Back in April, I formally announced my retirement from plastic surgery, after more than 42 years of practice. My staff - Donna, my Operating and office nurse, and Charlotte, my wife and Office Manager - and I have thoroughly enjoyed caring for our patients all these years.

At the practice of Mark B. Constantian, MD, FACS, we specialize in primary rhinoplasty and secondary rhinoplasty, but also offer a wide range of other procedures. People visit our Nashua office from Boston, Massachusetts, and beyond because of Dr. Constantian's cosmetic surgery expertise and dedication to superior patient care.
You may wonder why we perform all rhinoplasties closed when so many surgeons use the open approach instead. Imagine that you know nothing about either operation, but that the open method has been the traditional rhinoplasty technique, instead of the other way around. The scars are visible and not always good, recovery is significant, the tip must be supported by artificial means (struts or sutures), and many of the changes are created by non-anatomic methods, and the less experienced surgeon does not have precise control over the result.
Mark B. Constantian, MD, FACS has lived and practiced in the Nashua, New Hampshire area as a plastic surgeon since 1978. He is a native of Massachusetts where his father and great-grandfather practiced medicine. Dr. Constantian is a graduate of Columbia College, and received his Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree from Dartmouth Medical School and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
The patient who has never undergone surgery has advantages over the patient who has already had several nasal operations. The skin is not scarred, the skeleton is present and easier to examine, and the nasal septum, whether deviated or not, is present and provides excellent building material to reshape the external nose if that is needed.

The surgery caused so many infections that I had to undergo a few months of antibiotic treatments. I went temporally blind and deaf as my body was shutting down. Doctors didn't think I was going to make it and I was accepting death. I did not have treatment for the first month after surgery because Dr. Constantian was in denial and blamed me. The professionals at the hospital informed me that the infections I had could not have been from anything I've done and solely on the surgery. Thankfully, I am alive today. Discussing appearance, my nose is interesting looking to say the least and sometimes people ask me what is wrong with my nose. It breaks my heart to say I truly trusted him and believed he was the best surgeon. Sadly, from my experience that was not the case.

Dr Constantian botched my surgery 23 years ago - he did not reconnect all my blood vessels, and I had to come back 2 days later. Consequently I lost a massive amount of tissue, sensation, and more. I have had to have FIVE additional surgeries to try to fix his mistakes, as well as tattooing and skin grafting. Two of the doctors I went to for reconstructive work - to take care of the mistakes Dr C made - blatantly told me that he did "shitty work" and they were sorry. I would never recommend Dr Constantian to anyone.he is a sad representation of plastic surgeons.

Dr. Constantian and his team are the most wonderful and caring people I've ever met. Constantian himself was the last person I saw before my surgery and the first person I saw upon waking up. He and his team answered all of my questions in depth and were quick to reassure me if I had any doubts about anything regarding the process itself, how to pay for it, etc. Dr. Constantian is a fantastic surgeon, and is very passionate about his practice. I am more than thrilled with my results!

I don't believe that there is a more skilled and compassionate surgeon on the planet. I will always be grateful to Dr. Constantian for his extraordinary efforts to restore my appearance after I suffered for years from a severely botched surgery by another physician. This is a man who cares deeply about his patients, who obtained results for me that other physicians told me would be impossible to obtain, and whose staff shares his empathy and kindness for his patients. He is everything that a doctor should be and more. Highly recommend.

