I'm posting because I see conflicting reviews. No one, including me. looks forward to a colonoscopy. The negative, I had to wait almost 3 months knowing that I did have some concerns to worry about. And the prep was awful but can't be avoided. But once arriving, the staff was so helpful and personal. Jake took me in and got all the questions out of the way, a wonderful nurse prepped, Dr Nanchiondo introduced himself (a wonderful doctor) and away I went for the procedure.
Post procedure, everything was explained and I even received a printout of results. I realized all my angst and fear was unfounded. But for everyone reading this- please get your Colonoscopy, especially after age 50. Don't let your fear of this procedure stop you from getting the care you need.

This place refused to see me because according to my pcp I rescheduled too many time. This place didn't care that I couldn't afford their prep kit and I didn't have any to look after me while the sedation wore off, I called and left a message for a manager to try to resolve this and no one has returned my phone call. So if cancer is growing inside of me this place couldn't care less because I can't afford their prep kit and I didn't want the sedation. This whole situation seems like neglect!

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD! MY FIRST INITAL APPOINTMENT FOR MY SON WAS JUST OK, UNTIL DR. GREGORY MADE A COMMENT THAT DIDNT SIT WELL WITH ME. TODAY, WE HAD ANOTHER APPOINTMENT (WHICH I REGRET WASTING MY TIME WITH) AND WAS TOLD TO BE THERE AT 3:45PM. I GOT TO THE OFFICE AND WAITED IN LINE, FILLED OUT COVID STUFF AND TOOK OUR TEMPS. WAITED FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES TO BE TOLD I HAD TO RESCHEDULE BECAUSE FROM WHAT THEY SAID i NEEDED TO BE THERE AT 3:30. SERIOUSLY!?
I DROVE ALL THE WAY ACROSS TOWN TO BE TOLD THIS? I WAS TOLD WHAT TIME TO BE THERE AND ARRIVED BEFORE THAN, SO NOW ITS MY PROBLEM! THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE WHAT SO EVER. AFTER READING SEVERAL REVIEWS.I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THOSE. I WILL NEVER GO TO THEM AGAIN. I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSE WHERE. MAYBE SOME STAFF THAT HAS A BIT MORE COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING THAT SOMEONE GAVE A PATIENT THE WRONG INFORMATION BUT WILL SEE THEM ANYWAYS. YOU KNOW, I COULD UNDERSTAND IF I WAS LATE 15 OR MORE MINUTES BUT COME ON.I ARRIVED BEFORE THE TIME I WAS TOLD TO. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE IN THE FUTURE. BECAUSE I SURE DIDN'T LISTEN TO THE OTHERS.

This feedback is for drivers accompanying anyone undergoing an anesthetic procedure here. I brought the patient here, as instructed. The patient filled out the required paperwork while I waited patiently for about 15 minutes, only to be told that I was free to leave after not being required to do anything other than provide a phone number. I didn't even have to sign anything.
Why waste my time when you know the procedure a patient is scheduled for, and knowing that I don't have to stay there while they fill out paperwork?! Super frustrating. I was also not provided with an estimated time for completion of the procedure. I was given the choice to wait or to depart. I was expecting two to three hours after recovery from anesthesia, so I drove back to work to get shit done (pun intended).
Imagine my surprise to be called an hour after I had left, only to have to drive across town again. When I arrived, I came back to the waiting area and was asked if I had had my temperature taken when I was there last. After explaining that I wasn't a patient, I was then told to drive around to the back door (pun intended again) and ring the bell.
None of these instructions were provided to me without having to ask. If you're trying to help a patient at this place, expect to be totally put off and forgotten. This office sucks.

This entity has been active in the Reno Community for years. The staff & the doctors have been thorough & professional in all their dealings with me & my health needs. At least one of the doctors is retiring so I'll be meeting with a new doctor soon. I'm sure if he's being brought on board by his predecessors all is going to be as well as before. A well populated office scheduling can take a minute.
In my case it has always been fine for my needs. On site colonostomy procedures were added a couple of years ago. Labwork is done offsite depending on patients billing & insurance preferences. Located just east of Wells Avenue access & parking is very easy.

I have been going to G I consultants for around 15 years. Need the five year screening every 5 years once you're 50 years old. It's one of those necessary yet extremely uncomfortable, at least for me, requirements. I have dealt with 3 of the Physicians over the years. Chen, Feng and Osgard. Very professional and good bedside manner. The only problem is, post Covid, it is very difficult to reach human beings. Took me over 6 weeks to get through all the phone tag, scheduling, checkup and finally a procedure set up.
Long wait times on the phone, leave a message, they don't call back etc. Not sure if it's a staffing issue or just post Covid crappy service that seems to be the new norm. Once I was on hold about 30 minutes being told I was next in line, have the phone ring, then back to the cycle of being next in line. Very frustrating. Finally I left a message and never got a reply. Sadly, there's not a lot of options.
If it was a haircut, I would just find another stylist. But really can't do that lol. I Have to have a colonoscopy, insurance deductible was met, so I needed to get this done before insurance reset. Most gastroenterology places are setting appointments two months out. Once I got in though, the people were very nice and helpful. After letting them know that I really needed to move this along, they put me on a priority schedule and got my procedure scheduled before insurance deadline.

