Started seeing Dr Jennifer Santiago a few months ago. I'm 79 with some female issues. First. making the appointment on line was easy. Both times I've visited the office the staff was cheerful and attentive. I waited only a couple of minutes to be seen. Dr Santiago listens, doesn't seem rushed, cares. A great practice! An amazing doctor. I've had some good GYN support but never amazing support coupled with front office "kindness!"

I had a great experience with Dr. Agarwal! I had to have surgery which I wasn't looking forward to, but she helped ease my mind by answering all of my questions. My surgery was a success and I'm looking forward to becoming a mother one day. She is a true professional who genuinely cares about her patients. The staff is also welcoming and professional.

I've been going to Dr. Santiago for almost two years now and she is great. I got right in and out for my yearly appointment and have never had any complaints. I have noticed a few times that getting through on the phones is tough but I have learned to call early in the morning and I always seem to get someone. Dr. Santiago is very kind and I definitely recommend her.

Unprofessional - Lazy and Questionable Competency. If I could give zero stars I would. If my uterus was on the verge of falling out I would not go to this office! After getting lab work, I waited a week for results.nothing. After several attempts at leaving a message with the nurse and lab line.nothing so I had to physically go into the office only to find out one of my labs came back abnormal and needed meds.
The nurse offered no apology only to tell me Dr Agarwal went on vacation for a week and they were short handed. Ive been a patient for almost 12 years and everytime I went the front office experience went from bad to worse. I stayed because I liked the Doctor. Not anymore! Patient beware!

I had been a patient of this office for a bit. I have a different OBGYN that I normally see for my annual but they were very close to my office and when something came up, they were able to get me in. I have seen Santiago and a few other of the doctors. I had a cyst and their sonogram tech was amazing. I just called to see if I could get a medication refill for an illness and was denied.
I asked for a 30 day RX until I could get my annual and they said no. I didn't even get an offer to have a few days supply or a sample. I was just there in Fall for a follow up on my cyst and yet (and paid a ton of $$$) they couldn't do me a favor. I won't be back. I won't be recommending them to any female friends or family in the neighborhood. I wish they had an email system to contact their manager. I am very very disappointed.

After going here for the last 8 years, I am so disappointed in how much the service has gone down. I can never get through to make appointments. I had a nurse give me a call back and she acted like she had an attitude with me because she claims I didn't leave my name ( which I did) it just isn't something you should deal with when you are dealing with your health. It's already scary and stressful enough and I can deal without all the extra stress. It's unfortunate that I'm going to have to stop going here because I absolutely love my OBGYN, Dr. Tina Pham.

I had an appointment today with Dr Santiago and am extremely happy! Everyone I had interactions with was friendly and professional. I arrived about 10 minutes early and went in the back on-time. Dr. Santiago was happy to listen to my concerns and give information and advice. She was also very open to me deciding how to proceed with next steps. The overall exam was quick and painless.
When it was done, I was left wondering if she remembered to do the PAP because I didn't feel it or the usual after effects. I had some blood work done after and the lab tech ended up confirming my suspicions that the doctors there seem to make the PAP unnoticeable. The only issue I had was when I scheduled a follow up appointment for the following week, the appointment got scheduled for 2 weeks out instead of 1.
I called the office after I realized what my appointment card said and was able to bump the appointment up to next week. So problem solved. I am super happy with everything, especially considering all the mixed reviews I've been reading. Also, keep in mind that this is the office on the 4th floor. There is another OBGYN office (different practice) on the 5th.