If you are considering rhinoplasty and are searching for the best doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Constantian. He was referred to me by a plastic surgeon 10 years ago that said for my difficult case, Dr. Constantian would be the best plastic surgeon in the U.S. This was after I visited three plastic surgeons that would not take my case. I was born without nasal cartilage, and through the years, I had six surgeries to correct the problem.
Each time, the plastic or bone slipped and my nose was wide and crooked. During my first visit, Dr. Constantian explained that he would use my rib bone, as he needed more to work with than my ear cartilage would provide. It would be an improvement, but I would most likely need a second surgery to increase the tip and narrow my nostrils. He said there was a possibility that the rib could curl or slip after a while.
That was ten years ago and over time, my nose again looked crooked with a bump. I returned to Dr. Constantian to ask what he could do to fix my nose. He explained that he would decide at the time of surgery if he needed more rib or could use ear cartilage. I totally trusted his skill and judgement. Dr. Constantian reshaped the original rib bone and inserted cartilage from my ear.
Now my nose is straight with narrow nostrils, a nice tip, looks symmetrical, and I can breath well through my nose. It now looks normal! I am thrilled to recommend Dr. Constantian and his staff. They treated me with professionalism and respect; like a friend. I also appreciate that he does his operations in a hospital. Dr. Constantian is a well-respected, skilled, dedicated, seriously brilliant plastic surgeon.

Finding Dr. Constantian to help me through extensive reconstruction of my nose after removal of cancer certainly proved to be very good fortune, indeed. Because of the degree of tissue removed, I required a rebuild of the nose involving a living graft, a forehead flap reconstruction.a series of surgeries over many weeks. Dr. Constantian gave me the straight story from the beginning, gave me all the tools to make informed decisions and he helped me find my courage to go through all the phases. Dr. Constantian has an approach that's always professional, but at the same time he's warm, human, encouraging and kind.
My results are exceptional. I have a nose! When I first appeared at Dr. Constantian's office I had a deep cavern in the middle of my face! The first time I saw what is called "the deficit" that the cancer surgeon had left for Dr. Constantian to repair, I was in his office. He dealt with my utter shock and dismay. Through out this demanding period I always felt supported, cared for, and safe with Dr. Constantian.
In addition to technical skill and an aesthetic sense, this doctor brings real heart to his practice. His nurse, Donna rounds out the team. Both of these people literally held my hand. Dr Constantian and his staff were excellent! Everyone was friendly, professional, with a great bedside manner. This was important to me as I was extremely nervous to go into surgery again. Dr Constantian fixed my botched nose job from 15 years ago. At the time my nose was still deviated with uneven nostrils and cartilage on the sides. Almost 2 years later now I can say I'm thrilled with my new nose.
Its straight, symmetrical with a refined tip! Exactly the results I was hoping for. He really listened to all of my concerns and goals for the surgery. And the best part of all. I can finally breath out of both nostrils. I just wished I had done this sooner!

Dr. Constantian completely fixed the horrible nose job that I had previously went through. I had a deviated septum where the previous doctor destroyed all the cartilage in my nose. Dr. Constantian knew I was extremely hesitant to go through the surgery again, but he reassured me constantly and made sure I was comfortable before going into surgery.
Not only did he fix my deviated septum but was able to complete reconstructive plastic surgery on my nose and made it look incredible. I highly recommend him and cannot thank him enough!

Due to an accident I had to have a rhinoplasty and septoplasty at a very young age (around fifth grade). As I got older and started to grow, my nose started to grow crooked. After many years of searching for a doctor that would do a revision rhinoplasty, I was lucky to have been recommended to Dr. Constantian. Dr. Constantian was extremely kind during the consultation and walked me through everything he thought he could do to make my nose be functional and cosmetically how I wanted it to be.
I'm happy to say that my nose is perfectly straight and I've never been so happy and confident in how my nose turned out. I can't thank him enough for the dedication he put in to me and creating a better version of myself. I would definitely recommend Dr. Constantian to anyone looking for a revision rhinoplasty!

Dr. Constantian is an extremely skilled surgeon who stands out as one of the most honest and transparent doctors in his field. Dr. C and his staff are always compassionate, consistently going above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and secure. I suffered a lot of damage from a past open rhinoplasty and Dr. C was able to make a huge difference after just 1 surgery.
The below negative reviews are really hard for me to believe - he's always been very respectful and kind to me - I come out of every appointment feeling like I have a whole other family who's looking out for me. I think he sees a lot of severe cases from people who've been through hell and have been burned by doctors whom they trusted and there's only so much that can be done, however, if you're considering having this surgery done, Dr. C is your safest and smartest choice.
