MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, uses a high strength magnet and radio-frequency waves to obtain diagnostic images. Due to the high field strength of the magnet, MRI may not be safe for all patients. The strong magnetic field can be damaging to electronic implants such as pace-makers, so all implants must be researched to find out the safety.
Mammography uses low-dose x-rays to screen for early signs of breast cancer. Many times, mammography can detect breast cancer before it is felt by the patient or a physician. Under normal circumstances, it is recommended for women over the age of 40 to get a yearly mammogram as a preventative measure of breast cancer screening.
Computed Tomography, or better known as CT, uses x-rays to evaluate structures inside the body. A CT scan is able to produce 3-dimensional images, which can accurately display a range of anatomy such as blood vessels, bone, and soft tissues. Here at Park West Imaging, we use a 64-slice CT scanner, which produces high quality images in a matter of seconds.
Ultrasound uses sound waves to evaluate soft tissues structures inside the body, such as internal organs and vessels. Because there are no known harmful effects of ultrasound, it is also often used to monitor pregnancy. Ultrasound images are taken in real-time, showing movements of the structures being examined.

So far, my experience with this office has not been favorable and I haven't even made it through the front door. I had a brain scan ordered by my physician on 6/22 for an episode I experienced a few days prior for intense pressure in my head, dizziness and headaches, and at my age (65), I thought I should have it checked out. As of 6/29 I still have not received a call from Park West Imaging for the scan where the order was sent and I was getting concerned that so much time had passed.
I called my insurance carrier and they told me no one has submitted a request for the scan. I called and left a message for the insurance authorization person at Park West Imaging as no one answered the phone. After a few hours I called again and spoke to the person answering for customer service. They seemed very irritated and annoyed that I was calling and bothering them.
When I asked why the authorization hadn't been submitted she said in a not so pleasant voice, "because the woman who does them hasn't done it yet" and that she is out of the office. I explained to her my concerns and all she offered was that if I didn't want to wait for them to do the authorization (which was already on day 8) then I could pay up front (and bypass waiting for them to do their job in submitting the authorization to my insurance) and kept telling me that I could leave another message with the person doing the authorization, which I did.
But at this point, I don't think it will do any good. So in other words, if I want to get my scan done ASAP I can pay for it myself instead of waiting on them to submit it, whenever that will be.

Not so great with scheduling. I called them several days in advance and scheduled an Xray for 3:50 pm and when I arrived around 3:30 they said it was scheduled for 3:10 and I was too late. I understand mistakes happen but had they simply called or texted earlier in the day to confirm the appointment I would have been fine coming in earlier. I ended up going to a different imaging office instead.

I was scheduled for 10:30 was in by 10:15. Did my paperwork wish took about 2 minutes turn it in. Waited 45 minute as people were coming and going before me. I went to the receptionist and ask if there was something wrong why I hadn't been called. She was rude and said " you were late"! Excuse me I was here at 10:15 she tells me "your appointment was at 10:20" ok, but I was here at 10:15!
She went back to talk to the X-ray technician then called for me. He was questioning me about being late and that is why they hadn't called me. He was very intimidating and rude as he was questioning me. I then said I was not going have him take my X-ray. He then said leave we don't allow any disturbances. I was not being rude just frustrated with the receptionist, scheduler, and that technician.
I am 74 years old have back trouble and knees was in pain from sitting 45 minutes. This was the second time that I had trouble with scheduling and rudeness from ParkWest imaging! I wouldn't recommend any elderly to go there. I reported it to the Hospital.

I had to wait two and a half hours total for an MRI because they "were running late". The bathrooms were very dirty with broken door locks and broken bathroom fixtures, while vagrants constantly wandered into the building, helping themselves to coffee set out for patients. How secure can you feel in a medical facility in a dirty bathroom with a broken door lock with transients wandering around? I won't be returning.

SLOW service. Unfriendly staff and unfortunately, that was the highlight of the visit. Just wait until you have to pay them. I never received a bill (claimed their bills were returned by the post office) and was turned over to collections, who, miraculously, were able to send me a letter that wasn't returned. I'll drive to Colorado Springs for imaging from now on. I almost forgot, I hope you never have to call billing to ask a question. I've had friendlier experiences with bank robbers.

From the friendly receptionists to the joyful MRI techs the folks here take what could be a scary and uncomfortable situation and turn it into an experience that doesn't suck. They checked on me multiple times during my double - length MRI and made sure that I was OK, and everyone had a smile the whole time. These people love their jobs! Not that I WANT a MRI but if I have to, I will come back here!
