Since then, the clinic has expanded and currently has seven full-time pediatricians along with a pediatrician who takes call every Thursday for our group at Monument Health. We also have four full-time and one part-time allied health professionals on staff. We proudly remain committed to being one of the few clinics that provide both inpatient and outpatient care. In 1987, Black Hills Pediatrics was the first medical clinic in Rapid City to provide urgent care clinics during the evenings and weekends.
Dr. David W. Mueller is a board-certified pediatrician with special interests in respiratory illness, child abuse, and infectious diseases. He was born and raised in the Black Hills area and joined our group in June of 2007. Dr. Mueller is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians.
It has been an honor and privilege to care for you all these years and I am exceedingly grateful for your confidence and support. I know the physicians and allied health professionals at Black Hills Pediatrics will continue to provide excellent care for you now and in the future. I'm a travel nurse and brought my family with me to Rapid City for a few months. Our 1 year old daughter became sick and it was recommended by friends and family we go to Black Hills Peds. Nodia was the provider who tended to us and we were very impressed. She took the time to answer all questions, didn't make us feel rushed, did a thorough exam and was super friendly.
We left with an antibiotic prescription and clear care instructions. We had to pay out of pocket and were pleasantly surprised our bill came to under $200. Would definitely recommend this care team to others. Thanks for the great care Black Hills Peds!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hushagen and her nurse, Renae! They have been amazing communicators and been very personable with caring for our daughter. I would recommend these two to anyone. Even the PA we saw on one occasion was amazing and extremely knowledgeable. I always felt listened to and they never overlooked any health concern with my daughter.
They are wonderful and on top of things! The only issue we had was with the technicians being unable to draw my daughters blood. They poked her over 5 times by 3 different techs, causing a really stressful situation. I did not feel confident in their abilities to find the vein. But they were eventually able to obtain her blood through a finger poke. Overall, I recommend Dr. H to anyone!

Firstly, I'd like to say I've used Black Hills Pediatrics for my girls exclusively for almost 13 years, and that makes this even more frustrating. I'm a single father who works in Piedmont and who's 14 year old daughter attends a school outside rapid city, so it's not easy for me to coordinate. My daughter suffers from severe depression and anxiety because of a cruel ex step-mom. Dr.
Strong was recommended by her current therapist, so I booked an appt. I must have written the date down wrong or something, but I didn't receive any reminder text or notification which I've always gotten through black hills peds for any other appt. in the past. instead of calling me to see what happened or confirm the date, I just receive this letter in the mail. Confrontational to say the least if not outright threatening. Needless to say, it doesn't seem Dr.
Strong cares about the business of a patron of Black Hills Peds for as long as I've been going, farther more, I'd question even wanting to have her see my children if this is the level of understanding, compassion or empathy they'd receive when they're having a hard time with life already. I'd caution anybody to send their kids there because, god forbid, life gets busy or you accidentally miss your appt. Seems like all that matters is just a name on paper.

This organization focuses almotost entirely in generating money, and definitely through ethically questionable methods. You call and need a Covid test for your child (this is cost free through most establishments as they can submit the necessary paperwork and recieve reimbursement). You get an appointment for the following day. When you get there you notify them and wait to be called in.
You go in. You're not familiar with the process but they do some swaubs. Then the nurse says they are checking for strep also. They did not ask you and you did not approve this! You tell them this and are "handled" dismissively. You go to leave and the bill in approximately 170.00 you state that you believed the Covid test was without cost. This is when they inform you that they are charging for the strep test and an office visit.
Mind you, a doctor never saw your child and they are still going to submit for the reimbursement funding for the Covid test. Your results will be in in one to three days. In contrast, my niece went to Black Hills Urgent Care in Spearfish (same exact time frame) They Covid tested all but one of her children (her youngest is a small infant) They contacted her with her results for all 5 children within the hour and didn't charge her anything.
They handled the entire process professionally and ethically and gave her outstanding service. (This is not the first issue with Black Hills Peds- I have several other similar experienced I could write about, but it has become the common experience with them.) Definitely time to reevaluate your care and what your paying for.

If you are have a sick child i highly recommend going somewhere else. Whenever i go and say i have a sore throat i always get tested for strep. I have a previous medical history and they told me it was wrong and it had came from a specialist. They never actually help you. I have two jobs and I had to get tested and i knew that i was going to have to go into quarantine but refused to give me a doctors note for the amount of time i was going to need off for quarantine because she "didn't feel comfortable" giving me that amount of time.
Also while i was in my room i was told by the doctor that after i get my test done that I am good to go but after lab came in to take the test they told me to wait. So i decided to wait and I sat in my room for a good 10 minutes after they left until another nurse came in and told me that I could go. When i was leaving i noticed that the waiting room lights were off and the lady that checked me in was no longer there.
They had totally forgotten about me. I was not happy with this visit at all and should most definitely go to a different pediatric or even urgent care because they know more about what they are doing then they do at this facility.

Dr. Lori Strong and her nurse are amazing. We had a check up today for my child's 3 year old check up. Every time we go in to see her she is super friendly, very knowledgeable and always has the answers. I just love her energy and all the information I get when we go in. I wish she could be my doctor also. Thank you black hills pediatrics! I would recommend her to anyone.
