Services
Recently, our practice name changed from The Counseling Center of New England to LifeStance Health. With this change, we aligned our brand with our parent company, a national leader in mental, behavioral, and emotional wellness. LifeStance Health connects more than 3,000 mental health professionals with millions of patients across 26 states, each with the same goal in mind: improving the lives of the extraordinary people we serve.
When traditional methods for treating depression do not work or a patient cannot tolerate them, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can help. In many cases, genetic testing can supplement clinical information to help guide treatment decisions. LifeStance Health provides a variety of therapeutic groups, where we intend to foster emotional growth using different styles of therapy.
Upon completing this online form, a member of our intake team will contact your patient within 24-48 hours to confirm the appointment. To assist you in educating your patients about the services we offer, we have also created an information sheet. This can be easily printed to provide your patients with information about our practice.
Here at the Counseling Centers of NH we have over 90 providers to provide specialized care to our patients. We strongly believe that all of our employees are what sets us apart from the others. We are always on the look out for amazing talent to help our patients and providers. With a large administration team, providers can focus more on our patients.

I never got past the intake process but could tell from my interactions with the administrative staff that these are not people who care. Indifferent, and connected me to an extension that had a full mailbox. I called back and she said "oh we have 3 intake lines, I'll transfer you". I was transferred to an extension that only to me to go online and register for a first appointment.

I did this but when I attempted to upload an image of my insurance card it would not let me proceed to the next stage. I tried again on a different computer and had the same issue. I called the counseling center back and again got the " full mailbox " message after listening to their vacuous recording. If the doctors are as uncaring as the staff. I've decided to NOT find out.

Now known as lifstance health, the only change is that they somehow got worse at being helpful. They cancel appointments and then charge you for them as if it was a first appointment and somehow your fault. You can point this out and they will acknowledge that it was a mistake on their part, and then they'll bill you anyway. You may not be able to get a hold of someone if you need them.

They left me hang for an entire week without meds only to find out on a Friday before a holiday, that my Dr isn't comfortable prescribing the same meds I've been taking for years. They told me that I have to start over with a new Dr that they will assign sometime after the holiday. You should find another provider, this place is a mess that you can definitely live without.

I'd give zero stars if I could. Since this company took over, it has been impossible to contact my son's therapist's office for any questions, calling back or making appointments. The billing is horrendous. They bill you before the insurance company processes your claim, so they are OVER billing you. Good luck contacting the billing department as well! I've complained to my insurance company and the therapist, who we do like, and she can do nothing about any of this.

I have been a patient for over a year recently I lost my insurance. I was willing to pay cash until my new insurance picked up. Here's the problem. When I was insured the billing department billed my insurance $160 for a counseling appointment. Now without insurance they want to bill me $290. When I contacted the billing department they said it was because of the way my counselor billed the visit.

What she didn't know is that even though I am no longer insured they still send me a benefit letter if the insurance company is billed. Sure enough, as I thought, this was a big fat lie. I wouldn't bother going to a mental health facility that is this untrustworthy and unethical. The Counseling is in it for the money at all cost and not their patient's well-being just like the big business they are!

Business built for making money, not helping people. Ridiculous cancellation charges, staff is miserable and unprofessional. I called to ask if I was able to stop a medication and was charged $50 for a 2 minute phone call. (My copay is less than half that for an actual appt) My doctor told me to my face he would have the charge removed since I wasn't told I'd be charged. Received the bill for it a week later anyway. Never going there again and I advise you not to either.

One more one star review. Another complaint about the terrible intake. This theme goes back to at least 2014. They are not going to get better, are they? Two weeks of their nonsense and I gave up. I only wish I'd read these reviews first. If care is like administration, then patients are in serious trouble. Don't risk your health. Stay away. You've been warned.

They screen for people without mental health problems. I moved and needed a new psychiatrist and psychologist, and online these doctors had good reviews. However when I called to try to schedule an appointment I was met with a screening process that informed me that because I felt suicidal they would not see me as a patient. They also did not refer me to any other resources.

