I saw Dr. Rivera throughout my entire pregnancy, which is why I feel I was able to have such a smooth delivery experience, as well as a comfortable pregnancy. Delilah has had some issues with reoccurring ear infections, and well as good sensitivities causing gas pains etc. I figured it was time to introduce Delilah to Dr. Rivera to see how he could help. Dr. Rivera was amazing with her.

She laid on my stomach, while gently assessed and adjusted her back and neck. She just relaxed the whole time and snuggled me. He found a couple area of concern in her neck, which is probably why she had reoccurring ear infections. He showed me how to gently massage these area while nursing or before bed. I would highly recommend seeing him if you are pregnant, have a little one or just need general chiropractic care. - Nichole

First time meeting him, Dr. Shapiro rolled in and ripped into his staff about the music. I cheerily defended "Oh, I love AC/DC". Shapiro then complained about his office space. I told him I thought it was nice and he explained that he is moving. Then he condescendingly said, "Oh, you are very red. Do you know what that is?" Staying friendly and positive, "Yes." He retorts, "Oh, well you seem like the type of person who is going to tell me how to do my job." He went into doing tests like "push against my arm", etc.

I was having trouble following his verbal instruction (I'm a visual learner). I joked, "I'm red, so I am bad at following directions." He said, "I know". He dragged me into a different room for scans, XRays, and tests. I explained that I have a very high deductible insurance and am nervous about extraneous costs. He was very salesy. He told me if I enrolled in one of his made up programs he could fix me over a year.

He adjusted me for like 1 minute in a 45 min appointment. Dr. Shapiro is very unprofessional and has a holier-than-thou attitude. Very narcissistic. I hope his young staff members and patients also realize they deserve to be treated better. Buh bye.

Dr Shapiro, The best period in the our area. Been going for 6years plus. I've tried many others. He has fixed me so many times. I've prob bothered him on occasion with all my bodily injuries. He locates the prob and fixes it. He works my back, elbow, wrist, hand and much much more. Most importantly my back pain is relieved and allows me to live how I want. There's nothing worse than being in pain all day, day after day. This guy has the flow and knows his craft very well. Example: Maintenance, sports, work.

I started seeing Dr. Shapiro in September. I've been dealing with symptoms from a herniated disc for over a year. Leg numbness, weakness and nerve pain. I was impressed with the original visit and evaluation. The X-rays, foot mapping and spinal temperature scan were new to me, but were explained well and showed where my problems were rooted. Visits to Dr. Shapiro are quick, but thorough. I still feel some lingering effects, but feel that I'm well on my way to recovering and will continue to see Dr. Shapiro in the future.

I went to Port City Chirropractic while traveling for work. When I arrived to them I could hardly stand up straight or walk for that matter. After the first visit I was feeling amazing, by my last visit before heading home from travel (7 visits in total) I am back to where I should be and pain free. The staff and Dr. Shapiro are extremely professional and very pleasant to have these experiences with. Highly recommend!

There are no words that describe the incredible difference Dr. Shapiro has made. I didn't believe it would happen. I went from literally having little to no use of my right arm and neck to back to my full life in no time. Still working towards 100% but 90% is pretty amazing!

The Port City Chiropractic team of Dr. Shapiro and Massage Therapist Christy are amazing! I didn't go with a highly intensive route but slowly Dr. Shapiro is relieving lower back and shoulder issues that I have. Christy has been an amazing massage therapist finding knots in my quads and shoulders I didn't even know existed. I've noticed a difference over the past few weeks and will continue to see both Shapiro and Christy!

