One of the most common problems seen in elderly patients is cataract formation. The lens of the eye, which is normally clear and allows light to focus properly onto the back of the eye, becomes progressively cloudy with age, causing significant visual disturbances. When a cataract has progressed, the vision can no longer be corrected with eyeglasses.
The doctors at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge perform eye examinations for patients of all ages. During your eye exam, we will determine if a change in eyeglass prescription is needed, check the eye pressure, and evaluate the health of the front and the back of your eyes. Your Brooklyn ophthalmologist may recommend dilation of your pupils to fully visualize the back of the eye (optic nerve and retina). In most cases, patients are able to drive after dilation, but reading vision can be affected for a few hours.

What a great place. Haven't had my eyes checked in awhile and was worried they wouldn't have the right machine to figure out what's wrong. Well. They have about 20 different things that can check your eyes and your glasses. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dr Rusu is excellent and explained in plain English what was going on and how she and the other doctors can help me see better. The process took a lot longer than I'm used to but that's a small price to pay for them being thorough.

On April 13, 2022, I had Lasik surgery. I was able to see so clearly immediately after the procedure. Dr. Elias Aliprandis was absolutely amazing from start to finish. His secretaries Laura, Omayra and Stefania were so helpful, kind and attentive. From scheduling appointments to setting up financing, they were so incredibly helpful. I had the best experience and would highly recommend Dr. Elias Aliprandis.

My experience with Dr. Aliprandis and his entire staff was excellent. Dr. Aliprandis took the time to answer all my questions and to discuss in detail all my options. O'Mayra the surgical coordinator was excellent as well. She took the time both in person and over the phone several times to answer all my concerns and questions. I wish I knew all their names to thank them individually. I highly recommend Dr. Aliprandis. They were all very courteous, pleasant, patient and very knowledgeable.

The gift of sight is truly precious. Dr. Aliprandis is an excellent surgeon and the staff is very sympathetic an helpful. I experienced no pain and was delighted to see the world and read as I once did. Cataracts should and need not be a reality of age. The laser procedure might seem costly, but is there a price to see loved ones and return to everyday fonts?

Today was a horrible consultation. My appointment was at 3 PM, they got me in at 3:30 PM just for some questions and after that I had to go to the waiting area to wait to be seen by the doctor. The waiting time was up to "2 hours". Literally the doctor saw me at 5:00 PM. He asked me the same questions again and for the eye check up. Honestly he did not know what he was doing.
At the end he just told me that in most cases is nothing and maybe I need to see a neurologist even that he thinks it is not necesaary. I do not recommend thiis office, waist of time.

Doctor arrived almost 90 minutes after he was scheduled to arrive, which left a room full of patients for him to see. Rude office staff who had an attitude the whole time I was there (which was 2 hours and left without seeing the doctor). They yelled at an elderly gentleman, who needed to use supplemental oxygen, for wearing a mask incorrectly when two women behind the desk didn't have masks on at all. Rules for patients, not for staff?
I guess covid doesn't effect them the same way or they just get a kick out of having the power to tell people what to do. I'm a nurse, so I know how patients should be treated and this office completely missed the mark. Avoid at all costs

The most wonderful staff! Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. It was a truly amazing experience, getting my eye fixed. I can't wait to have the other cataract removed in January. Last but not least, Dr. Aliprandis is just great. He explains everything patiently and takes his time with each patient. I knew from the minute we met that he was an expert!

The staff is amazing! They are calm and courteous. In a panic with a headache and massive eye pressure, I was able to get an appointment right away. I was seen immediately. All the technicians and the doctors were extremely thorough and put me at ease that the condition was temporary and I felt confident in their conclusion. I can't thank them enough for their prompt attention and professionalism. I wish all my doctors appointments and office staff were as personal and compassionate as they are here.

I deeply regret NOT getting my eyes done here. I had a consultation months ago and like everyone else I was deterred by the long wait, severely overcrowded waiting room (especially during the pandemic) and the less then perfect look of the office. The doctor however addressed all of my concerns with compassion and patience. He was really really knowledgeable and I have yet to see a bad review on his actual ability to perform surgery.
He told me what was needed to prep for surgery and did not pressure me at all. The price was the price and he was truly a professional. I opted to go to another well known place De la Russo and I regret it. I thought my time was more valuable them my eyes and I was so wrong. I got my surgery over a week ago and my vision is Blurry, before I got the surgery everyone there was so nice, but I should have been suspicious when they offered a discount to put a non refundable deposit on my surgery.
They pressured me and since they were close to my home, the office was super fancy and roomy, , and the wait time was minimal I made my choice based on convenience since I figured the doctors would be mostly the same. I went in a week later my vision still Blurry and my eyes every uncomfortable and all of a sudden they were like well you knew there were risks and completely disregarded my concerns.
I even tried to cancel the surgery the day of because they didn't tell me ahead of time I couldn't swim for 2 weeks and I had a vacation planned. They assured me I'd have perfect vision in 3 or 4 days and that it would not impact my vacation at all. Well wrong cause when I went in all of a sudden I was told it could take weeks for my eyes to feel better.
I don't know if this review will help anyone and I still think this place needs a sever administrative overhaul but they didn't pressure me, no gimmicks and the doctor was so knowledgeable that I truly regret not going with them. The 2 hr wait would have been better of this week and a half of torture.