A year later and I still was looking for a psychiatrist (found the psychologist) and called them again. This time I am not suicidal, but since I called previously with suicidal ideation they refused to schedule me. It is deplorable that they refuse to help people who need it. Believe all the other one star reviews that you read, they are that bad and this place should be shut down or at least have counseling taken out of their name. Maybe they don't have doctors there, because what type of actual doctor would want to affiliate with a place like this.

I'm giving 5 because the doctors know their stuff. They are great. Problems here are organizational. The communication system is confusing and complicated and antiquated. The docs ARE WORTH your inevitable patience. Hang in there. You'll get your needs met eventually by this fabulous staff. It's not their fault they have an insanely stupid com system. I've been dealing w it for a couple years now.

I didn't even get past the intake process. They called and as soon as I said I had Tufts (which is listed as an accepted insurance) the woman goes "Oh, we only reserve so many spots for Tufts members and those are booked. Try calling backing in a couple weeks." This tells me they only want to take people who's insurance have a higher contracted rate.

You either take my insurance, or you don't. I called another provider and while I'm not booked until May, at least I have the peace of mind to know that I have an appointment somewhere. Don't waste your time with these people. They care about $$$ and not your actual well being.

Would give no stars if I could. Avoid this place if you can. The hoops and mazes required to even make an appointment are pure Machiavelli. This requires making an online reservation to receive a phone call (in 2-3 days)to make an assessment to see if a clinician should call you back (in 4-5 days).A loved one went through this process over the course of 2 WEEKS only to be TURNED AWAY.

The reason given was because she did not have insurance even though she was initially told she could be self-pay and was willing to pay UPFRONT. Folks say they go here because of the great doctors. Maybe true, but there are lots of great doctors out there. Do not support these shoddy business practices with your hard earned insurance.

Agree with the consensus here. I feel my needs are met by the practitioners but the front of the house folks, admins, billing, appointments etc needs to be nuked from orbit and rebuilt. No appointment reminders when you are scheduling meetings 3-4 months out and then charging late fees is just a predatory practice. Admit that - own it. Also - if they need to change an appointment last minute that is your problem however, If you need to make a last minute change.$$$$$ Sorry your time is NOT more valuable than mine.

I love the counselor I was seeing and she might actually be able to help me, maybe, but the office staff feels disorganized. I've been told to pay over $200 because I 'owed' money from my last visit even though I paid for my visit to the psychiatrist and counseling the Friday before. I left it alone to contact the billing department who then told me that no, in fact I owed much less than that and only for the visit I'd gone to that day.

A week later I then received a bill in the mail with yet another amount even though I'd paid a the amount billing told me I owed. With finances being a part of the stress triggers for my depression one can obviously see how this made me feel that the staff kept changing how much I owed. On top of that I was billed for an hour with the psychiatrist and got only a half hour of his time because apparently the other half hour is spent on my paperwork. This seems ridiculous considering it felt like he did very little to address my concerns.

Don't bother with this group if you need help. A loved one, who has been suicidal, and has two insurances and is struggling with mental health issues was told that their case was too difficult to be seen by this center. What? Let's not bother helping people. Shame on you. They will get help elsewhere. By an agency that cares. I give ZERO stars.

People you love deserve better. Oh and owner of this center? Don't bother answering me. If you have people that you care for - how would you feel if this was told to you.

HORRIBLE! Such a terrible intake process that I never actually got to anyone who could help me. AVOID THEM!

Don't even bother. Intake was a huge, drawn out, extremely difficult process. Everyone I talked to was rude, judgmental, and completely insensitive. Good thing they're not dealing with people in dangerous and vulnerable situations, right? When I finally jumped through all their hoops they told me I'd have to wait 4 days to get a call back. It's been over 2 weeks now, and not a word. I found another doctor somewhere else, and you should too. They don't care here, it's just a paycheck to them.

This is a re-review by "Austin H." I am completely and amazingly in opposition of anything that I was written in my previous review from years ago. Under the new, caring, watchful and beautiful eyes of Jade (who is newly the boss in the office) she has turned a 180 (degree) from what I had hated so much. The girls in the office are cheery, ready and clearly anticipating challenges which they are willing to help with and fix for clients.

