H. Whitney Boggs and Gene W. Slagle established Colon and Rectal Associates with the mission of providing excellence in the treatment of colon and rectal diseases. Colon and Rectal Associates performed our 1st colonoscopy in 1974, which was the first colonoscopy performed in North Louisiana. We now complete approximately 2,000 endoscopic procedures per year.
The American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons was established to promote the health and welfare of the American people through the development and maintenance of high standards for certification in the specialty of colon and rectal surgery. The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons is a national association of colon and rectal surgeons and other surgeons dedicated to advancing and promoting the science and practice of the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the colon, rectum and anus.
The Louisiana State University Health Shreveport (LSUHS) training program in colon and rectal surgery is an ACGME accredited fellowship accepting one training candidate per year. We provide compassionate, high quality, state-of-the-art care for patients with diseases and conditions of the colon, rectum, and anus.