My husband had a procedure here. The woman who called to say he was ready to be picked up hung up on me because I asked her to call me back due to a bad connection. She NEVER called me back! Despite the bad connection, I was able to discern that I was not supposed to pick him up where I dropped him off. I just didn't know where to pick him up. They should have called me back instead of hanging up on me.
Or they could have explained the pickup procedure when I dropped him off. If this place can't handle simple stuff like pick up instructions competently, what reason do I have to believe they can handle anesthesia and other medical procedures competently? This is the first, and last, time we'll be going there. If a doctor wants to refer us here, we'll take it as a sign we should look for a new doctor.

It takes a minute, 40-60 days to get seen by the doctor. But hey, I took 6 months to get sonogram & Labwork completed. The physician I saw was easy going, professionally adept & took care of my diagnosed malady. Follow up with side effects during my treatment were not addressed well Additionally, GI procedures are now performed onsite. There's a second wing right inside next to the front office.
Here my procedure was performed seamlessly & results explained to immediately! Sidebar: When I told the anesthetologist I didn't want Profonol as it's too strong, she listened. Turning on her heel sha asks, "How did you know I was to use Profonol?" I said, "There was only about 12 questions about it on your intake?'s" She laughed.

The only reason I'm giving one star is because zero is not an option. My 72-year-old mother has been a patient here for over 2 years for help managing her ulcerative colitis and the entire time she has been treated like just another number and not like a person. Instead of a collaborative care effort, all they do is prescribe steroids when she has a flare.
She was never given a full care plan, her diagnosis was never explained so she can understand it, she was never referred to a dietitian for medical nutrition therapy or given advice on proper elimination diets to help prevent further flair ups. The only nutrition advice she received was when she asked if the BRAT diet is ok to which she was told "Yeah, thats fine, do that" How can proper care be given to GI patients without referring to Registered Dietitians who are the experts in nutrition?
This baffles me. They also never explained medication side effects and never recommend vitamins or calcium supplements even tho she has compromised absorption as do all patients with UC. Bone density loss is a side effect of her medication and they never told her this which means calcium supplementation and light resistance training is imperative which she would have known had they took the time to educate her.
They have changed her dr 3 times over her course of treatment and have yet to give her a clear treatment plan. The only thing these "specialists" have done to help her is provide her with a diagnosis. Other than that, all they have done is help decrease her quality of life significantly. I sincerely hope that this practice will choose to reevaluate the way they care for patients and move to a collaborative care effort.

I went to GI Consultants in Reno for an appointment due to my doctors request. When I went into the building there was two choices of lobbies to go into. Never being there before, I made a choice, went to the right and thought I could ask the receptionist if I was in the right place. I am a senior citizen and I don't always have a totally clear mind due to taking medication.
I told the receptionist that I wasn't sure if I was in the right place could she tell me if I was. I was thinking she could check my name on her computer and see if I had an appointment there. She gave me a very rude look as if I was stupid and snapped at me and asked me a question and then sent me next-door. She made me so upset that I did not say a word to her and I just turned and walked out.
It always amazes me when a customer service person at a front desk is a rude person. You would think that would be the last type of person a company would hire! By the way, she was in the lobby to the right and had dark curly hair that was shoulder length. That was on May 20th around 2:15 pm.

I had my second-ever appointment at GI Consultants today, and my first with Dr. Harrison. Previously I (and my husband) saw Dr. Sande there. who was great but has retired. Dr. Harrison is even better. I appreciated the care of the pre-op nurses Karina and Josh, both quite personable, and was very impressed with the time Dr. Harrison took both before and after the procedure to discuss concerns specific to myself - clearly he made the effort to review and consider records from over five years ago. Sincerely recommend!

Dr. Victor Chen was my physician. The entire process was so streamlined. The pre procedure instructions were detailed and easy to follow and were available via email or hard copy. I was treated very well be their entire staff before during and after my procedure. They even answer their phone! I would highly recommend their services.

Dr Ting-Hui Hsieh is the best! I have been seeing him for awhile due to constipation, bloating and just unconformable. After following his direction with a fairly simple change I feel so much better! No bloating, light and airy feeling! Great Dr, takes the time to talk to you as well as very knowledgeable, truly an expert in his field!