This review is 6 months over due in fact, so I'm positive that the 5 stars not only reflects the help I received 6 months ago when I was at the lowest point dealing with a new pharmacy, new insurance and more issues than I expected to resolve. Jade herself made my well being feel like her highest priority as well as influenced the entire staff to become a group of joyful, respectful and SMILING group.

I truly enjoy entering a once unbearable place now and know that if I'm in need of help I will receive help and be satisfied. I apologize to any of the staff who was working back during my first review and hope you (reader) take this as an accurate and updated review.

I had a great session with a doctor, but sadly I had to pay $146 out of pocket because my deductible hasn't been met as of right now. Is that the fault of The Counseling Center? Absolutely not! I spoke to Aetna who told me that their fee is *obscenely high* compared to other offices in the state. I can agree with this because I have seen other doctors and I have never been slapped with such a bill for one session - I did speak with someone in billing and (her words, verbatim) "If your insurance company allows us to charge you that amount, we will charge it, even if we charge another company less - if yours will allow it, we will charge it." I ended the conversation and told her greed and health don't mix.

And asked to have the next two appointments I had booked cancelled. Beware of a business that specializes in care/concern for people, but has no problem admitting they are really just in it for the money.

Very poor communication between the different departments You never receive a return phone call. The front desk ppl stop answering the phones so you can not cancel an appointment in time. When the charge is waved by the dr it is never noted in your file. The billing people never return phone calls. For four months I have been trying to fix this problem, because I pay out of pocket, have a weeks worth of medication and I'm told still I have to pay over 200$ just to see my dr for fifteen minutes.

The office staff is HORRIBLE. I'm calling them every month to correct screw ups on one child or the other's account. For example, they billed the wrong provider name to my insurance back in January causing the insurance company to call two visits out of network and STILL have not fixed it. (Thanks for calling me back on ANY of the 6 TIMES I've called. Bob) They also failed to cash a payment from my HSA within the two month window they had to cash it and then had the gaul to tell me the HSA had insufficient funds. NOT.

The HSA is actually looking out for my well being by putting a 60 day expiration date on the debt payments. too bad TCCON is that darn slow. Of course, the statement they sent me asking for double what they are actually owed from letting that payment expire didn't list the correct appointments on it either. This place seems to do more to cause anxiety and depression than they do to cure it.

Condescending people who are not actually interested in helping people who need it. If you have any sort of complication you will not pass the intake. Please keep your mental illnesses to a minimum.

Very disappointed with care my son receives here. Too interested policy, rules and collecting fees versus caring for patients. If I was the one with issues I would have chosen to give up and go without treatment long ago. Learned today I may be charged an additional $35 to get a prescription refilled because I had to reschedule an appointment. The rule is that a patient must be seen every 2 months(note-son is doing great now which is always the case-Other provider had him on a 3 month visit schedule with no issue) An attempt was made to reschedule within the requested time so as not to penalized but there were no available appointments.

The original appointment was set in the summer when school schedule was not known and call was made to office in late August in an attempt to be in compliance. How is it that I am penalized because the doctor did not have an appointment available when it worked for my son. Disrupting a child that is doing well or taking him out of school for the doctor's convenience makes no sense.

I have had five appointments with one of their therapists for severe depression, and felt we were making progress; BUT when I arrived for my latest scheduled appointment, she told me she could not see me because of $128 in unpaid co-payments. I was never informed that I was responsible for co-pays with my insurance, as I don't with my other doctors.

Never got a bill, never got an email reminder: just turned away from a much needed session. This is unacceptable in a practice that purports to treat people in crisis. It was extremely upsetting and so unnecessary. This outfit seems more interested in making money than in practicing medicine. Not recommended.

There are some great doctors here, but I get the feeling that it is unorganized. You meet in different offices, and the secretaries charge different amounts and they seem frazzled. The interior decor is awful and the bathroom is disgusting. Spend some of the money on making the offices and waiting areas inviting and calming. I find the atmosphere to be like an assembly line and unpleasant. Don't be so cheap. It is obvious that the clients convenience is not a priority. Come on, get with it folks!
