I visited the emergency room in May2022. Debbie in admissions called my name to visit her window. I didn't understand why she called me and was on the phone. She never even looked up at me, then she pointed for me to pick up the phone Infront of me. I didn't understand but I picked it up anyway. It was a translator speaking Spanish. She is obviously a racist and assumed I didn't speak English because of my last names.
I am a black woman, Louisiana born, Texas raised. I speak English perfectly well. My husband gave me the last names I have. I did nothing to indicate I don't speak English. Racist much! I'd rather go back to GRADY and that speaks Volumes

******WARNING, IF YOU HAVE SICKLE CELL, NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL ISN'T FOR YOU******This hospital doesn't care about people with sickle cell disease. I went to the ER on 6/16 for crisis and they made me wait 2 1/2 hours before I decided to leave, after checking the list and my name was still behind. I have never been to a hospital and had to wait that long.
Other hospitals in the city have protocols to take care of sickle cell patients. Why doesn't Northside? I had to drive in pain. I could of got into a car accident. Would I have been seen fast after that?

Had my baby here on Saturday. Labor was manageable (thank god for epidural!) and my doctors and labor nurses were so sweet and efficient. Now to the negative- Some of the post labor staff were very sweet and helpful and some were pushy and gave conflicting information from what the doctors and other nurses/techs gave regarding our baby. One nurse was too talkative/judgemental when we asked if our baby could go to the nursery for a couple hours so we could sleep between a feeding.
Essentially argued with us over it which was quite stressful and frustrating. One main issue they should work on is the amount of people coming into a room at a time and timing. To just have a baby and then immediately be forced to go through all the documentation moments later is a bit much. There was too many people coming into our post partem room at all hours after just giving birth.
We had someone (nurse, tech, doctor, photographer, pediatrician, food service, sanitation, customer support person, etc) coming into our room ever hour of every day (we were there for 2.5 days) after the delivery and my husband and I could barely get a moment of privacy or peace to rest after this intense event. Even when I wanted to go to the bathroom folks just barged in without asking.
It felt crowded and like a conveyor belt. Only on the last day did the nurse and tech let us have the room alone for three hours to sleep. Tamecia, our night tech, specifically was amazing and super knowledgeable regarding feedings and timing which no one explained to us initially. We however would advise the hospital to have less folks coming into rooms immediately after giving birth. Give folks privacy and space and a moment to be with their baby alone. This is a super special moment for them even if it's just another work day for you.

Apparently not only do you not need good bedside manner to be a doctor or nurse, you also don't need any humanity or compassion. Why these people decided to join a helping profession, I'll never know. It must solely be based on financial reasons. Rude and condescending doctors, cold-hearted and abusive nurses. I would go as far as calling them evil.
My friend had to wait hours before anybody would even pay attention to him. No call button so he had to scream to even get a cup of water (which was promised to him several times and never delivered). Really? You won't even give a sick person a cup of water? He fell and hit his head and they didn't even bother doing a CT scan. After ignoring him for several hours, they couldn't get rid of him fast enough.
These people are lucky in that there will always be sick people so they have job security. But life is more than money. Try having a little compassion on your fellow man! Do some soul-searching (if you even have a soul). For your own sake, don't go here. It's bad enough being sick, you don't want to be mistreated as well. There are much better hospitals in Atlanta. These people are not caring people.

I recently had surgery here, and honestly I have mixed feelings. All medical professionals were great. Shout out to Ruby a nurse technician on extended recovery! You were an absolute angel to me and never rushed me when I needed help. Keep on being amazing! Now to the part I didn't love. Some of the hospital policies are absolutely stupid. They try to get every last penny from you. Be aware that if you are self pay you're going to pay a hefty bill, and it will need to be paid upfront.

I had a bad experience with my baby girl. The people that changed shift, half of them were excellent and the other half were just plain rude. Keep in mind we stayed for 5 days after birth due to my daughters condition. I told them that i was going to report the people that made my experience terrible and the supervisor said they would send me some baby diapers for my daughter. After all these months( 7 months after) still no baby diapers. Will not recommend to mothers with there upcoming newborn.

Facilities are clean and providers are great. Dealing with follow-up billing errors to our insurance and incorrect patient balances has been HORRIBLE on more than one occasion. We had two bills that were supposed to be covered at 100 percent by insurance and Northside's OWN financial assistance program, sent to collections in the past month. One was a year old, and we were told it had been resolved a year ago, and hadn't received anything in a year. If you value your credit score beware.