I've been receiving chiropractic care at port city chiropractor for well over a year and a half now. It has definitely made a difference in my well-being. Recently, I decided to join my wife on a cleanse that was recommended by the in-house nutritionist, Sarah. This cleanse has been the first thing in a long time that has made me feel so much better and I've lost weight and dropped a pant size sooner than I expected. I am so glad that I went to see Dr. Shapiro and his marvelous staff, including Office Manager, Georgia and Massage Therapist, Lynne. The exam and x-rays explained so much about why my body has felt 'off' for many years. I've lived with neck, hip, low-back, and knee pain since my teens (I'm now 45), and by reviewing the scans with Dr. Shapiro I learned exactly where the trouble points are (a 'crook' in the upper spine at the sternum and a torque in the lower spine).

The adjustment Dr. Shapiro performed provided instant relief. But the life-changing aspect of my appointment came from a pair of orthotics. There's a lot of research about customized orthotics, and I recommend reviewing some of that literature. Orthotics are not inexpensive, and for some people, a simple store-bought pair might do the trick. They didn't for me.

Over the years I had tried one store-bought pair over another. These customized orthotics are made for each of the three arches of the foot and they 'trick' the brain into re-balancing. My left foot was carrying more than 56% of my weight, while my right foot was carrying just over 43%. The orthotics have balanced that percentage, and I feel a stunning difference.

It took me a bit to get used to them, but once I did, wow! After just over a week I was able to stand and walk at a festival for 12 hours with zero pain anywhere. None of the usual low-back aches. None of the knee aches. None of the neck aches. It was remarkable. And the next day, I felt none of the usual after-activity pains I have felt in the past. Visually, there is a benefit as well.

One shoulder has always been significantly higher than the other, and I would work hard (sometimes straining back muscles) to try to 'hold down' the higher of the two. When I'm wearing the customized orthotics, my shoulders naturally fall straight, and my upper-chest ribs that used to protrude no longer do. While this makes me feel more confident, it also has a physiological effect.

There is a lightness in my upper torso that I don't recall ever experiencing before. All that pressure from the crook and torque is gone. I am so grateful and hope that others will find this review helpful. There can be relief to long-lasting pain!

Great experience, had a misunderstanding about one thing and the office manager immediately made it better. Highly recommend their massage therapist. The one that worked with me was fabulous, she was able to address every area of concern and I walked out pain free for the first time in months.

No bueno! I was told over the phone they would honor the face value of my expired groupon for an current promotion, but when I came in Dr Shapiro changed his mind and was going to charge me full price. Not only that but I had wait in the front lobby for 15 minutes while he made his decision. He also blew right by me while I was waiting without so much as a how do you do.

Such a waste of my time. I've been getting chiropractic care since I was little and this office had the weirdest vibe, and no windows : Yuck. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

I paid for a 90 minute and got 55 minutes. Not only was my time shortened I was very unhappy with the service the therapist was talking to herself the whole time amongst some other very strange things it was the strangest experience and the worst massage.

Such a great find! You can feel the calm and relaxed environment when you first walk into the office. Dr. Shapiro is friendly, relaxed, honest and passionate about what he does. He takes the time to get to know you so he can provide the best course of action. Dr. Shapiro has been my chiropractor for several years and it has been wonderful to see his business grow and be able to offer more through his practice such as nutrition and massage. The monthly massage club is absolutely amazing and packaging this experience with an adjustment is marvelous. I can't wait for my massage this Thursday!

Very satisfied due to excellent office service. Lauren the secretary is professional and does a great service to this establishment. The doctor is very kind and informed. My mother had a massage here and enjoyed her experience. The office is clean and welcoming. It's not a spa, it's a doctor office, so don't expect a day spa atmosphere and you'll be pleased. Parking available in private meter lot right outside.

I won't be going back. He did not honor a pricing deal that was offered and during the course of our conversation, I got to see him in a much different light. He didn't even complete my chiropractic treatment that day. I could go on, but enough said!

I recently hurt my neck (no idea how) to the point where I had to call out of work sick. I couldn't turn my head, couldn't sleep, and something as simple as putting a sweatshirt on had me in tears. I just moved to the area and my health insurance hadn't kicked in at work yet, so I was expecting to have a difficult time finding a new chiropractor for an emergency visit and I was expecting a bill through the roof (X-rays, consultation, adjustment, and the endless follow ups I was sure would follow).

