HPA and its professional staff participate in teaching programs for medical students, and some day for pediatric residents. Harlingen Pediatrics Associates (HPA) is dedicated to restore, preserve, and enhance good health in the children and families of our community. HPA continues to work collaboratively with other physicians, agencies, and schools in accomplishing that aim. With the Regional Academic Health Center, HPA and its professional staff participate in teaching programs for medical students, and some day for pediatric residents.
We make every effort to keep down the cost of medical care. As a courtesy to our patients, our office participates with numerous insurance companies and managed health care programs. If you are a member of one of these plans, your claim will be submitted by our Business Office on your behalf. If we do not participate in your Network plan, you will be responsible for payment at the time of service. It is the parent's responsibility to pay any deductible, co-payment, or any non-covered charges at the time of the visit.

Do not like the service provided here. Anytime anything is wrong with my son they're no help. He's had a rash for months now I always address to them and show them and they never do anything about it. I've been asking for months now for my son to see a specialist and they never transfer me. The front desk as well can be pretty rude and not helpful. Would definitely not recommend this pediatrics to anyone.

Terrible terrible staff in the front. The only good thing is the Doctors. Staff is rude, unprofessional, unwelcoming and seems a lot of people are having this issues. This needs to get addressed soon!

I've taken all my children here. My oldest now being 21. I have always loved the Drs. and always recommend it here. Highly recommend Dr. Papilla.

We have been with HPA for almost 8 years. The front desk clerks have improved their customer service skills and their response times can be better. Cleanliness is kept up. All my children see Dr. Hinajosa. She is our preferred pediatrician. Highly recommend Dr. Hinajosa.

In shock with all the bad reviews! Please if you find a better office post it*we have been going to hpa since my daughter was born, she's almost 10.2 days ago we went for regular checkup and the nurse Ashley was so rude& rushing since we got there, so when she took my daughter to the room to check her hearing I follow and she closed the door on me, I told her why was she being so rude and that she better treat my daughter better, her excuse "were busy "they NEED to take the time with each patient.

Daughter was going to get her flu shot/diabetes test, they told that was new rules from insurance to check for diabetes. I didn't want Ashley put the shot on my daughter, now we have to wait for another app. with a different doc. I call to make a complaint and the lady said she was going to check her side of the story. I told her that this was my daughter doc.

Since born and she asked me "you haven't had any issues before" NO, I haven't!.idk if she think I was making this up, but lady believe me I have no time to be wasting and what would I win with this?! I really hope she does talk to her and not cover each other's back like most do! Guess they have to loose patients for them to be able to handle the situation/take the time that's necessary to explain and to change their horrible, unprofessional attitude!

This place has gone downhill in the past couple of months. The Doctors are great don't get me wrong it's the rest of the staff that just sucks. You can not speak to anyone on the phone because it goes straight to voicemail. I was told only ONE person answers the phone for that entire office. I don't know if this is true but that is what the front desk told me.

I have waited in line to be seen and have been skipped and ignored by the nurses. Not to mention they had my DAUGHTER down as a MALE! And continued to refer to her as a male. They have way to many patients and not enough staff. As much as I hate to lose Dr. Hinojosa I can no longer stay at this doctors office.

I just want to say that the drs are absolutely amazing! Especially dr papilla he goes above and beyond for my kids and the other drs and nurse practioners are amazing to! I've been coming here since i was a child and i brought my children here as well! Yes i due agree with everyone on the calls it is very hard to get through but we are also in a middle of a pandemic and the cases are again getting higher by the day along with kids going back to school so i know everywhere is shortstaffed rn!

They are trying there best to help everyone so why can't we be nice to the ppl that show up to work and try to help OUR kids? Thank you HPA for all that you have done not only for me but my children!

Worst Staff ever! The Doctors are the Best. The problem are not the Drs, the Staff is, never answer the phone, never get a call returned, Staff is rude and very unprofessional. Management does absolutely nothing to improve the situation. Every time my children are sick I dread to call this clinic for anything. Very disappointed with this clinic, I love my children's Dr but this staff is absolutely the worst.

I want to start off by echoing what others have said. The doctors are amazing. They truly have taken care of my kids and given us sound advice over the past 4 years. Unfortunately this review isn't a good one entirely. I want to say the management and and front staff are amongst the worse I have ever experienced when it comes to medical services. Not even Su Clinica treats people as they do.

A simple answering of a phone call can give peace of mind. They can't even do that. I pray that they restructure(fire) management and staff and get things right to give these amazing doctors the reviews, prestige, and proper recognition they deserve.

Did not give me instructions to care for my child that were breastfeeding friendly. Left the wrong number to text in voicemail for check-in. Provided inaccurate instructions for entering the building with their own Covid protocols. Refused walk-in and instead required you call for appointment. Then refused to answer phone: "please call back as all operators are busy at the moment." And, they hang up.

Doctor advised us to use a bottle to supplement when trying to breastfeed. Now baby frequently rejects breastfeeding and prefers the bottle. Ruined our chances at breastfeeding. Now it's a uphill battle.

Recently moved to the area and my 18 month old daughter was up all night with a 101.5F degree fever from a presumed ear infection. Called right at 8am when they opened and waited on hold for 15 MINUTES to speak with the receptionist. When she finally answered, she told me that since my daughter was a "new patient, " it would be a 2 week wait for an appointment, despite me reiterating that she was sick.

When I asked where I should go for a sick visit since I am new to the area and don't know where to go, she told me, "I don't know." When I continued to press, she finally gave me another clinic to look into. Extremely poor customer service. I am a nurse practitioner, and I would never take my children here based on my experience with the receptionist alone. She couldn't have cared less.

I used to take all my kids to this clinic. My son has a disability and I went for for a second opinion since Dr. Natalie Ayala was not a strong advocate for my son when it came to getting things for my son for his disability. Since I went for a second opinion, she got offended, and therefore not only divorce my son when he needed her the most, but also my three other kids.

On top of that in the letter it was never mentioned that she wanted to divorce my children, it was the clinic that made that decision. I was never given a warning or reason they just sent me a letter in the mail. I spoke to a Dolores, Office Manager, and she stated that the assumption was that since I went to seek a second opinion and they assumed that i wanted to have all the kids at one clinic they decided to terminate my services willfor my kids.

I give this farce of a "children's clinic" no stars. The staff is rude and incompetent. The doctors---except for Dr. Fish---are ineffective. Take your child elsewhere or to a specialist. This place should be closed. But the poor people go there with their children and can't afford anywhere else. The front desk people are liabilities to whomever owns this disaster.