My GP recommended that I see and OBGYN and at the strong recommendation of his assistant/intern (?) I went to see Dr. Aditi Agarwal. It has been a terrible experience. It took about three weeks to get an appointment, and they wouldn't give me the first or last of the day (only for existing patients). I tried to call ahead to determine if they were running on time (as I only live about 10 minutes away - and have very little leeway in terms of time off).
I was assured that they were on time even though I was also told that the doctor had FIVE more appointments in the 30 minutes before mine (HUGE red flag). Turns out it was totally false - and I waited 40 minutes past my appointed time to see the doctor. Then, she RUSHED through my appointment. At this point I was pretty aggravated so to reassure me, the doctor said we could go over results and next steps (prescriptions or exploratory surgery) over the phone once my test results were in (Note: the test was to rule out other things).
She called me today with the same results the tech had already provided (nothing of concern was identified). When I said I would like to pursue the prescriptions we discussed, she and told me I would have to make another in-person appointment to discuss next steps. I argued that wasn't what she told me during my visit - but she insisted that I would have to come in. Bottom line is - I am terribly frustrated and disappointed with the experience.

I just began going here back in the Spring and so far I've been a bit frustrated. It's a very convenient location but when I attempt to reach anyone, it typically rings and rings or goes to an answering service that's not really an answering service since there's no one to speak to and no way to leave a message. In addition, I reach this message consistently when it should be open so in order to make a simple appointment or anything, it involves several phone calls. Also, I felt like I was completely rushed and I felt like my questions were annoying to the doctor and being a first time pregnant woman, I felt it was normal to ask simple questions. Also, I feel I was given some questionable instructions since I went to my primary care doctor who disagreed with what I was told by the OB here.
I do not think I will be able to put up with this throughout the remainder of my pregnancy and am looking for a replacement. It's such a sham since it's a convenient location.

This is an update to the review I gave earlier this year. Since then, not sure what happened but I have had a much better experience with the office staff, especially the nurses. I've been in the office more times than I would like due to a miscarriage this spring. I was SO impressed by the way everyone in the office handled such a traumatic experience for my husband and me. Dr. Santiago, as expected, was wonderful through the whole process.
Even though it was my first m/c she didn't take it lightly at all and had me do some follow up testing to rule out anything serious. I really appreciated her taking these extra steps to help avoid future m/c and ensure healthy future pregnancies. The nurses were amazing, sharing their own personal experiences and giving me hope in a time where I'm not sure it was possible to feel more hopeless. Jamie was and still is amazing.
I am pregnant again and when I came in for my first appointment she recognized my instantly and gave me a high five. Every time I go in she gives me so much positive reinforcement and tells me how good she feels about this one. It's little things like this that really make you feel that people care about their job and the patients they take care of.
The only thing I wish they would do differently is have a separate waiting area for women going through miscarriage of fertility issues, or at least let them go back and wait in a private office. It was torture sitting in the waiting room surrounded by pregnant women when I just found out hours earlier that I was losing my baby. I'm also a little disappointed that the only place they deliver is Inova Alexandria, because I haven't heard great things about that hospital. But that's a separate issue and is not reflective of the quality of service Obgyn Associates provides.

When I first started going here a few years ago I could see where some of the bad reviews come from. It seemed like they overbooked a bit because I'd often have a long waiting time and then feel rushed during very brief exams. Dr. Pham did not seem to have strong bedside manner, and often seemed a bit scattered and disorganized and not good at minor procedures which she would hand off to nurses, especially during my pregnancy and time in the hospital (I remember overhearing the head nurse order some tests/procedures that she had forgotten). Dr. Bissell I also thought had poor bedside manner.
I was relieved that Dr. Santiago ended up delivering my baby. But I do feel like Dr. Pham has improved in that regard over the years that I've been going there. The waiting time also seems to have improved a bit so maybe they've improved their appointment management system.