I called Port City in the middle of the night to leave a voicemail requesting to be seen. I got a return call by 8:30am that morning with an appointment scheduled. Dr Shapiro and his team stayed late on a Saturday helping me. I got an adjustment to help me through the weekend, a great 50 min massage, and an appointment scheduled that coming Monday for X-rays and a game plan for fixing my neck. Dr Shapiro called me over the weekend and gave me his cell phone # telling me to contact him if my neck got worse.

He walked me through my X-rays that Monday, and took his time answering my questions even though I knew he had to squeeze my appointment into his day. I felt completely better with little to no pain after their help and I paid under $100 for everything. As someone who works in medical billing, I will tell you that's crazy. You would expect the new patient treatment to be awesome, but not so much after saying you weren't sure how you were going to pay with no insurance. I will recommend this office to everyone. A very caring and professional office.

I have never been to a chiropractor before and decided to go and see what it was all about. After being in the military and owning my own construction business I have sustained many injuries over the years. There were times that I was in excruciating pain and just attributed it to a pulled muscle and never once thought a chiropractor could help with my pain.

I started going to Shawn at Port City Chiropractic and after about three to four weeks most if not all of my pain was gone. I see him now on a regular basis. I highly recommend Shawn if you are thinking about chiropractic care. If you only think that you have a pulled muscle it is worth it to see if it is actually a chiropractic issue. Again I am writing a review about Dr Shapiro and his office staff. He has been extremely generous and caring towards my family. Our twins have benefited from his experienced hands. Liam is now on his way to being a healthy boy in part because of the treatments from Port City. Charlie has severe asthma but every time he sees Dr Shapiro afterwards he is very healthy and sleeps much better.

In fact the last 2 times they saw him the fell asleep before getting to the car. My twins were preemies and had some medical issues. I am very protective of them since they lost their Mom (my daughter) when they were 3 months old.( now 19 months old) DR Shapiro is the type of person I trust completely with their care. The office is a non pretentious and caring environment. I would recommend Port City to anyone they wants to feel healthier.

My life has literally changed for the better. I strongly believe in the holistic way of living, so decided to try it out to reduce my stress and anxiety and back pain. The first adjustment was so cool, to see what Dr. S saw via my x-ray and stress scanner, was like a slap in the face, in the best of ways. I couldn't lie and say oh yea I am a little stressed, HELLO my numbers were off the charts!

We proceeded to my adjustment, which I was nervous about but it felt amazing. As a matter of fact, after my neck I could not control it and started to cry! The release was incredible. Dr. S was comforting and made sure I was okay to walk out. I continued to go, and when I had a disc injury, he allowed me to come 2 times daily to work with me and what do you know, he actually fixed me!

I now refer to him as Mr. magic hands. He isolated my lumbar section as he swiveled my discs back into place; I could not believe it. No need for a "regular" Dr. or specialist! If you have any ailment at all, don't just consider calling, CALL NOW. It will change you life. Always 2 thumbs up from me!

I walked into the office, barley able to move. I was greeted by very friendly reciptionists and quickly brought to the back. This is where I met Dr. Shapiro, a very no nonsense, direct to the point professional. He immediately started to work on pain management so that he could further diagnose the problem. I had never been to a chiropractor before this past week. I was moving furniture and hurt my back and 4 days later it wasn't getting any better. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't focus - work was so uncomfortable and the drive from Dover to Portsmouth was painful. Then, I had an appointment with Dr. Shapiro. I was immediately made comfortable in his office by his staff (thanks Amy!) and am well on my way to getting better.

I can now work, drive and enjoy life much better than I could just days ago. Dr. Amanda is great as well and Victoria who provided an incredible massage this morning. I really like the holistic and complete approach taken at Port City Chiropractic. Thanks for making me better!
