing problems or throwing up they would send her home. Thankful the tested her and found her not only dehydrated but her potassium was 2.3.
She received potassium iv and a nurse went in to see why she was crying and calling for help. The nurse said, omg he didn't delute the potassium. She got s new iv. Eventually, she was sent to Kaiser. I'm always disappointed with this hospital. She has now been Admitted in hospital for pneumonia but NOT at Alvarado.

About my trip to the ER at Alvarado hospital last Sunday morning. The woman who handled the insurance and took my co-pay was so sweet and kind. I can't thank her enough for the warm blanket. It really is the little things we humans do for each other that make a difference. It wasn't her job, but she did it with joy and compassion. I'm grateful.

Been to this hospitals ER and I can't say enough good words about this ER. Yes there are times they have a big wait line but it's very accurate to the Estimated wait time on their website. I LOVE the nurses here. They are so nice and make you feel very welcoming. The also helped me out with my health insurance. I can't thank the staff here enough for everything they have done for me.
