All our dermatologists are also trained dermatologic surgeons. Alta Dermatology was founded in 1983 by Dr. Stephen Kessler, a board-certified dermatologist.

At Alta Dermatology, we are trained to handle the full range of possible skin conditions, both adult and pediatric. We offer a wide array of medical procedures and services, from general dermatology to dermatologic surgery to patient education and skin-cancer prevention. We are dedicated to the overall health and appearance of our patients' skin.
At Alta Dermatology, we deal with cosmetic surgery procedures on a case-by-case basis. For non-invasive cosmetic procedures, such as Botox, Sculptra, and Juvederm, please visit our sister clinic, the Image Skin Institute, which is conveniently located next door to Alta Dermatology.

My son saw Dr. Sawyer (whom we liked very much). We were told the prescription would be good for a year, which was critical to us since my son was leaving for school and might need refills while he was away. Now Dr. Sawyer has left that office, and guess what.a full 6 weeks before the year is up and Alta will not honor the prescription promise. So now my son is out of town with no prescription refill. Dr. Kessler did not care in the least. "Make another appointment, " I was told. (In short: pay us again.) I wish Google let me rate zero stars.

This place is under new management and has gone downhill quick. The front office was always horrible, they lost their best doctor and the new doctors are horrible. Avoid this place at all costs.

I agree with all of the other reviews that the front office in this staff are the worst I have ever seen in the medical profession. Rude and unconcerned. Doesn't seem like they want to be working here.

I'm not sure why they will not answer the telephone. I left a message several times yet no return call until days later! I always had a good experience with Dr. Kessler before he retired. Everyone at Alta provided great service and care. I'm not so sure now, since they seem so overwhelmed, they won't even answer the telephone so a person can make an appointment! I won't go back!

Very efficient, well organized clinic. Staff is professional but friendly. Dr. Sawyer explains what type of lesions you have and treats appropriately.

Doctors and staff have been courteous and professional during every visit. Not sure why all of the negative reviews regarding staff and scheduling, but i have never had an issue and have been helped right away every time i have called or made an office visit. A pleasure to deal with!

I have been to this office a few times over the years and liked the doctors but I have left 3 messages over the past week for scheduling and can't get a call back. There is no option other than leaving a message to schedule. Unfortunately I will have to find a new office.

I have been a patient for many years. After leaving messages and not getting a return phone call, I went into the office to set up an appointment. I had to wait about 10 minutes to get the appointment set up. There were only three patients in the office waiting, so it didn't seem too busy to answer phone calls. I think the staff is totally unconcerned about patients. Dr Kessler is currently NOT seeing any patients, so you have to choose another doctor - which there are at least three.

This office needs an EFFECTIVE office manager to address lack of getting back to patients who leave messages. Maybe when patients quit calling and choose another dermatology office the doctors will recognize that the office staff has driven away business.

I have been a patient here for many years. After today's experience, I will be looking for a different dermatologist. The front office staff are unprofessional and rude. When it comes to insurance, I know what I have, what my insurance covers, and what valid insurance is. I also know the receptionist should not alter documents after I have signed them. But she did. Save your time and find a doctor with pleasant staff.

I called one week ago for an appointment. Recording said to leave my phone number for a return call. Did not get return call. Called again the following week, the recording kept pushing their Botox and Skin Care Institute. Again I left my phone number for a call back. Did not get a return phone call. Called at 4:30 on Friday afternoon and they said they were closed, however in that recording they stated THEY ARE OPEN UNTIL 5! Tracy and her assistant are excellent and I cant complain about them, but I think I will be looking for another dermatologist. I have been using them for at least 18 years, maybe more and am extremely disappointed in that office. They have gone down hill.

We see Dr. Meghan at Alta Dermatology and she is great. My husband and I feel very comfortable having her as our doctor. She is very thorough and has a great bedside manner. We highly recommend her as a dermatologist.

The staff and especially Dr. Megan Goff Davidson are compassionate, considerate and professional. My husband and I constantly refer family and friends to her. We are grateful to have found Alta Dermatology for our skin health care.

The front office of this practice is horrible! They never answer their phones. I have been trying for 2 weeks to reschedule an appointment with Dr. Davidson. I waited on hold for about 30 minutes a couple of times. Finally left a message for them to call me back. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard back from them. Just left a final message to cancel the appointment and that I'm going to another practice.

My family has been seeing Dr. Davidson since we moved to AZ 15 years ago. She is excellent, but not worth dealing with the front office nightmare! They must be trying to get rid of her customers.

I had a 2:30 appointment. Arrived on time and then sat and waited for over an hour. Watched as the 12 chairs in the room filled and emptied three times. When there were four people left, I finally got up and asked if I had been forgotten. The girl informed me that the doctor was running behind. I feel the appropriate thing would have been for them to tell me this 30 minutes earlier and offer to reschedule.

Instead a snotty medical assistant came out and said, "I'll take you back, but you need to realize that there are two people sitting in exam rooms waiting for the doctor." This meant I had at least another 30 minutes to wait. She became very condescending and started talking to me like I was three years old. That was enough. I got up, walked out, and will NEVER go back.

As I was sitting I overheard the girl scolding another lady for being six minutes late and didn't know if they would be able to keep her appointment. The doctor is an hour plus behind and she was scolded. The rudeness was overwhelming.

This office is the most unprofessional medical office I have ever dealt with. Made an appointment with them showed up on time on the date they gave me 2 weeks before. Guess what they had scheduled me an additional 2 weeks later and did not tell me. Prior to driving to their office I called in twice to verify my date and time. Spent 20 min on hold the first time and over 30 the second time. No one ever answered. This is the rudest and inconsiderate medical office I have ever dealt with. My advice, go somewhere else these people are just plain awful.