Northside Hospital betrayed my trust in them. I drove almost a hour to their hospital because I thought they were a great hospital. But they are no better than hospitals with a 1 star rating. I brought my daughter in because of a breakdown. The social worker assured me that they would keep me in the loop and would make sure I was a part of any decision that were made because she was not competent herself.
These people transferred my daughter to another hospital and they sent her to a place worse than expected and they didn't consult with me on the place. They cared nothing about her welfare. They just wanted her put of their hospital. No empathy. The social worker and the doctor both sat with me and lied to me. The nurse she had was rude from the start. Now my child is at a facility that no one should be at. All because I trusted Northside t

Allstar weekend, I didn't know I had ate a weed brownie. My anxiety was acting up, so I went to the hospital. The doctor I saw, her bedside manners were horrible. I didn't get a Covid test, but they said I had Covid. Tried to give me an iv with meds and I said no. I left. How you tell someone they have Covid if there was no test given and I also didn't have any symptoms.

During my delivery, I arrived 10cm dilated. I only had a choice of two hospitals and I'm happy we chose Northside. Overall, staff made me feel at ease and relaxed throughout the process. Only negative is I didn't like the way the staff made me feel when I refused the Covid test. Again, arrived 10cm dilated and ready to deliver when they attempted to test me.
I asked if the results changed anything. She said no so I refused. I had no symptoms, was not around anyone who had been exposed and I Didn't want additional discomfort of the test for no reason. I then noticed I was left with just my midwife and nurse. Made me feel like the concern was not for me and baby but for staff. Staff that should be vaccinated and trained to protect themselves. I was slightly offended but my midwife, nurse and baby nurse were truly amazing.

So upset sitting in the patient room. Came in for pain down below while pregnant and have been here for OVER 6 hours. 16 weeks pregnant and I'm starving. Havent gotten water, crackers, nothing. Haven't seen my nurse in 3 hours. Looked and walked down the hallway and everyone is gone. Everyone was nice and super friendly when I came in, but they have very poor time management skills and low staff when needed, making the wait x3 of what it should be.
I'm suppose to be delivering my baby at this hospital, and now I'm afraid. I hope this isn't like any other day because the staff is great, but the wait time has been terrible for me

Would be giving it no stars if it was available. My son called me stating they wont release a prescription to him unless he pays the hospital bill for his visit. Hmm interesting! Before you go, take your wallet. If you don't have money to pay; just stay home an pray you don't die. After reviewing other comments I sure hope this medicine works. $1500 later.
Since my son wont listen maybe the next person will. Make sure the hospital is your best option. Sometimes primary care is a better option. If a medical professional does any work on you and you experience complications, call that medical professional first! UNLESS ITS AN EMERGENCY.

The staff continually gave me the same medication after I told them it wasn't working, and it didn't work during my last surgery either. They pretended to go get something else, and gave me a pain button to push. I pushed it twice with no effect, and asked them what it was. It was the same medication again. They never managed to do anything for my pain, and I had to come back and go to the ER because my doctor said to come back here.
Against my better judgement, I went. Explained the whole medication thing to the staff and they again tried to give me the same medication without telling me. Keep in mind, this is a strong opiate medication so they have no reason to keep trying to force it on me. Unless you just really like to be in pain and ignored, don't come here.

Registration with Yulonda was very professional. Every staff member in the Radiation department were outstanding. The doctor that was doing the bone marrow biopsy came to explain every detail. Alex assist him to the recovery room was so pleasant. Kevin stood by us like we were family. My "Hempstead Hero" (security guard) changed a flat tire for me. Blessings to each and every one of you.

I gave birth here a year ago and it was a bad experience with the epidural. My heart rate went really high after there was ringing in my ears and they were clogged. I couldn't breathe and then my blood pressure went really low. The nurse just let me lay there and the anesthesiologist never came back. The nurse never got anyone to help me when my heart rate was really high.
She said she didn't get anyone to help because of something that didn't make sense. I think they know that a mistake was made or maybe on purpose. Now I have abnormal Ecg readings and other problems. I still have the ringing in my ears along with other problems. I regret it. I'm having cognitive issues now also. I also have nerve problems now. It was a horrible experience that messed up my quality of life.
I regret it. I should've did a natural home birth! Hospitals are suppose to help you. Not make you sick. I still felt all the pain anyway and felt very sick the next day. That person who did my epidural is enjoying his life and I have a new baby who needs me along with my other daughter. I shouldn't be sick right now.

