An allergist is a physician trained to diagnose, treat, and manage asthma and allergies, whether they are related to or caused by foods, environmental factors such as pollen, drugs, or topical substances. For your information, each month we feature a topic of interest to our readers. Please read our September Topic of the Month below.

Our Physicians do not refill prescriptions for maintenance drugs or antibiotics on the weekends. Please make sure to call during regular office hours with these requests. Please make sure to check your supply of prescription medications for the long holiday weekend, request those several days ahead to insure you don't get caught without!
Proof of identification (photo ID) (If patient is a minor, ID of parent or guardian checking in). List of current prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medication, including dose and frequency. This is a consultation practice of allergy, asthma and immunology. Admission to the hospital would be made through your primary care provider or emergency room.
Allergies are caused by an abnormal response of the immune system to triggers in the environment. Symptoms can involve the nose and sinuses, the lungs, the skin, and the stomach and GI tract. They can be caused by something you breathe (an inhalant) such as pet dander, pollen, or mold; by something you swallow such as food or medicine; something you touch such as poison ivy, cosmetics, or chemicals; or stinging insects. The first step is diagnosis. Allergy testing allows us to identify what your specific triggers are.

Girl on the phone was extremely rude and wasn't sure what she was talking about. I had a referral here and was told by doctor Chou that I could be seen for my recent diagnosis of mastocytosis. It took them 4 days to call me back after I left a voicemail. When they finally did the girl was rude and told me "doctor Chou doesn't see people for mastocytosis" and she didn't even know what it was. Very difficult to get an appointment here or even through to one of the nurses.

I began treatment for 8 different allergens. At that time I needed mask and goggles to function. Doctor Chou prescribed medications my GP was not familiar with and my symptoms eased enough to begin immunotherapy. I am down to one allergen for shots now. I am a difficult case with several other issues so much that the other allergist would not treat me. Dr Chou very carefully planned my treatment and I am very thankful for all of the people on her staff that assisted to make my life good.

Having never been to an allergist before, I'm not sure if my experience was indicative of allergists in general, or the Allergy and Asthma Center in particular. They told me they would block off 2 hours for my "comprehensive new patient appointment". I had to fill out 12 separate forms ahead of time documenting my allergy, including multiple duplications of the same information about symptoms.
The doctor saw me for no more than 10 minutes, ran no tests, did not come within 10 ft of me, performed no examination of symptoms. She read my forms back to me, informed me that there was a 90% chance she would not be able to find the cause but would be willing run several tests (read: spend a lot of my money) to try. I left having to book a second appointment (for another charge) to get lab work done in another location--I never went. The charge: $382. The whole thing felt like a scam to bill insurance companies.

My two-year-old daughter has had to go to ER twice for severe allergy response. After the first time we were referred to this office and we've had good experience so far. We live in Roseburg so it's been really nice that we've been able to do virtual appointments instead of in person. They test my daughters blood instead of scratch test or anything like That that we would need to go in person for.
So the virtual appointments have been perfect- there was literally no reason for us to have gone in person so I really like that they offer and recommend that option. I felt like The doctor was very thorough. She listened to all my concerns and let me show her pictures of my daughters hives I had taken lol. She was very patient. I understand that I probably only had a 15 minute appointment but having a baby who had gotten so sick, I was extremely scared and the doctor talked with me for over an hour until I felt completely comfortable.
And the second time my daughter had the allergy I had to give her an EpiPen. So I requested a refill from the allergy doctor for another EpiPen and I was very happy that the office immediately called me along with refilling it since obviously refilling that med before it's due means you had to use it. so I appreciated that vigilant call to discuss what happened. Only thing- if you don't hear from them with results of a test- obviously you should call them to follow up. But that's the same with every doctor

I attempted to schedule an appointment and the person doing the scheduling berated me for missing an appointment 21 years ago. I was incredulous because she then went in to admonish me fir missing the appointment. The appointment was in 2000 and that's when my mother had a severe and ultimately fatal stoke and I was with her 24/7 for 8 days. So I missed a few appointments then.
I'm glad I had this experience with this "person" who was scheduling because it shows me what type of people may be employed there. I declined making an appointment because she was condescending and spoke to me as one might speak to a disobedient child. I put in a review about an hour ago and they discarded it and I'm sure they'll do the same with this one.
Therefore I'll post my comments on social media sites with additional details. In my opinion they don't even deserve a "1" if my verbal encounter is indicative of the atmosphere there.

I was recommended this place by my doctor. When being put on hold to talk to the front desk person I had to wait about 5 minutes in which I muted my self. When she responded I unmuted my self and started talking. But right before I did she yells "no ones on the phone!" Really loudly to the person next to her. Like I'm literally talking right now. Then she just hangs up. Nice if I have to wait 5 minutes for her why couldn't she wait 5 seconds for me

Doctor Berry was great! I would give 5 stars, but the medical assistant said too much! Assistant needs training on how to be professional in a medical office. Don't make personal comments on test results or patient conditions! The assistant stressed me out by overreacting and trying to share my grief over the diagnosis.

Today we took the kids here to see how much of their illnesses lately have been linked to allergies. The office was very clean, and they had a large waiting area with tons of toys for the kids to play with. The wait was about 5 minutes which wasn't bad. The nurses were very kind and helpful. My boy had a full test with 35 different allergens on his back and the nurse did a great job and telling him what was going on so he wouldn't be scared.
Once she found out he was very allergic to dust mites, she gave him a shot of another type of dust mite and did it well enough to not make him cry. The boy was quite proud of not crying! So I thank her for that. They did equally as well with my daughter. She had 5 allergens on her back which all worked out well. Dr. Rohr was nice and knowledgeable VERY thorough and detailed on all aspects.
Only down side is we were there at 915am and we didn't get out of there until 12:45pm. 3 1/2 hours was INSANELY ridiculous. If they couldn't shorten the process up that would be great. But overall, they found out a lot of allergens that was bugging our kids, and it's nice to know how to keep them away from it. I would like to give 4 stars to them ONLY BECAUSE Dr. Rohr came off as genuinely caring for the kids and their well being.
