I went today to get frames for my 12 year old son. Initially I went alone and a wonderful woman named Elena convinced me to bring my son in to try them on, as she didn't want me to spend money on glasses that may be uncomfortable for him. Good thing I listened. You know us moms can be impulsive when running errands lol. Anywho, she was sooooo incredible helpful, patient and kind; not to mention super personable, which I love encountering at any establishment.
My son loves his new glasses and they have a great selection but I wanted to recognize the wonderful customer service by Elena. I will be back there for any optic needs thanks to her.

Dr. Randy Kansky is such a phenomenal doctor! I only wish I found out about him sooner than now. Disclaimer: I am one of those who have a 20/20 and went there mainly for an annual check-up. He was a very articulate and knowledgeable man who spoke to me about a variety of topics such as how the exams are done, the way lenses operate, Luxottica, even ways on how I can save money on my coverage since I don't wear glasses.
The staff was super friendly as well, and I highly recommend them to anyone else looking for a place to get their eyes checked. It's an independent shop so it's a great way to support your local community as well.

It had been an embarrassingly long time in between eye exams; luckily, EyeShapes had hours available early on a Saturday afternoon.and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The front desk staff is friendly and courteous, taking all necessary COVID precautions. I was a bit early, but Dr Kansky was able to meet with me before my scheduled appointment.
The exam was efficient and thorough and the staff was able to recommend a wide range of frames that would fit my prescription. Two weeks later, I was in and out with a new pair of glasses. Very highly recommended

This was my first visit to Dr. Kansky and I couldn't possibly thank him and his staff enough. I was experiencing blurred vision and Dr. Kansky personally spoke with me on the phone and gave me complete reassurance. He proceeded to immediately fit me in between patients and was so helpful and thorough in his exam. I have never had such a pleasant experience, and I look forward to having my regular eye exams done here. I would give him and his kind receptionist 100 stars if I could!

Ai had a very poor experience at this establishment, one with the doctor refusing to give me a prescription and when doing so and me getting my glasses done somewhere else because their prices were a little too steep for me. Turned out they gave me a prescription that didn't work and when I went back to the doctor he redid the the exam, came up with a different prescription and told me that he would not take anything back because I didn't want to do my glasses with them. And guess what, glasses were done and the prescription was not good once again. If you can, avoid this place, rude doctor and bad customer service

Fantastic office staff and doctors. Both doctors give an incredibly thorough eye exam. My most recent visit, Dr. Kansky helped me understand the cause for my persistent dry eye and find a new contact lens that I can wear throughout the day with no discomfort. Not sure what the commentary about not handing over your prescription is about. I ordered a pair of glasses from Warby Parker and Eyeshapes confirmed my prescription no problem. Additionally, Dr. Kansky helped me find contact lenses that were much less expensive than what I had been prescribed at two other practices! Love this practice and continue to visit for my annual checkups despite moving into NYC.

I have never experienced this type of service in my life. Dr. Kansky is all great until the point when you ask for your script so you can price around. He got very aggressive with an attitude when he found out that my glasses were not purchased with him - I followed up to get my contacts prescription in which he gave me a whole sales pitch as well as he didn't understand why I am not getting them through him.
He kept pushing contacts that I told him did not work. He must really get a commission for pushing specific products. Not only was I screamed at on the phone for asking for a script but also now have to pay money to get a real exam by a real professional. Dr. Kanesky is a con artist. There are other great places in Hoboken - plan otherwise.

This place truly entertained me. Like many of the people have already said, Dr Kansky will try any way he can to get your $$$$ and hold ur prescription till you show'em da $$$$. Dat tantrum's real. A few words for da business - while it's hard to run a business in dis internet age, don't forget whose money you're trying to get from and next time come up with better arguments.
Even if you try to scam people, tell better lies that are actually convincing. Learn from Bernie Madoff - good luck! As a consumer, plz memorize dis by heart and let me do you a favor: The Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act (Pub. L. 108-164, 117 Stat. 2024, codified at 15 U.S.C. ch. 102 et seq.), prescribers must: -give a copy of the contact lens prescription to the patient at the end of the contact lens fitting - even if the patient doesn't ask for it. -provide or verify the contact lens prescription to anyone who is designated to act on behalf of the patient, including contact lens sellers.
In any response to a verification request, prescribers must correct any inaccuracy in the prescription, inform the seller if it's expired and specify the reason if it's invalid. Now comes to the key part: Prescribers cannot require patients to: -buy contact lenses -pay additional fees or -sign a waiver or release in exchange for a copy of the contact lens prescription. Dr Kansky and his staff are wonderful! Best eye doctor I've ever had! Have gone for eye contact fittings a couple times and Dr Kansky and his staff have always been prompt and polite! When away on vacation I lost my contacts and Dr Kansky was able to help recommend a solution to get me through a couple days Have also seen him when I tore my cornea and Dr Kansky was super helpful and even followed up via text message. His office was able to fit me in the same day. After I moved they even mailed me another 6 months of contacts. Could not recommend more. Wish I could see him from Florida!

They are very prompt. I had an appointment at 12:30 but was running 10 minutes late. I called them to give a heads up and so they kept my file ready. Since I had already pre-filled my paperwork with Zocdoc. So I was ushered after waiting for just under 2 minutes. This has been my third annual visit with them, and absolutely love them. Even though its a 30 minute drive for me.
The staff to us very professional and personable. I am very impressed. Dr Kansky (both of them) are very knowledgeable and don't rush you. Especially for me since I have keratoconus and the prescription varies a lot.

This is not the kind of business I would normally review, but I really love Dr. Kansky and his wonderful staff. I've moved away now and am sad to no longer be a patient, but Eyeshapes and I still follow each other on Instagram! Everyone at this office is efficient and friendly. I've never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen and exams are quick yet thorough. Dr. Kansky in particular goes above and beyond.
One time I was worried my cornea was scratched even though he said it was just a minor abrasion and he gave me his personal cell phone number in case anything changed even though he was going on vacation the very next day. I also once had a desperate situation where I was on my last pair of monthly contacts that I just recently opened and immediately made a tiny rip on the edge of the right contact. I was without backups and called the office desperately and they immediately supplied me with some samples of the same prescription. Highly recommend!

Their service has deteriorated for sure. We went to pick up our eyeglasses, and they always sit you down to try them out for any necessary adjustments. The lady at front desk was in such rush or so disinterested, she didn't even bother wipe clean the lens before offering us to try. More so, if I tried to bend my head down to see if they slide down, it was rather humorous to her.
I have noticed the service varies by how much your bill was at the end of the visit. I saw them spend close to half hour fixing the fit of glasses for a couple who perhaps spent close to a grand for their glasses, knowing the brands and all. What a shame!