Went to the ER because I had concussion and was given a drug that I had a bad reaction to which made my legs convulse and I could not control them. The nurse that gave it to me never stopped to see if I would have a reaction to it snd they wheeled me into the CT scan and taped my head down with me screaming that something wasn't right. Later when I was back in the room they said the drug they gave me frequently causes bad reactions and they gave another drug to counteract it. Truly horrible terrifying experience and very unprofessional on their part

Very horrible and money making business and are not truthful. Do not come here for any annual visits, without checking previous your health records they call you diligently to say you need to go for further tests. They bill you like crazy and in the end its nothing. People are rude and disconnect the phones on you.

This review is only for Dr. Robert Dourron in Labor and Delivery. He deals mostly with Latinx patients and he treats them with no respect. He speaks down to his patients and he checks them without asking for permission. He also manhandles them when he wants them to move closer toward the end of the bed. Northside's management is aware of his rude and belligerent behavior but refuses to take action because he is one of the few physicians who will accept patients on Medicare which is a huge money grab for the hospital.
The only way to make Northside take action is to expose him publicly and hopefully the AJC or one of the local media outlets will investigate and then Northside will pretend to care. Until then I recommend anyone reading this to spread the word about this horrible OB/GYN physician.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They are very human and they are always patient, kind, professional. We have been here two months since my nephew's diagnosis and we have no negative comments. I am grateful for all the attention received by the doctors, nurses, cleaning staff. I just have to say thank you.

I have to give this hospital 1 star only because the nurse and doctor that took care of our son were amazing! We are from Tennessee and our son was playing in a basketball tournament in the Atlanta area. He sustained an injury and needed stitches in his head. When we checked in we were told that they accepted our Medical-Share plan. I ask if they were in the PHCS network with Medi-Share and we were told yes.
When we received the bill for the procedure our out of pocket was for the full amount submitted to Medi-Share. Medi-Share applied the adjustment to my medical bill (EOB) showing our out of pocket less than the fee charged. After speaking with a representative with Northside they informed me they weren't in network and we were misinformed. They were also not willing to accept what Medi-Share had said was our out of pocket.
I was also told they wouldn't negotiate the fee since it was sent to Medi-Share and they weren't in network. I volunteered to pay the in full if they would negotiate a self-pay fee. They weren't willing to negotiate the fee. Medi-Shari even tried to call on my behalf to negotiate the fee and they wouldn't budge. They representative was so rude and didn't care that we were from TN and had no other choice but to go to their hospital so our son could get his busted head taken care of! Now we are out of pocket almost $3,000 for the visit!

My wife delivered a baby at Northside couple of months ago. I couldn't be more satisfied about the level of care we received. Everything went smoothly and clear explanation was provided before every procedure. After the delivery, the nurses, technicians, and consultants who tended to us were very caring, knowledgeable, and encouraging. As new parents, we asked many stupid questions and did many stupid things.
They are always patient with us and show us lots of useful tips taking care of the baby. Special shoutout to a technician who tended to us, Ms. Sheila. She's always so kind, so loving, and so encouraging. Our screaming baby immediately felt at ease and calmed down at her presence. Our baby will miss her upbeat and loving demeanor. The only thing that was a little let down was the meal service.
It was unclear, even among the staff, how to order meal for the companion. Sometimes food was delivered and sometimes, it's not. When the food it's delivered, they are usually pretty tasty.especially for $3. When food is not delivered, there are wide variety of food at the cafeteria and there s also a McDonald's.so it's really not a big deal. We highly recommend Northside to all expecting parents.

I recently had surgery at Northside Hospital and I must say the staff was amazing. Everyone was kind and walked me through each step of the process. Kimberly in recovery took great care of me. I felt like she was a sister. My nurse Saaun was amazing and so was my attendant Keisha. I was in the hospital alone but they truly made me feel like family. Thank you, Northside!

I went on a Friday evening and am shocked how quickly I got seen. They literally had a bed for me after they saw my heart rate was up. The tech, X-ray tech and nurses well all so kind. Even the doctors! Eventually I got admitted into the hospital and the care I received was amazing. The nurses and techs were so patient with me and understanding. I am not used to that, I am used to people getting mad etc. really enjoyed my nurses the first two days I was there.
My tech was also amazing and brought me anything I needed. They work on unit 72 and if I ever have to come back I am going to ask to go back to unit 72. Thank you guys for everything, out of all my years of living I never received great service from a hospital.

Well they could not locate my baby for three hours but assured me he was somewhere upstairs. That's a good feeling after you give birth. While I was in labor the charge nurse was discussing a Hispanic patient and said, "it's probably her tenth baby. You know how Mexicans are." I won't deliver here again.