I was with this practice for part of my second pregnancy and completely regret all my time there. The doctors rush through all of your appointments. When I told them I had questions they gave 2-3 word standard answers and then tried ending the appointment. They weren't interested in really understanding my situation. They are not willing to help try for VBACs.
In my situation they basically said I needed to schedule my c/section for 39 weeks ('because OR spots fill up so fast') but if I happened to go in to labor before that they'd consider a VBAC, basically if everything was perfect. When I tried to schedule my backup c/section for a few days later they basically made excuses, wouldn't do it, and just kept telling me to schedule it.
There was no discussion of them actually seeing where I was at closer in but more so an attitude of 'this is our standard policy, we are not really willing to change it because we don't want to take the time to see how things progress. They HEAVILY pushed genetic testing even after I politely refused it several times. Dr. Bissell honestly seemed appalled that I didn't want to do it. Sonograms not available on site which is a hassle.
I found Dr. Agarwal to be friendly but young, Dr. Pham rushed through appointments the quickest, Dr. Bissell was rigid and extremely rude when it came to genetic testing. Dr. Santiago was the best of the bunch but when it came down to it she adhered to the same inflexible practices as the rest of the doctors. I will say the doctors did seem competent.
Your baby and you would probably be safe here. I would imagine though that their c/section rate is high when compared with other practices but I can't say that for sure. I just know they don't really want to work with or get to know their patients.

This practice is alright-- recommended by two different people. The nurses were nice, the doctors seem to have great rapport with each other and treated me kindly. I felt they pushed more genetic testing than was needed, though. Getting an appointment was easy enough, but it was quite a trek for me to get up there. Ultimately I left because they do not have in-house sonography, which means that getting an ultrasound results in unexpected copays and insurance billing issues (not to mention having to drive to different locations for these services).
I wouldn't mind a small copay, but when it came time to have my nuchel translucency screening performed, I was sent out-of-house to a genetics and IVF clinic (what insurance considers a specialist). After questioning the copay they requested up-front, I spoke to an insurance liaison at the clinic, who informed me that I would likely wind up footing a portion of the bill because it would be billed as a trip to a specialist, not as a maternity cost.
I can't tell you how much exactly, because I left my appointment after finding out it would probably go against my deductible. I've since switched to a practice that performs in-house sonography. With how expensive healthcare is, I just can't roll the dice on more unexpected costs.

My doctor is Dr. Agarwal. She is nothing short of awesome! I like Dr. Agarwal, however the receptionists at their office are not the friendliest. This is disappointing when you have found a doctor that you are very comfortable with. I called today to speak with my doctor to ask her a question. I never had an issue speaking with her over the phone before, but this receptionist was very short and rude about it.
I will most likely try to call back and hopefully speak to someone else. As a receptionist, you are the first person patients talk to, and see. This is the start of your experience with the place, and should be very pleasant. Maybe they need to hire people with better attitudes.

Worst Doctor Experience EVER! Shortly after being married, my husband and I decided to start family planning. Having been new to the area, I knew I would have to find an obgyn closer to my new home. I did some research (very little in retrospect) and came up with Dr. Bissel. I made an appointment and went for the visit on the scheduled day. My appointment was for a pap exam and for help/ advice on family planning for our specific situation in particular (cycles ranging from a 28 day cycle to a 104 day cycle. Yea.
Totally screwy!). The office staff was nice and professional and the nurse who showed me to the exam room was a sweetheart! I had high hopes for this office. Then, I met Dr. Bissel (dun, dun, dunnnn.). First impression was gruff and to the point, but clearly knowledgeable. Soon after my first impression however, (after I told her my concerns about getting pregnant knowing my cycles were off) were horrifying.
She leant no support, real advice or showed any sort of "silver lining" to my issue. She basically told me I should have sex every day and that was the only way I'd ever be able to get pregnant under my circumstances and even that was a long shot. And, mind you, she said this all very "matter of fact" leaving no room for any hopes of having a child.
She made it seem ludicrious that I would even try; and never once mentioned trying a fertility doctor for IUI or IVF. After leaving the office devasted, I walked out to my car and cried for a good 20min or so; called my husband, and just felt horrible. I wanted to stay with this office as the staff really was nice, but after this horrible doctor experience, I knew I had to keep looking.
The one star here is for the office, . Negative 5 stars for Bissel. ps. For those looking for a good obgyn, try Dr. Cothran in Burke VA; she's straightforward AND kind without sugar coating issues any issues you might have.

I have always received excellent care here and my needs have been met above and beyond my expectations. All the physicians are thorough without wasting any time, and I cannot recommend them any higher. They have been my "go to" doctors for a number of years and continue to see them, even though I moved out of state.