I went for a yearly checkup and saw the PA, Tracy. Good communications before the appointment, I like the portal and that I could fill out all the paperwork at home (would have preferred to do everything on the portal, but it's a start!) Normal wait time, maybe 15 minutes, and another thing I appreciated is the person who brought me in went over my chart immediately instead of making me sit and wait for someone else. Tracy came in just a few minutes later and again, I loved that she gave me options and then immediately proceeded to do the procedures that we decided on, instead of the usual in and out most medical facilities make you deal with. Tracy is very personable and positive, it was a pleasure to meet her and the staff. Good recommendations on skin care products and after care.

I recently had an issue with a skin rash that appeared on my face and hands. Dr. Davidson provided me with a medication and a topical gel that substantially reduced the rash. When the rash returned after the prescription ended, Dr. Davidson saw me in a follow up appointment and took excellent care of me. She gave me an ongoing prescription for the topical gel and a back up prescription for the medication if the rash became severe again in the future. Dr. Davidson is highly knowledgeable and very caring. I totally recommend her.

I'm an established patient. Just wanted to know if there was an appointment available between a certain timeframe. Verified my insurance was the same, then wanted member numbers. I said I just wanted to know if there was an appointment available, do you need all this information to just tell me that? Was not a pleasant person to talk to. NO, SHE NEEDED ALL THIS INFO JUST TO TELL ME IF THERE WAS AN AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT. Told her I'd call back with that info. Not sure I'll be calling back. Love doctor Sawyer, not his front office staff.

Absolutely the WORST staff you will ever deal with. They are rude, unprofessional and have zero clue how to deal with the public. The staff actually hung up the telephone on us when we attempting to confirm an appointment. They literally act as if you are not important and you are wasting their time. We were not notified to arrive early for paperwork.

We kept the appointment time and arrived 5 minutes early only to be scolded by the receptionist. The lady very rudely informed that she was cancelling the appointment because they didn't have time to process the file.? The appointment was 330 arrived she arrived and signed in at 325. All insurance had already been called in at the time the appointment was made and this wasn't the first visit.

She had a surgical procedure removing skin cancer there before. There should be no need to act that way towards anyone. Not to mention the lobby was full and they obviously were not going to get us in by 330. The receptionist is rude and mean spirited and cancelled the appointment. We waited for a long time for this appointment again for the treatment of skin cancer.

We were early even though when we called and were hung up on they didn't tell us anything about needing time to process a file. I absolutely hate that this lady will keep her job because this behavior is systemic to this entire organization. This place is awful! UPDATE- No Kristina, this isn't some ploy by competitors to make Alta look bad.

They do that on their own pretty well. In fact one could say you have ties considering you wrote yours within minutes of them reading my post on another social media page, and this would make your second 5 star review for them. The above REALLY HAPPENED, snd now we are faced with finding a new Doctor to remove her skin cancer. Good day.

Surprised some of the negative reviews. Dr. Kessler is extremely professional and his staff have been very friendly to us. My 89 year old father had two basal cell growths removed using the MOHS procedure. Dr. Kessler told us that he has performed over 30,000 of these! We NEVER had a scheduling problem and our wait times were reasonable.

Super disappointed in the staff here. I had to book my appointment a month in advance, and then they wait till im there for my appointment to tell me that they do billing up front, and they expect you to pay in full as opposed to billing insurance first. I go to a lot of doctors due to a chronic illness I have, and with my insurance have never had even a copay due at the time of the appointment.

I spoke in great lengths to the gal making my appointment as to what I was expecting to have done, and not once did she mention that they billed up front. When I brought this up to the staff up front they claimed that they always informed patients of this when making appointments, and said it was also in their voicemail reminder. This was actually completely false.

I still have the voicemail, in fact, it's an automated message, and no where did it mention billing. Unfortunately I am not the kind of person who has over $100 randomly laying around. I was planning on getting billed after insurance, and using my HSA account to pay the bill next week. So I waited over a month for an appointment that I couldn't even have due to the lack of communication by the staff.

I also felt it was super unprofessional for the staff up front to lie about their voicemail trying to claim that I should have known about the billing. I've been to this place before over three years ago, and I did not have to pay up front. I understand that things may have changed, but the gal scheduling my appointment knew this, and still did not say anything.

So I won't ever be going back here due to the staff's lack of communication, and lying instead of taking responsibility for their screw up. I don't need to go to a place that treats their patients like that.

Just know, if you have an appointment here you will wait FOREVER before you are seen, if at all. I've been here lobby packed full of elderly, I wait. Today, no one in the lobby, literally, 1 other person waiting, I waited 40 minutes before I had to let Front Desk know that it wasn't going to work today me just sitting like at DMV :

If I could give less than a star I would. I wanted to see Dr. Sawyer who has been highly recommended to me for years. I tried to see him almost 3 years ago. My first encounter I was newly married and insurance was through my dad. My name had not been changed on his insurance, but I provided all the identification and paperwork. I even brought my marriage license.

After filling out new patient paperwork and waiting 45 minutes I was told they wouldn't see me. I thought I'd give the office another shot so I made another appointment. It takes AT LEAST 3 weeks to be seen. For the second time I was not able to be seen. I received a call from Jolene saying both of my insurances were showing up as primary.

This is an issue I've been battling for a year. I was told to call them and let secondary know there was a primary. Well long story short i was transferred and disconnected. So I called back asking if I could just pay my primary insurance co pay. Worst case scenario is that they would owe me. NOPE. They wanted to pay the fee of no insurance to be seen. Now, I work in the insurance business and this is ridiculous.

At this point, I already paid my babysitter and was on my way. I was able to find another office that had a same day appointment. I'm sure Dr. Sawyer is Wonderful but his office staff is AWFUL. Don't waste your time.