Dr. Fang horrible bedside manner. GI consultants is all about how many patients they can see. Do not have time to discuss your issues. It take 6 months to get an appointment then they cancel so waited over a year to get in. Not with the doctor I requested got Dr. Fang totally rude and unprofessional. Looking for a new GI Dr. not in this group. If I could I would give zero stars!

For me, the thought of going to a gastroenterologist was scary, intimidating and slightly embarrassing. I was very nervous about my procedure, but after having put it off for too many years, I got up the nerve to face my fear and see a professional. Unfortunately, my experience at this office was not great. The doctor I visited with (Dr. Chen) however well educated and experienced he may be, did not have much of a bed side manner. Additionally, I was not contacted by the billing department regarding the cost of my procedure after my insurance company declined coverage.
I was informed at the front desk, on the morning of my procedure that I would have to pay out of pocket. So, to make a scary, not-so-fun procedure worse, I ended up having to fork over $500. Perhaps the worst part was that I was led to believe that my procedure would be painless, but I experienced extreme discomfort following my appointment. If I had been provided with a more accurate expectation, I probably would have scheduled my appointment on a day off, or at the end of the day. If you are looking for a practice that is up front, compassionate, informative and warm - look elsewhere.

One of the worst experiences at a medical facility. Their support staff is the worst. They do not return important calls about lab results, trying to get an appt. is no easy task, rude staff that make a lot of mistakes and blame patients for it, Dr believes every word they say, it got ridiculous, too many family members working for the same practice.
I spent more time sick while at this practice than not. After I left this practice, I went out of the area for care and went into remission soon after. I do not recommend this practice.

My experience was excellent. Dr. Pez was amazing. He answered all my questions in complete detail about my Crohns Disease. I have had it over 20 years and have a very complicated and long history. Super knowledgeable and caring. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Pez. In addition to Dr Pez being wonderful, the front desk girl who greeted me was super helpful and very friendly.
The wait time was less than 10 minutes. I just moved here from South Florida and this was my first doctor's appt here! I was totally impressed and thankful for the great experience.

My daughter went to see Dr. Gregory at GI Consultants. He was great and I would go see him again, however GI consultants uses Prometheus for their billing. GI Consultants is in-network with my insurance, and the bill was negotiated down from $650 to $269.96, however I received multiple bills with the language, "$269.96 applied to your deductible. The balance due is your responsibility." Not only is this not true, it is criminal.
I know better and was able to call and get it reduced to the correct amount, however I am concerned about the people who don't know enough to question and would pay without looking at their EOB. Until GI Consultants changes their billing company, I would not recommend getting services from this business.

Diagnosed with colon cancer last March. After 2 colonoscopies had surgery. Told to follow up with another colonoscopy 1 year later. Received notice by mail in November to schedule my procedure. Played phone tag with voicemails until last week. Told I could not schedule. I was discharged from their practice in September because of an unpaid bill. This was news to me. Had no knowledge of any unpaid bill.
Could not reach billing to sort this out. Three different phone calls to their billing department and placed on hold in excess of 20 minutes each time. Never did get this resolved. Steer clear of this practice! Very poor customer service!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Nachiondo at Gastroenterology Consultants yesterday, and I could NOT be more impressed with the entire experience. After I finally made it to the correct office (I initially went to the Ryland Street office because I'm an idiot), the entire appointment from beginning to end was a very positive experience. The front office staff is warm, friendly and helpful and Dr. Nachiondo is one of those impossibly rare physicians who listens and cares about his patients.
I have a slew of GI problems stemming from celiac disease and some other assorted delights, which Dr. Nachiondo listened to and addressed one by one. He ordered a colonoscopy and endoscopy (WHOOPEE!) which was a breeze to schedule with the staff right on the spot. I bristled at the first utterance of the word "colonoscopy" since, following my disasterous FIRST colonoscopy in 2011 (during which I was a w a k e) I vowed that I'd never EVER have another. Dr. Nachiondo assured me that with proper sedation this time around, I'll sleep through the whole thing.
Since I'm relocating out of state very soon I have to say that I'm bumming hard that I didn't find Dr. Nachiondo sooner than I did. However, because I like and trust him so thoroughly, I changed my move date to accommodate my endo and colonoscopy specifically so I can have it done by Dr. N. Thank you Dr. Nachiondo and Gastroenterology Consultants!

My last appt at a different GI group left me crying. But I still needed help with my pain so I was sent here. Dr Doyle was very nice, answered my questions and scheduled me for an endoscopy for the following week. I've been dealing with a lot of upper right side pain for about 3 years whenever I ate or drank. After a completely painless procedure he told me what I'm dealing with and I'll hear more next week after the biopsies are back. It's such a relief to know I'm not nuts and making it up like I was basically accused of at another clinic. I'm hoping this is a long term relationship after not having a satisfactory relationship with my GI since my first one who diagnosed me 30 years ago. I'd recommend anyone to go here. The staff is nice and patient here too!
